"Of course. I always loved being outside." he said, smiling a little more "..in a little house like this, actually." The sun on his skin made him warmer, and helped him relax completely. He observed the watch and raised an eyebrow. "What is that?"
The nun smiled softly at Kenshin’s comment. It seemed he was finally happy, which was a good thing. She hated to bring him back to the convent without him enjoying himself. She was going to ask him about the house when he asked his question. Finally fixing the seal to be closed all the way, she glanced over at him. “This is a seal,” she explains, “It limits Chrno’s power. I made a contract with him, and now, I'm that only one that can let Chrno use his power."
"Maybe..." He kept his gaze ahead. Now he knew she didn't hear it, and for that he was a little bit grateful. How dare Aion trick them like that. Hopefully the bird would be okay by the time they go back. "I'm sorry I disappeared like that. I just wanted to make sure the little fella got some food too. I'll finish the rest of the chores if you want to take the rest of the day to relax." He offered a warm smile as they entered the dinning hall.
There seemed to be something on Chrno’s mind. Rosette wasn’t sure what it was, but it was best not to ask right now. The day’s been full of ups and downs already. Best not to rock the boat when it looked like things were starting to calm down again. At Chrno’s offer, the nun was tempted to have him finish all the chores by himself, but decided against it. “We’ll get done faster if we work together. Then, we can both get time to relax. Besides,” she says with an evil grin, “if you give me the chance to ignore work now, I may have you do all my chores from here on out.”
It took a while for Aoshi to fall asleep. The events earlier had him thinking. He still can’t quite believe about the demon he and the nun encountered. He thought co-humans are the worst enemies any person could fear. There is still something supernatural which is even more dangerous because even his sword is helpless against it. If there are creatures like that in Japan, then he can’t leave the nun alone to fight. He want to help her as much as he can. After a while of laying around,he finally falls asleep
Rosette slept well for the first time in a long time. She had finally destroyed the demon she was asked to, and now, all that was left was securing and making sure the city would be safe from any more demons. It would take a few days on her own, and hoped that the first demon here wasn't the sign of more to come. The next morning, the nun awoke completely refreshed. Deciding to keep the large box she carried on her back in here, she left her room and into the hallways, wondering where she could find food here.
Goku tucked his hands away into his pockets as he listened to the other talk and explain what had happened. Whoever this Aion guy was… if demons were hunting him too, he definitely couldn’t have been a good guy. “Jeeze… he did all of that? This guy sounds really dangerous…. any idea what he looks like? And I’m sorry I haven’t really seen anything, but I will definitely keep an eye out for you! I’m usually pretty good at finding people you know?~”
Rosette smiled softly. At least he didn't say she was crazy, as most people usually do at first. "Thanks. I'm grateful you'll keep an eye out for me. I honestly have no clue about what Aion looks like, but I doubt in a foreign country he wouldn't go far without Joshua. I would guess he's a tall man. Trust me, he is a dangerous demon. I don't know all he's done, but he's rotten to the core, and manipulative as well."
Glancing at the fire crackling, the nun picks up another log and sets it on the fire. She knew it would probably go out before morning, but it was best to keep it going as long as possible.
He chuckled “its okay to be upset. I know its not easy…” his voice dropped as he looked over his shoulder at the box. Moving away he picked it up, peeking inside at the bird. Narrowing his eyes he slammed the lid back on it, setting it back in the corner. He looked up as the lunch bell rang “ah. time to eat” he grinned as he took her hand “come on. We don’t want to be late again” He led her quickly from the room. He was sure she didn’t hear it.
Rosette moved her gaze curiously at Chrno when he dealt with the bird. He was so gentle with it before; to see him close the lid of the box rather forcefully was a surprise. Hearing Chrno talk about lunch, she gives a small nod as he took her hand. There were times it was hard to believe the smaller hand that had hers actually belonged to a demon. "Right. We don't want to be late." Rosette followed behind him out of the storage area. "I'm surprised things have been so calm in the city lately," Rosette comments as they head down the hall, "Do you think there's something going on we don't know about? With the demons, I mean."
"Sorry everyone! I thought I had a lead on where Joshua was, so I took off. There was no luck in finding him, but I'm sure I'm getting closer. Sorry for being away so long!"
“Wait, what? I can’t sleep there! I’m a nun, a religious woman! If I slept somewhere like that, Sister Kate would never let me hear the end of it! There’s got to be somewhere else!”
If consideration was something she asked from him, then it was definitely not her night. Perhaps, the unluckiest night of any nights that she has ever passed? The patrol was already getting late and with the people in the streets starting to get inside their house and spend their respectful family time, it was enough reason for him to hurry and finish his duty to get enough sleep, wasn’t it?
"Then, you can sleep by the riverbank and have some rogue samurai kill you by accident, if you like.~” he answered lightly, no guilt was able to be traced from his words which was soon continued with another words, “It’s the end of the week and most men are surely be drunk tonight.” And when they’re drunk, it’s time for danger.
Why wasn’t he going to offer her to rest in their headquarter? Simple. There was just too much work having to ask his superiors’ permission beforehand, not to mention that he was going to be the one doing the favor of explaining her situation for them. Nope, nope. Unless the situation was going to call for it.~
There was something about this man that was so irritating! Rosette couldn't place her finger on it, but she felt like she was being teased. He certainly wasn't helping anything, that's for sure. If Chrno was here, she would have released the seal just to see the look on this guy's face. Maybe then he would be more willing to help her.
The nun didn't want to sleep by the river bank. Not if there was the chance of getting killed. The light tone in his voice only fueled her dislike for him. Didn't he care if an innocent woman may be killed in the dead of night? Fine. If that's the way it was, she would just sleep by the river then. She had a gun. It may not be loaded with bullets that hurt people, but any attackers wouldn't know it. Giving a sly smile to herself, an idea hits her. Maybe, just maybe, she could bluff her way to a nicer place to stay. Who said a nun had to be kind all the time? She was human, after all. Humans make mistakes.
