tbh rey adopting the skywalker surname would just piss me off because it feels so unearned. their relationship was nonexistent. along with owning his father's lightsaber, she already took pretty much the same steps from luke's journey with barely any development at the expense of his characterization. they also implied that she will bring back the jedi order while his own efforts got reduced to nothing by disney. how much more from luke do they need to take to hand off to rey?

*whispers* it’s because they didn’t know how to write a decent lead character so they took everything Luke had and thrust it on her and called it a strong female lead.

Rey beat up Luke (which she shouldn’t have been capable of doing and was dumb as hell) in defense of a mass murderer and I’m supposed to believe she loves him enough to take his name?? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

same. i think it’s because at the time everyone was too high on “hathahate” to give her her dues. “she’s too annoying, a try-hard, too beige to be catwoman” - a lot of negative buzz over petty stuff. but she looked banging in tdkr and she rocked the performance.
