if you're unsure, the easiest way to check/update Firefox is
open the application menu (three horizontal lines in the upper right corner)
click Help > About Firefox
in the pop-up window, look for the version number under the header. If it's 131.0.2, you're in the clear. If not, there should be an option that says "restart to update Firefox." Click that.
For the 325th day of the ongoing genocide, I am facing a suffocating crisis. My wife is suffering from hepatitis due to contaminated food and water, and my little daughter is dealing with rashes caused by extreme heat and malnutrition.
In these difficult times, no one can imagine the extent of the suffering we are going through. We are in desperate need of food, clean water, and medications that could save my family's lives.

this is not normal. Palestinian students the same age as me or in many cases even YOUNGER shouldn’t have to be online 24/7 advocating for their families just so they have some money to buy food and buy a tent after their old one was destroyed by a drone strike. please don’t be desensitized by this. there is an onslaught of atrocities being committed by israel every single day but we have to keep standing up for Palestinians.
the students on my dash… they’re all so young they have aspirations they have hopes. but now they need to wake up at the crack of dawn to line up at the food distribution center not knowing if there’s a sniper somewhere watching them. this is horrific
Hazem is vetted here. His family survived miraculously through 3 separate air strikes that resulted in communication blackouts for more than 24 hours last week.

Hazem literally cannot wait for people to decide donating is worth their time. the simple truth is that he and his family are living through a genocide and they are at risk of being murdered any second. these are beyond urgent circumstances.

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them.
It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around.
I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives.
Share and donate as much as you can.

@danashehab has been fundraising since may and is just over €15,000 away from their goal l. as stated in the screenshot people are starting to believe the rafah crossing will open so it’s important to make sure everyone has the funds in case they are allowed to evacuate.
thee shehab family consists of dana (13), sahar (14), mona (9), malak (5), yehya (1.5), fahed, (38), reem (32), and grandmother mona (60). they have been shadowbanned and deleted a few times. you can also find this family at @monashehab
EDIT AUG 24:
The family has had to raise their goal to cover their extended family’s evacuation fees since they are unable to make a new GFM.
The new goal is €85,000.

