I JUST POSTED THIS SCENE TO MY INSTA STORIES TWO MINUTES AGO
Lemony Snicket, The Beatrice Letters
sunny baudelaire e magali seriam melhores amigas e ninguém me convence do contrário
lemony snicket said in atwq4 he didn't like the metamorphosis. friendship ended with lemony snicket
Yo guess who just joined VFD
guys pls help me out here give ur opinion
ive always wanted to get the vfd eye tattooed (since i first read the books when i was like 12) and now that im overage there's nothing stoping me from doing it but one thought
im afraid that the symbol could be mistaken as another thing? like some other cult or smt idk (like some people say the dark mark from hp is their su4st1c) you know???
so i wanted to ask if you think the vfd eye tattoo could relate to anything other than asoue or if im being paranoid
im halfway through my 3rd rereading of the penultimate peril and i think im hallucinating memories or something bc i could swear for my life that there is a scene where they explain what "brunch" and "incumbence" (idk if thats the world in english, i read the books in portuguese) mean. but apparently they dont??!?!?????? im going nuts over this
for some reason i always imagined fiona as a blonde and only now i realise why
Jacques and Kit were never mentioned to be twins in canon. The only sources for them being twins is the Snicket family tree, which had Jacques’ and Kit’s branches intersecting, as well as the promotional Snicket calendar, which stated January 12th as “Jacques Snicket’s birthday, as well as that of his sister.”
Wouldn’t it have been a very Snicket-esque thing to do if the calendar had said “Kit Snicket’s birthday, as well as that of her brother,” and no one would ever have known which brother was Kit’s twin?
it is funny bc malina and her sister share the same birth day but different years
in book 10 the Slippery Slope they talk about a paragraph of The Garden of Proserpine, poem by Algernon Charles Swinburne. I went to check out the whole poem and look at the first line
one more
i remember i figured out beatrice was the baudelaire's mother in book 6 when esme tells the children she wants to steal from them the way beatrice stole from her; and the children didn't question it nor asked who beatrice was (they only questioned about why esme wanted to steal if she was already super rich)
my train of thought was:
so the baudelaires know beatrice and apparently think it makes sense that they "pay" for something she did. it would be only logical to assume that beatrice was someone very close and/or related to them. so, their mother -- the only woman that is like this to the children. plus, it adds up with lemony dedicating the books to beatrice, since they're about her children.
Me whenever a word Lemony Snicket taught me comes up:
the snicketverse is a literary tragedy in itself by just existing, because it's such a complex, three-dimensional story that hides even more stories within it, and yet we're cursed to only ever be able to witness it from the perspective of lemony snicket. and we know for a fact that bitch isn't reliable in the least. like. he just straight up lies sometimes. like that scene from poison for breakfast where he told the reader about a conversation he had, only to reveal that he made it all the fuck up.
it's like looking through a filtered telescope; you know there's something blocking your full view, you're trapped in one specific perspective despite being made painfully aware that it'll never be the full truth.
idk something something the inherent tragedy of a biased and unreliable narrator, etc etc.
lemony snicket be like "a colleague of mine once said" and proceeds to quote fucking nietzsche or thoreau or congreve
ok so i was trying to say that lemony is friends with a bunch of famous real life thinkers that didnt live in the same time period. like even though nietzsche and thoreau were simultaneously alive at some point in the 1800's, congreve died in 1729, so lemony couldn't possibly meet with all three. anyway, asoue takes place at least in the 1900's bc there are computers.

i very much dislike how on the 2nd season of the series they made violet x duncan and klaus x isadora knowing damn well that violet's actual love interest is duncan's BROTHER quigley and klaus's is fiona. id rather have the baudelaires and the two quagmires to just become very good friends, since they're the first real friends they meet in a while, and leave the romantic interests to quigley and fiona on the 3rd season.
(i know that one can suppose that in book 5 they are romantically interested on eachother due to weird scenes like the sharing the same fork and drink thing but in the series it is almost canon, unlike in the book)
