you know, i think the problem with the disney live action remakes is that they push them far too much, and too soon, as a seperate thing
take 101 Dalmatians. there was decades between the two versions, and all the merch still used the original's animated assets, and/or created new pieces but in the old style. we didn't have realistic Dalmatian toys, they still looked animated.
now take Moana. they're still promoting the animated's sequel while pushing the live action version of the original?? and all the merch and iconography is all realistic; yes we still have the animated stuff out at the same time too BUT this splits the focus.
does this apply to everything, no, but it's just something i was thinking about. because Dalmatians was the first live action remake, and it wasn't that bad a thing. nowadays though...yeah...

much appreciation for people who create ocs that are clearly derivative of The Character because even if the inspiration is clear, they had the self awareness that their headcanons had snowballed so far past character analysis into pure self indulgence that there was very little of source material left. and that’s beautiful. sometimes when you’re preoccupied playing touys it’s hard to take a step back and realize you’ve actually created something wonderful and new

It's such an amazing feeling when someone picks up on something in your writing that you 100% intended but didn't think people would notice. Like, YES!! My writing properly conveyed the thing it was supposed to!!! You are so awesome for noticing that!!! I am so awesome for writing that!!! I feel so good about my story now!!!!