RE-REGISTER IF NECESSARY! They can purge you, but they can't stop you from just slapping your legally valid registration right back in the system! Don't let them get away with stealing your vote!
At this point they know they only way to get the twice-impeached 34-count felon (that cheated on is wife with a porn star while she was pregnant and then lied about using presidential campaign funds to pay off said porn star's hush money) elected is if if they stop the opposition from voting entirely. So they're going to purge the people most likely to vote against him. Which is illegal but clearly they don't care about illegal shit, or else they wouldn't be running a convicted felon for president, now would they?
I’ll say it again. In 2020 I was purged between a local town council election and the national election. Thank bob I’m paranoid and checked my registration in time to reregister. If you’re in the US check your voter status asap. And then check it again in a month.
This is anecdotal, so take this how you will, but years back when me, my brother, and lady roommate at the time moved to georgia and we all registered to vote.
Curiously of the three of us, only the woman of the group had her registration purged right after, and she got a letter saying her vote didn't count. Maybe it's because non-male and non-white people have a tendency to be left leaning. Maybe she forgot how to spell her name that she's spelled correctly all her life. WHO CAN REALLY SAY?
This can happen to you, it tends to happen more often if you check particular demographic boxes for some strange reason, and it would behoove you to check.
basically to translate from economics into English: Duolingo is assumed to be significantly more potentially profitable after firing all specialist workers not directly related to IT.
to disambiguate the repurcussies: beyond the human cost of firing an entire field out of your business, the quality of Duolingo WILL suffer from this
everyone uninstall Duolingo and rate 1 star. communicate unequivocally that this will not be tolerated
Hi, i'm mel. i am a 26 year old afrolatino trans man. i got laid off dec… Mel Guzman needs your support for Help me cover my moving costs &
I have updated my GFM with info on my situation and the steps I am taking to move. Initially, I quoted $4k to move, but I found a cheaper way to rent a truck :)
Currently, I'm at $1.4k / $3k.
Here's the update I wrote under the cut
Here are the mostly concrete plans I said I would share last week. I'm moving out of Texas to a state where the cost of living is lower. I would stay here, but there are a few things holding me back.
First, I am having trouble finding a roommate in Texas. Even if I were to move to an affordable studio apartment here, it would be much farther away from my current jobs. And since I don't have transportation I would have to find new jobs again. I'd rather do this in a state that doesn't want the people in it to die.
Second, I want to try becoming an electrician through the Minneapolis Electrical JATC. The trade schools near me are way too far from me (I don't have a car), and they require me to pay fees.
Third, no more red state pls. Even if I never become an electrician, I can still get affordable state healthcare in Minnesota, fallback on social services, and not worry about any possible anti-trans laws.
Lastly, the heat is frying my brain. I miss the cold :(
A break down of the costs: I work about 60 hours a week between two jobs, making $14 at both. I will make about $3k a month. Currently, my bills are about $1.6k a month. So that leaves me with an estimated $1.3k. If I keep working for about 3 months, I can make almost $4k. But I'd really prefer not to work 2 jobs for too long because of how physically taxing it is for me. I have to walk about 30 minutes in over 100F weather every day to get to both jobs. Which is why I'm still asking for donations.
I am also selling items I don't plan on taking with me, which SHOULD all sell for $1.5k if I'm lucky. But it's not guaranteed that everything will sell for what I'm asking for.
The minimum needed for me to move is $2.7k. I am planning on renting a 10 ft Budget truck thru Costco (much cheaper than Uhaul which initially quoted me $1.5k). A close friend of mine will drive the truck for me, so I will need to buy him a plane ticket back home. I will need about $300 worth of gas for the trip, but that cost will most likely rise. I plan on getting free boxes from local businesses to save some money. That $30 is for a box for my TV.
I've also included a snippet of my to-do list that I've been following through on!
Thanks again for the help everyone. I hope this shows I'm serious about my goals & I'm trying to do everything I can do on my end. I really, really appreciate it.
If you have a medical condition that makes you at high risk for Covid (which is a long fucking list) or you live with or care for someone who does, under the ADA you can require that every person you will come in contact with in a medical facility be masked and that they properly filter the air.
Not sure how to go about doing that? The People’s CDC has you covered.
Here is a Sample Reasonable Accommodations Request. We recommend you send this request to your hospital leadership, as well as the General Counsel, and your provider. Here is a list of Hospital CEOs that you can refer to:
We recommend calling to follow up, being confident and persistent! We are in this together.
Subject: Reasonable Accommodations Request
To: Clinic director, provider, hospital general counsel, your physician, ADA office if there is one.
Because I have a medical condition that, according to the CDC, makes me at high risk for severe COVID outcomes, my functional limitation is that I can only participate in indoor spaces which require universal masking and other layers of protection against airborne viruses. I am requesting reasonable accommodations as guaranteed by the ADA that all my upcoming visits in the next six months take place in a universally masked setting. Additionally, I request
1. A guarantee that I will not encounter a single unmasked person for the duration of my visit, including other visitors, hospital staff or other patients.
2. All of my providers will wear an N95 mask at all times in my presence
3. Additional air ventilation will be provided for my visit, I am happy to bring my own HEPA purifier to assist with this.
4. I will be seen, treated, and in post-op in a private room which I will not share with any other patient.
5. All providers who see me will certify that they have not tested positive for COVID nor been exposed to COVID in the past ten days, and complete a COVID symptom screening
Please confirm how you will be able to meet my request. I would appreciate a written response to my request. Thank you so much in advance.
This is AMAZING! I didn’t know this was something you could do!! Please read!
If you are immunocompromised or in anyway at higher risk of getting seriously sick from an “everyday” illness, you do NOT have to let fact that other people don’t care about your health and safety affect your wellbeing.
An EPA document shows that a new Chevron fuel ingredient has a lifetime cancer risk more than 1 million times higher than what the agency us