"The riverbank, you say? Alright then. Better than the red light district in my opinion. Guess I'll head there, then."
He couldn't be so heartless as to leave her in a situation where she may lose her life. If she stayed at it long enough, she may get a better answer of where a better inn is at, one that wasn't in a questionable area.
Ventus nodded, and reached a hand out. In a flash of light, a sword-like key appeared in his hand, and shows it to Rosette to see. ”This is the Keyblade. Many of them come in different forms, depending on the wielder. This one is called Wayward Wind, my personal Keyblade.” Ventus says, as he sets it down on the bed. ”Keyblades are very old weapons, used in the distant past against agents of darkness. There was a war that was fought many years ago as well, called the Keyblade War, that was waged to obtain the light of all worlds…but I forget what it was called though.” He added, as he sighed.
"Spirtual Power? I suppose those could also help out. I’ve been in few worlds that have such powers, and they did harm Heartless." Ventus looked over to Rosette, and nodded. "You’re pretty much set up for them if they do attack. Just dont get cocky though….Heartless are resiliant, and shouldnt be underestimated."
Rosette's blue eyes widened with surprise when an unusual looking sword came to Ven out of thin air. Looking at it carefully, she listens to Ven's explanation. It was an odd weapon, but if it stopped the Heartless, it must be powerful. At Ven's warning, the nun nodded.
"Don't worry, we won't underestimate them, Ven," she replies with a smile, "Hopefully, your stay here will be uneventful. It's incredible to know you fight them. Here, you have allies that are ready to help, okay? By staying here as a guest, you have the Order's full support."
Hmm so she got separated from her brother because of this Aion guy?It was bad to assume… but he had to ask. “Is this Aion person a demon…?” It wasn’t anything new to have demons kidnap humans. And if it did turn out that Aion was a demon, Goku had to wonder just what he wanted Joshua for. “Mm… I don’t think I have.” He shook his head, his lips pursing slightly. “Blonde hair around here isn’t really very common, so they would definitely stick out.”
At Goku's question, Rosette snaps her head to look at him. Has he had run-ins with demons before, too? She never expected him to ask the question, but at least now, she wouldn't sound crazy to confirm it. "Yes, he is," Rosette replies, "His full title is Aion the Sinner. He's gone rogue, and is hunted by other demons. He's trying to do something with my brother, but I can only guess. When my brother and I lived at the orphanage, he would show unusual talents. If I ever was hurt, he would be able to make the would go away, instantly healing it. Right before Aion took Joshua, he gave my brother horns of a demon I know. The last time I saw Joshua, the horns were attached to him, giving him demonic powers as well. The orphanage we were from, along with everyone that lived there, is now frozen in time." It was frustrating, to know Goku hasn't seen Joshua, but it wasn't a complete surprise. She's been told no plenty of times before in her search, but she would still hold onto the hope that he was around here. Maybe, if she was able to ask more people, she would find someone who saw him. Smiling sadly, she says, "I see. So you haven't seen him. Well, there's always tomorrow. I'm sure I can find a lead then."
Leading the way to the inn, Aoshi made sure the nun was following him . It was late at night, it wouldn’t do her good if she got lost along the way. Upon reaching the Aoiya, the former Okashira talked to the caretaker to give the nun a room to stay. Turning his attention back to her, he bowed and asked. “She will lead you to the room. Is there anything you need? If you do, just tell her and she will attend to it. Good night.” He bowed once more and retired to his room for the night.
Rosette followed as closely to Aoshi as she could, trying to match his strides. It may be late and dark, but she didn't see anyone else out. She could easily find him if for some reason they got separated. At the inn he mentioned, the nun waited until he was finished speaking to the owner. "Okay, thank you," she replies to him, "Good night." Following behind the woman, she was soon lead to her room. Rosette told her all she really needed was sleep. Once the woman left, Rosette got under the covers, not bothering to change into her nightgown, and quickly went to sleep.
//Off for tonight. Be back tomorrow, everyone. ^^
He looked down. "I tried to break the seal... By hurting you." He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. Letting out a sigh he moved over to her "I'm sorry Rosette" he hugged her tight. He wasnt sure what he could really do. It was just a dream after all. The thought of Rosette getting hurt made his heart and stomach twist and turn however.
She stayed silent, deciding not to tell him what had happened next. With his arms around her, Rosette hugged back just as tightly. She knew it was a stupid fear, a meaningless dream, but it didn't completely erase her fear. "No, I'm sorry," she whispers, "I'm such a mess today. I wish I could forget it, because I know you would never do the things I was dreaming about."
He stopped laughing as his smile fell to a worried look "Rosette..." He wasn't going to push her into telling him, but he was rather curious "do you want to tell me what happened?"
Again, the nun nodded. Carefully, she set the bird gently into the box. Keeping her gaze down, she let out a small sigh before speaking. "I had been looking for you all day. When I went to the well, I called out for you. You were here. You called out to me, saying you wanted me to come up here. I did. When I turned the corner, coming to this same spot, you...you tried to force the seal open. Then..." she trails off, unsure of how to continue.
He blinked "coming in here again?" What was she talking about "you sure you're feeling okay? You're talking nonsense again. You seem to be pretty fluent in it" he laughed as he teased her.
She nods, moving her gaze from the bird back to Chrno. "Yeah, I'm okay. It's just...up until this point, this is just what had happened in my dream," she replies, her voice just above a whisper. She's tried to push it away, but it seemed she wouldn't be able to get over it until she talked about what had happened.
