He chuckled “its okay to be upset. I know its not easy…” his voice dropped as he looked over his shoulder at the box. Moving away he picked it up, peeking inside at the bird. Narrowing his eyes he slammed the lid back on it, setting it back in the corner. He looked up as...

"Maybe..." He kept his gaze ahead. Now he knew she didn't hear it, and for that he was a little bit grateful. How dare Aion trick them like that. Hopefully the bird would be okay by the time they go back. "I'm sorry I disappeared like that. I just wanted to make sure the little fella got some food too. I'll finish the rest of the chores if you want to take the rest of the day to relax." He offered a warm smile as they entered the dinning hall.

He looked down. “I tried to break the seal… By hurting you.” He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. Letting out a sigh he moved over to her “I’m sorry Rosette” he hugged her tight. He wasnt sure what he could really do. It was just a dream after all. The thought of Rosette getting hurt made his heart and stomach twist and turn however.

She stayed silent, deciding not to tell him what had happened next. With his arms around her, Rosette hugged back just as tightly. She knew it was a stupid fear, a meaningless dream, but it didn’t completely erase her fear. “No, I’m sorry,” she whispers, “I’m such a mess today. I wish I could forget it, because I know you would never do the things I was dreaming about.”

We don't want to be late again" He led her quickly from the room. He was sure she didn't hear it.

He stopped laughing as his smile fell to a worried look “Rosette…” He wasn’t going to push her into telling him, but he was rather curious “do you want to tell me what happened?”

Again, the nun nodded. Carefully, she set the bird gently into the box. Keeping her gaze...

Her heart was pounding in her chest. Shaking her head, trying to clear away the nightmare, she walked into the room. Keeping her hand...

He blinked and looked over hi shoulder "I cant show you in the hallway," he turned around to show her the small creature "I don't want any of the other nuns seeing him." He smiled half heartedly at her. "Are you okay Rosette? You look kinda pale." He stepped over, showing her the birds wing "I think a cat or something got him. I found him hopping around the well by himself last week. So I brought him back here till his wounds are healed."

His head shot up at Rosette’s shouting. “mmm?” Rubbing his eyes he stood up. A loud chirping came from the box at his side. “I guess I can show her now…” Opening the window he spotted her quickly “Rosette! Come up here! I have something to show you!” he smiled brightly. He looked down at the box again as the bird starting chirping louder. “Hurry up!” He shut the window and pulled the lid off again. He cracked a few more sunflower seeds as he waited for Rosette.

Looking around for Chrno, Rosette turned her head in the direction of his voice. A shiver went down her spine when she saw him by the same window in her dream. His cheerful voice that normally made her happy oddly filled her with dread. It was too similar to her dream. Blue eyes flashed with fear for a single moment. Before she could call back, he had closed the window. Forcing herself to swallow, she went up to the storage room, her walk void of any enthusiasm. Opening the door, Rosette peeked her head in. “Chrno?” she calls, trying to keep her voice steady. This was too similar to her dream. She only hoped this time, the ending would be different. A hand unconsciously went to the pocket watch around her neck as she waited for Chrno to speak.

He laughed as he waved her over from behind the pile "over here, but try to be quiet." he gently held the bird as he fed it another seed.

He chuckled and moved off her bed. “I’ll be waiting.” He smiled back at her as he headed for the door. Opening it he was surprised as some of the nuns fell to the floor. “Good morning” he stepped over them. He knew they were here for Rosette, to ask her a bunch of…

A loud sigh as he sat at one of the many empty tables. It looks like they had overslept, again. Setting the small bowl of grits down next to him he laid his head on his arms as he waited for Rosette. It was a miracle he had managed to get just one bowl of the grainy food before they started cleaning up. He smiled as he looked up, raising his head. She was almost running as she came barreling in. The other nuns must have been asking a lot of questions, probably more than she was willing to answer. “I saved you a bowl.” His smile was a bit forced as his stomach started feeling like it was eating itself. He wasn’t going to say anything though, lunch was just A few, short, four hours away anyway.

Running, Rosette had managed to get away from the other nuns. As she headed into the dining area, put of breath, she smiled at the sight of Chrno saving her a bowl of grits. “Thanks, Chrno,” Rosette says cheerfully. Her blue eyes didn’t miss the look of how Chrno was forcing his smile a little. He can’t hide his feelings when he’s around her. Guessing the reason, Rosette says, “Be right back.” The nun strides into the kitchen and grabs an empty bowl and spoon. Returning back to Chrno, she scoops out half the grits into the other bowl and sets it down in front of him. “You need to eat, too. We’ll have a larger lunch to make up for breakfast.” Siting in the chair next to him, Rosette takes her spoon and starts to eat.

A warm smile as he looked to her. “You know lunch is almost four hours away right?” He pushed the bowl back to her and stood up “you eat. I need to go check on something.” He started walking to the door, sliding out of Rosettes view he took off running down the hall to a storage room. Quietly closing the door he made his way around a large pile and sat down on his knees under the window. A small box was against the wall as he gently pulled into his lap. Taking the lid off he looked inside. “How are you feeling today?” The small bird looked at him curiously, its wing wrapped in a bandage. “Don’t worry, you’ll be able to fly again soon.” Pulling some baked sunflower seeds from his pocket, he set to work on cracking them open, feeding the small nut inside to the tiny friend.

