I'm not allowed to make conspiracies anymore and I've stopped believing in the supernatural since I became an adult but I'm almost convinced my partner came from another universe where everything is exactly the same except the plot of the TF2 comics.

He was talking to me about how Pyro is a tragic character because they were "forced to kill all of their friends and they didn't even know," and I was like "wtf are you talking about." He goes on this elaborately detailed spiel about this giant plotline where Pyro's pyrovision comes from being forced to wear a gas mask that makes everything look like colorful sunshine and rainbows, all while they were murderding their friends in gruesome ways. I was like "dude that never happened" and we got in a huge debate about it.

I insisted he was probably remembering a mix of Meet The Pyro having a transition through Pyro's goggles, along with the item that lets you see the game in pyrovision, but he's never played the game and had no idea the item existed. He SWORE on his life that I was fucking with him or misremembering myself, like "no don't you remember? There was an entire arc about this. It was tragic, both Mann brothers got their engineers to invent this mask to make Pyro more savage and gain the upper hand in the gravel war. They literally have a mental breakdown and go on a rampage about it and try to kill the Mann brothers."

I'm fascinated at this point, this is beyond Mandela effect slight misrememberings of designs or pronunciations, he's literally remembering an entire story in detail beat for beat and reciting it to me. I'm laughing my ass of because none of this happened. He tries to prove his point by whipping his phone out and he spends the next 30 minutes rapidclicking through THE ENTIRE TF2 COMIC COLLECTION, just to have his "gotcha, here it is" moment by pulling up a comic page and frame he remembers in great detail, only to have his entire world shattered while sitting on the couch. He's got his head in his hands, he's questioning his sanity, he's repeating "no I swear, I SWEAR that was a thing," over and over again as I pat him gently between his shoulder blades. He is living the devastating reality check he believed Pyro went through in the comics. He believed this was canon for years. He tells me the entire story his mind fabricated and I tell him "I wish that happened, that sounds cool, I would've loved to have more Pyro lore in the comics."

My partner is either very insane, marvelously creative beyond his awareness, or some reality exists where the TF2 comic writers are edgelords and went full angst with Pyro.
