Misc Balan3 lore stuff since I’ve been meaning to write it down (ft. stuff I just made up at 1am yesterday because I liked the idea of him having kind of an overall theme like Lance does (if the explanation makes sense))

Due to the effects of the events of the end of the game on canon Balan, his Balan is created with a tendency towards negativity rather than positivity

(Not an “immediately becomes Lance” situation but tends to view situations through a more pessimistic lens which isn’t ideal)

The realization that he would become Lance and had been acting in a way that contributed towards that end effect this but so does the way he chooses to tell Balan3 about the Balan and Lance cycle

He recognizes that being allowed to go so long without knowing the truth about him and Lance contributed to his own becoming Lance so decides to tell Balan3 basically right away. Which scares him

His view of the process is colored with grief and fear and emotions he can’t even really explain (assuming Lance is just kind of erased from Wonderworld when a new Lance occurs)— leads to him trying to overcorrect what he feels he did wrong as maestro through Balan3

His overall concept is something like “acknowledging and therefore avoiding the possibility of anything bad happening by not doing anything Ever” (but more eloquent)

Like how canon Lance is about avoiding the pain of things that have already happened by choosing ignorance and comfort— Balan3 is more about avoiding potential pain caused by descisions you’re yet to make

(Lance2 is also kind of this but realizes it first and realizes they both need to change for the theatre/guests and themselves)

(Does lead to some conflict over his attempts to change Balan3 too much)

Happy Balannouncement Day!

(there's no new art, unexpected things happened, but I really do want to get new stuff out to you all soon, I miss drawing my maestro)

Six years ago, we were introduced to Balan Wonderworld. At a moment in history when it seemed like the world was falling apart around us, in the midst of the political strife and global pandemic of 2020, this game hit like a meteorite of hope and positivity. I still remember scrambling around twt in a frenzy trying to figure out where the screenshots of Naka and Ohshima standing together were coming from, frantically googling "Balan Wonderland" (yes really!) and finally finding the announcement trailer. Oh it was such a moment of excitement, seeing two of my favorite creators reunited for the first time since the Dreamcast era to bring us on a brand new adventure (one that reminded me suspiciously of NiGHTS into Dreams but I certainly wasn't the only one who made the connection, lol).

We all know how things ultimately panned out--suffice it to say, Balan Wonderworld didn't land well with the vast majority of the gaming community, but I can honestly say it's become one of my very favorite games, and will always hold a special place in my heart. An important and necessary venture through the human heart, to overcome trauma, restore balance, and find the true happiness that only comes after hard-fought tribulation. I'm glad we met, Balan <3

Fun facts:

-Moon Dancer is a doll possessed by a ghostly spirt, though it’s unsure if the spirt is a child or not, as Moon Dancer can be very child like, but also very creepy

-Moon Dancer likes to sneak behind others and scare them for fun

-She’s surprisingly not a big fan of food, mainly only eating a few selective meals

Forgotten Onyx (they/them, Aye-Aye (secretly a Nephilim, but hides this fact due to safety))

-Forgotten Onyx enjoys gardening (as where they originally came from, wild life barely existed)

-They are slightly deaf

i really thought the point of "being lgbt+ doesn't absolve you of racism as a white person" was that white people arent absolved of racism by being marginalized but it really seems like people think other marginalizations make it okay. no being disabled doesn't do it. no being poor doesnt do it. we need to fight against racism actively no matter what.

Food Fight: he is considered the friendly one out of the group as torch is socially awkward, Deja‘vu is shy and blades can be a jerk at times though that don't necessarily mean he's normal no skylander is honestly but food fight especially is an outcast and a bit strange and honestly creepy-cute at times people say his smile is a bit uncanny maybe it's the eyes staring into their soul but the cute side is rather obvious though he does have trouble reaching doors and other things. It's a strength in the battlefield because enemies struggle attacking him but outside of it...not so much though it's of note that food fight's very afraid...no EXTREMELY AFRAID of bacon...especially if it's too close to asparagus.

Torch: Torch while not necessarily shy is a bit of mess socially she's somehow both hotheaded and anxious socially and to newcomers they see Torch and think of the girl that saved her village from a snow dragon not someone who overshares and once they realized they overshared looks at food fight like it's his fault....Torch is both of those people just at different times on the battlefield she's fearless but at a party she's suffering heck half of the time she misses events because she's too busy training though she does have issues regarding attachment she's afraid of losing her friends and this comes from the situation with her missing grandfather and at times her temper flares when her friends are away for too long out of Fear.

Deja‘vu: Deja‘vu is well mysterious as hell she's a Skylander no one remembers meeting but always knows and she's near soundless unless talking she has the habit of Just appearing places. Deja‘vu though is shy and a bit insecure dispite having one the most insane abilities though she can be mischievous at times like sometimes she'll look into the future to see one of friends falling down the stairs and does nothing about it just because she can so yeah if you see her watching you right after looking at her hour glass maybe just be careful. Though Deja‘vu has a unique burden in the form of nightmares sometimes she activates her powers in her sleep and sees very unpleasant futures that leave her rattled for days she feels as if it's her duty to keep her friends alive.

Blades: I'm going to be honest with you blades is a bit of a jerk...a heroic jerk he's trying to be better though but it's a bad habit. Though he does have a soft side to him and has a guilty conscious he actually does feel bad once he realizes he was in the wrong. Blades enjoys sports so much that he keeps his friends up at night his favorite sport is sheep-ball and he also loves spicy food and has a secret hobby of acting. Though blades has OCD and likes a neat and clean space which at times messes with food fight's messy habits and Torch’s messy habits and because he comes from a line of knights he has high expectations upon himself often resulting in never feeling good enough.