The Environmental Protection Agency approved a component of boat fuel made from discarded plastic that the agency’s own risk formula determined was so hazardous, everyone exposed to the substance continually over a lifetime would be expected to develop cancer. Current and former EPA scientists said that threat level is unheard of. It is a million times higher than what the agency usually considers acceptable for new chemicals and six times worse than the risk of lung cancer from a lifetime of smoking.
Federal law requires the EPA to conduct safety reviews before allowing new chemical products onto the market. If the agency finds that a substance causes unreasonable risk to health or the environment, the EPA is not allowed to approve it without first finding ways to reduce that risk.
But the agency did not do that in this case. Instead, the EPA decided its scientists were overstating the risks and gave Chevron the go-ahead to make the new boat fuel ingredient at its refinery in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Though the substance can poison air and contaminate water, EPA officials mandated no remedies other than requiring workers to wear gloves, records show.
ProPublica and the Guardian in February reported on the risks of other new plastic-based Chevron fuels that were also approved under an EPA program that the agency had touted as a “climate-friendly” way to boost alternatives to petroleum-based fuels. That story was based on an EPA consent order, a legally binding document the agency issues to address risks to health or the environment. In the Chevron consent order, the highest noted risk came from a jet fuel that was expected to create air pollution so toxic that 1 out of 4 people exposed to it over a lifetime could get cancer.
In February, ProPublica and the Guardian asked the EPA for its scientists’ risk assessment, which underpinned the consent order. The agency declined to provide it, so ProPublica requested it under the Freedom of Information Act. The 203-page risk assessment revealed that, for the boat fuel ingredient, there was a far higher risk that was not in the consent order. EPA scientists included figures that made it possible for ProPublica to calculate the lifetime cancer risk from breathing air pollution that comes from a boat engine burning the fuel. That calculation, which was confirmed by the EPA, came out to 1.3 in 1, meaning every person exposed to it over the course of a full lifetime would be expected to get cancer.
Such risks are exceedingly unusual, according to Maria Doa, a scientist who worked at EPA for 30 years and once directed the division that managed the risks posed by chemicals. The EPA division that approves new chemicals usually limits lifetime cancer risk from an air pollutant to 1 additional case of cancer in a million people. That means that if a million people are continuously exposed over a presumed lifetime of 70 years, there would likely be at least one case of cancer on top of those from other risks people already face.
When Doa first saw the 1-in-4 cancer risk for the jet fuel, she thought it must have been a typo. The even higher cancer risk for the boat fuel component left her struggling for words. “I had never seen a 1-in-4 risk before this, let alone a 1.3-in-1,” said Doa. “This is ridiculously high.”
Another serious cancer risk associated with the boat fuel ingredient that was documented in the risk assessment was also missing from the consent order. For every 100 people who ate fish raised in water contaminated with that same product over a lifetime, seven would be expected to develop cancer — a risk that’s 70,000 times what the agency usually considers acceptable.
When asked why it didn’t include those sky-high risks in the consent order, the EPA acknowledged having made a mistake. This information “was inadvertently not included in the consent order,” an agency spokesperson said in an email.
Hello! I know I don’t have many followers and I’m just another random tumblr user but if you guys could help me share this I would be forever grateful. English is not my first laungage so excuse me if I make any mistake.
On Monday, May 1, around 2 p.m. in the afternoon, I had an epileptic fit. They took me to the ER because the seizures wouldn’t stop, then they transferred me to a second hospital where they did a CT scan, but nothing abnormal came out, so they transferred me back to the first hospital. I kept convulsing and I got to the point of being intubated, since I was having breathing difficulties. Until the next day, around 4 a.m., I was able to wake up and was discharged in the afternoon since I looked more stable.
After going to the neurologist and doing several more in-depth studies, they concluded that the epileptic seizures were due to the fact that I have a brain tumor in the upper frontal part. I still have time to extract it, however, the surgery is very expensive for me, approximately $11,760 dollars. That’s why I need any help I can get.
I appreciate any contribution even if it is only sharing my cause or having read this far. Thank you so much. ❤️
I’ve scrimped and saved and done everything under the sun. I’ve escaped abuse, I’ve gone through homelessness, I’ve slept on the floor for years. I lost my inheritance during COVID due to two years worth of lockdowns shackling me to an extortionate rent. But I got out. I got up. Only for the grace of people who helped me before, I clawed my way through. I tried for and somehow got a whole damn salaried job. I was going to finally get into a place that I’d never have to worry about being kicked out of ever again.
And here I am now.
What you see above is the state of the UK rental market. Because I don’t earn 30x the monthly rent on a place, I can’t simply rent a place even if I prove my income. If I want to avoid homelessness, I have to bid on the rent, or pay 6 months up front + a 5 week deposit. All in one go. And this is after negotiating my new landlord down from wanting 12 months upfront.
Perhaps you’ve seen the post my wonderful friend @tikkunolamorgtfo (who has been keeping me sane over the phone since this started) made. I won’t rehash too many points, just update what I can: there was catastrophic flooding toward the end of the tenancy, and I might lose my job for asking to WFH after moving.
I cannot express how it feels to have my entire life savings wiped out by this. I feel like everything I’ve ever hoped for and tried for has been ripped away by circumstance and greed. Once the move is over, I will have nearly nothing left. Again. I will not be able to do this a second time. When this tenancy is up…I can barely think about it.
I will never get that money back. No matter how much I wish and dream for some angel investor with £10k spare to lift me up–I know it’s not going to happen. But I do need help. I need help for whatever the new utilities are going to be, I need help for food, I need help for the travel to get to the new place.
If you can help, and only if you can, please go here. Of course, I of all people know what it’s like to not be able to help, so don’t feel bad if you can’t. Even just sharing this around would be great, and thank you for reading.
Also, if my shithead father is reading this: after stealing my Mother’s life savings and skipping out on paying child benefit for life…just fuck off or pay me what you owe me.
HPV is linked to cancer wherever it's found. We associate it with cervical cancer, but it's linked to uterine, ovarian, throat, tongue, mouth, penile, testicular, AND anal cancers.
The vaccine has never been linked to increased sex in teenagers or unsafe sex practices.