Hours passed at he put the lid back on the box, settling back against the wall. His eyes drifting close as he faded off to sleep.

Before Rosette could protest, Chrno had already left the room. Staring at his bowl and the place he was just at, she sighs before continuing to eat. After breakfast, Rosette went straight into her chores. She was surprised to not see Chrno. He normally helped with chores. By the time it was nearly lunch, her chores were done and there was still no sign of Chrno. She had kept an eye out for him when she cleaned around the convent, but it seemed as though he disappeared into thin air. An eerie feeling came over her. This is similar to how her nightmare started, only now, she knew she was awake. "Chrno!" Rosette calls, "Where are you?"

His head shot up at Rosette's shouting. "mmm?" Rubbing his eyes he stood up. A loud chirping came from the box at his side. "I guess I can show her now..." A small hiccup as he sobbed quietly. Whatever he had done in her dream. Whatever he did to make her scream like that. He never wanted to hear her call his name like that again. His heart ached as he took deep breaths to calm himself back down. The cold metal of the pocket watch brushed his cheek as he turned his head to stare at it. If only he didn’t need a contract. If only he still had his horns. If only Joshua was still here. A long list of ‘if only’s ran through his mind as he sighed loudly.

Rosette held onto Chrno tighter, trying in her own way to calm his sobs. She hated being the source of his sorrow. “Chrno, it’s okay. It’s okay.” She remembered telling Azmaria it was okay to cry when she was sad. The same goes for Chrno, even if it’s painful for Rosette to see. He was so strong, it broke her heart to see him cry. Blue eyes gazing down at Chrno, she saw his gaze was on the pocket watch. Wondering if he was thinking about the time she had left, she moved a hand to it and lifted it over her head, taking the pocket watch off. Moving Chrno’s head, she made it so his ear was by her heart. “Just focus on that, okay? It’ll help calm you down. My mother used to do this for me when I was upset.”

His eyes widened as she took the watch off. Looking up he blinked as she pulled his head to her chest. Listening to her heart beat he smiled, it felt nice. Her heart beat was strong in his ears, his own echoing in time with hers. Closing his eyes he listened to it for a good ten minutes. The sound of her stomach growling made him chuckle as he pulled back, smiling at her. "thank you. We should get some breakfast."

He nodded but didn’t move away. “what happened…” He was referring to her dream. If there was anything he could do to ease her mind about it he would no questions asked. “did I… hurt you..” he choked out the words as his fingers gripped her night gown. He knew the answer was yes. And he knew he’d never do anything purposefully to hurt her. But the question that always came to his mind was, did she know that?

"It doesn’t matter now," Rosette tells him soothingly, "It was only a dream. It didn’t really happen, and I know it never will." She didn’t move away or lessen her grip on him. Though what had happened was still terrifying to her, she knew it was only a dream. Rosette could tell Chrno was upset, and he didn’t even know what had happened. She didn’t want him to distance himself away from her, and feared it may happen if she said.

Rosette tightened her grip on him as if her life depended on it. And, deep down, she did. Rosette has lost her parents, her home, her brother. All she had left was Chrno. If she lost him, she wouldn’t know what she would do. Having his arms around her forced the nightmare away from her mind. Just as she calmed him when he was enraged, he calmed her when she was scared. “It’s okay,” she whispers in his ear, “It was just a dream…I know it would never happen. You have nothing to be sorry for. Nothing. Okay?”

He nodded but didn't move away. "what happened..." He was referring to her dream. If there was anything he could do to ease her mind about it he would no questions asked. She stiffened at first when she felt a hand on her cheek, but when she realized the hand wasn’t going to her throat, she relaxed. Moving her gaze over to Chrno, the fear in her eyes went away. She guessed she was screaming out loud because there was pain in his eyes. Her hand shaking slightly, she leaned toward him and hugged him tightly. “Chrno…It was only a dream…Thank goodness…” Of course Chrno would never act like that. He would never hurt her in that way.

He stilled for a moment before wrapping his arms around her. There was so much he wanted to say, but where would he even start? Sorry I have to use your life force to keep myself alive? Sorry you probably wont even live past the age of thirty? His grip tightened a little as he buried his face against her. "I'm sorry..." was all he could manage

A bright light started to fill in the darkness from the corner of the room “LET GO ROSETTE!” His voice cracked as the light drew closer. He tried to go grab the watch himself, his hand being repelled in a flurry of sparks.

"ROSETTE! ROSETTE WAKE UP!" He gently shook her. She had been screaming in her sleep for a good ten minutes as he tried desperately to wake her up. Her nightmare was beginning to tug at his heart as she called out his name. Was he the one responsible for causing her to be in this condition?

As Chrno’s hand moved to her pocket watch, wanting to force the seal open, she was filled with dread. She couldn’t let him open the seal. If he did and kept it open, she would die before finding Joshua.

"No!" she cries out loud, not in her dream, "Chrno, stop!"

Hearing another voice, one that was kinder, Rosette’s eyes snapped open and she sat up in bed. Her eyes were wide, still showing fear from the nightmare. Her hand went to the pocket watch around her neck and felt a small comfort knowing it was properly sealed. Staring down at the sheets, she was still wrapped up in the dream, unaware at the moment Chrno was by her.
