Do u ever suddenly realize you’re WAY worse than you thought you were doing, like holy fuck dude what are coping mechanisms??

I don’t know when yesterday was and I don’t know when tomorrow is
Everything’s just been too much lately—I’m not sure how much more of this I can take.
sorry mom, i got a small unpopular blog to run
IF SOMEONE TELLS YOU THEY HAVE DID
- No, it is NOT schizophrenia. - No, you do NOT have multiple personalities because you act differently at work, around your family, around your friends, etc. - No, we are NOT like the guy in “Split”; we’re not going to switch personalities and attack you, that’s bullshit. - YES, alters/identities/personalities are REAL. Treat them like individual people, even though they share the same body.
DID is caused by extensive childhood trauma and is demonized by the media. If someone trusts you enough to share that they are a multiple, DO NOT abuse that.
Happy New Year. This is still valid.
Are white ppl with did allowed to take up poc spaces when they have poc alters or should they understand to the world they are seen n treated as right n thus do not live the same reality as poc while respecting poc spaces and ppl?
Hey anon. Sorry we never responded - as a white-bodied system, we can’t think of the right answer to this question.
POC alters are valid, but that’s a very tricky space to navigate when the system’s body is a different ethnicity, and therefore not necessarily connected with the cultural surroundings of a poc alter. Of course, we believe there are exceptions, such as if the body shares ethnicities with different backgrounds. However, we’re not educated enough to speak on this, because our body is white.
If a poc alter is to reveal themselves as a different ethnicity than its body, we would encourage them to do so around someone of that same ethnicity who is accepting of DID, although we imagine that is rare to find. We honestly cannot speak on whether they can/should share the same space as singlets of the same ethnicity.
We are sorry we cannot provide further, but we hope this was at least somewhat helpful.
To any other systems who read this, I would love your input.
Thank you again anon for such a stimulating question.
How can you call suicide selfish if the person committing suicide hates themselves so much to the point where they can kill themselves.
based on a true story
I don’t think Fortnite is to blame for kids nowadays not reading…
That’s the joke. It’s the authoritarian overbearing parent.
He was being sarcastic lol
Reminded me of these
That violin one hit close to home.
I remember doing homework once, asked my grandmother if she was proud of me. “Do some thing for me to be proud of.” That hurt.
That comic up there – I witnessed almost that exact scenario. Teacher wanted the kids to all pick books. One kid spots something on the shelf and gets visibly excited. Pulls it out and starts reading. Teacher sees it, snatches it off him and tells him that this is a book for 8 year olds (the kid was 15ish) and tells him to get a book more appropriate for his age. Kid slouches around the shelves for about 10 minutes, finally picks up a book at random and sits in his chair tucking the edges of each page into the binding to make that looped-page look. He didn’t read a word. He sat there and did this to his book for the remainder of the reading session:
He had been genuinely excited about the 8 year old book he’d picked up. It was a new one in a series he used to read as a younger kid. He’d been actively sitting and reading, and then he was embarrassed in front of his classmates, told off for reading a kids book, and voila. He lost all enthusiasm for reading anything else that day.
What’s worse? That kid had been hit by a car like a year and a half earlier. Severe brain trauma. Had to re-learn a lot of basic things, like how to speak and how to read.
An 8 year old book would have been perfect for him. Easy enough to read that it would have helped rebuild his confidence in his own reading ability. A book meant for 15/16 years olds? A lot harder to read than a book for 8 year olds. Especially if you’re recovering from a relatively recent brain injury.
And yeah, the teacher knew all about his brain injury, and the recovery. He just seemed go be of the opinion that the kid was 15, so he should be reading books for 15 year olds, irrespective of brain injury.
Reading this thread I’m reminded of Daniel Pennae’s The Rights of the Reader, which can be found in a lot of bookshops and school libraries:
The child speaking at the bottom in Quentin Blake’s distinctive spiky handwriting is saying ‘10 rights, 1 warning: Don’t make fun of people who don’t read - or they never will’
I used to work in a library and I’d see this all the time. The parents with the most engaged kids would pretty much set them free with a bag.
Most popular hits by/involving helicopter parents:
Is that age appropriate? (Dad following his daughter around checking the suggested age ranges for each book she picked and then letting her have it or not)
Is that improving literature? (Does this book teach the kid about the human state of existence but never be a #readdiversebooks kind of book?)
Graphic novels aren’t real books but picture books are
This one mom who has this repeating argument with her daughter where the mom wants the daughter to read this book from when the mom was a kid
Possibly the same mom and daughter combo, but a mom who wasn’t listening to what her daughter wanted or was capable of and kept trying to force her to read kiddie science books the thickness of a chopstick when all the girl wanted was grownup science books. The girl was nearly in tears.
Why is suicide considered selfish, but wanting someone to live on in misery so you don't have to experience sadness is not?
My friend is dying and she signed a DNR (do not resuscitate) order. She has nothing left to live for and she can go peacefully and it’ll be any fucking minute now but I’m so sad, I’m angry but I can’t blame her, I’m just so so sad and I don’t know how to feel right now. I can’t sleep and I can’t stop crying.
And the most selfish parts of me are wondering...WHY CAN’T IT FUCKING BE ME.
But that’s horrendous and disgusting to think, right?
God, I hate existing right now. i’m gonna miss her so fucking much.
