Fun stats:
---Slytherin and Gryffindor are the most common primary houses, tied at 8
---There are 6 primary Hufflepuffs, 4 primary Ravenclaws. I really tried to limit my Hufflepuffs, bc let’s face it, as a whole the Jellicle Cats are Hufflepuffs.
---Primary Hufflepuff, Secondary Ravenclaw is the most common type, with 4
---Ravenclaw is the most common secondary house at 10 (goodness that’s a lot)
---But it’s the least common primary house… I wonder what that says
---Hufflepuff and Gryffindor both have 6 secondary uses, Slytherin has 4
---There are no Hufflepuff , Slytherins, and that is the only combination not represented
---I personally think Ravenclaw, Slytherin is the most terrifying type, so Tantomile is the most dangerous cat in Cats, idk what to tell ya
---Many family* pairs ended up 'balancing out’, meaning having the two opposite houses, and thereby having all four between them. Ie Deut and Tugger, Bomba and Demeter, Bustopher and Misto, Macavity and Munk, Jenny and Jelly
---this ^ was not done on purpose, it just happened out like that while I was sorting
I based this mostly on the 1998 characterizations, personal fanon, and the Three Words for the actors
(Asparagus and Admetus as they exist in the 1998 film are omitted though, as their three words were only for Gus the theatre cat and Plato respectively)
Parameters I used while sorting:
Gryffindor --
brave, chivalry, helping others, daring
Stubborn, prideful, self-important, reckless
Run from a fight? Never!
I value my honor above all else
Hufflepuff --
Loyal, kind, accepting, hard work, patience, fair play
Soft, forgotten, self-effacing, mild
Run from a fight? Unless I need to protect someone I love
I value harmony and my loved ones above all else
Ravenclaw --
Wise, intellectual, creativity, wit, originality
Eccentric, superior, the mad scientists, isolation
Run from a fight? Back down with a scathing comment
I value my intelligence and my mind above all else
Slytherin --
Cunning, ambition, resourceful, perceptive, heritage
Bigoted, vain, vengeful, machiavellian
Run from a fight? Only to exact revenge later
I value my self above all else (heritage, ambition)
(these are obv generalizations, the thing I found most helpful for the sorting was the core values.)
I love seeing the variety of personalities between the same houses. We never aim to be limiting while sorting personality types!
I really want a Hogwarts AU now...someone should write it
Lmk what you think of the sorting! Agree or no?
K so I saw the tour of Anastasia last weekend and it was AWESOME and, having seen the broadway show, I have some observations :))
Lila Coogan and Jake Levy played Anya and Dmitry so much younger than christy and Derek and it was rly refreshing!
There was So. Much. Energy. Lila’s Anya is so much angrier than christy! XD
Her BELTS guys I can’t. Beautiful
She belts out “and I hear a voice whisper I’ll meet you right there in pariiiiiissss” and it hit me in a way it hadn’t before
When she says “I see flashes of fire, heard the echo of screams!” One it’s super powerful and awesome, and two she advances on Dmitry and just about belts in his face
The ensemble in St. Petersburg was on point, as were the auditioning Anastasias
They changed Learn to do It from the broadway lyrics and now Anya doesn’t have her “I’ve had it and I hate you both!” verse
Buuuut when Dmitry and Anya start dancing (after the lovably awkward Dmitry failing hard) they give conspiratorial smiles and chase Vlad around in their energetic jig and he exclaims “you monsters!”
I understand why anyas verse was cut but I did miss dmitry’s frustration and his and Vlad’s argument behind the chalkboard (he still got hit with it when Vlad turns it over)
When Anya fights the drunks she YELLS. XD Christy mostly screams but Lila has full on yelling and Dmitry looked genuinely scared for his life
Anya’s opening of the music box is a comic beat, and she does it in two quick turns then pop open as Dmitry says “it’s broken I can’t even open it” XD
Stay I Pray You was beautiful
It really HIT me when Anya and Dmitry (played younger) sang “you are all I know, you have raised me” Chills.
Sadly the train doesn’t spin, it’s still good tho
Still was soooo good
Journey to the Past was breathtaking 😍
Act II :))
When Vlad grabs Anya and dmitry’s hands at the beginning of Paris Holds the Key Dmitry is Scandalized/tm and shakes him off
Before Crossing a Bridge, Dmitry does the ‘I’m tired’ fake yawn and stretch and then SPRINTS to the hotel
The “signs” part of countess and common man was so LONG the audience was in stitches!
Biggest applause after
After the Nightmare and before crowd of thousands Anya and Dmitry say “thank you, you’re welcome” and it was the cutest awkward thing they turned away from each other like teenagers and dmitry’s voice got so high!
Quartet at the ballet was amazing!! Also biggest applause for the ballet dancers
When Dmitry says “woah better knock on wood!” He knocks on his head
Anya SCREAMS at Vlad and Dmitry
Due to blocking probably and acting, Anya picks up the doll “what is this?!?...I don’t WANT it!!” And /flings/ it halfway across the stage at Dmitry
She’s also hardcore yelling when the dowager comes
At the end, on the box Anya is actually taller than Dmitry (Christy is still shorter than Derek on the box) so she reaches down and kisses him and it felt so powerful for her XD
Everything was awesome, and amazing, and catch the tour if it’s coming near you!!
Jack considers Davey the smartest person he’s ever met because Jack has spent his entire life surrounded with people who have the same types of knowledge as him. Every newsie knows how to read a person’s face, judge the kind of things they want to hear to sell a paper. How to pick the best thread of truth to build a lie on that’s just fantastic enough it’s believable but so much more interesting than the actual story. It’s not anything special to know all the back ways, to be able to tell in an instant who he can trust and who would lie about the important things.
Davey is something special, something new, something different because Jack hasn’t ever met anybody who’s smart in the way Davey is. Who knows so many words and how to use them right, who’s read so many books. Who can identify the styles Jack uses in his art with big fancy words like realism and impressionism while Jack only knows what they look like and not what they’re called.
But for all those same reasons, Davey would call Jack the smartest person he’s ever met. Davey has known so many people who know the same things he does. Who have read the same books, taken the same classes. And yet for all his book smarts and big words, Davey Jacobs doesn’t have a map of the city in his head. He can’t tell the difference between a fake smile and a real one, and he can’t get away with lying even when he really needs to.
And Jack can. Jack can take simple words and put them in an order that gets people on his side faster than any fancy speech Davey could write. He can pick up a pencil and tell a story and show deep emotion with a few quickly done lines. He can run through alleys and swing up fire escapes and shout a quick apology to a woman he knows by name from meeting her once, while Davey is still struggling to learn some of the newsies’ names after months of knowing them. Jack can take one look at his boys and tell who needs an extra few pennies, and even though he might not even realize it, Jack had as much basic medical knowledge as half the doctors Davey’s ever met just from trying to take care of his boys for so long. He knows how to clean and dress a cut, he’s noticed what a difference rest makes for a cold, how sometimes a day inside under extra blankets and with extra food helps almost as much as the medicine they can’t afford. And all of those things make Jack Kelly the smartest person Davey has ever known.
