Gabriel awakes late at night, startled by his alarm. He set it 2 hours ahead of time to be early. He got up and checked everything. His tux laid out on the end of the bed with accessories and top hat. Tonight was gonna be big, well for his brother. His job was to pass out and prepare food, serve drinks here and there. He basically ran the food table. His life was real enough, although he felt as if he has replayed this night many times. He had a memory of his brother yelling at him for wasting drink, although he was still in the middle of dressing up. How did this happen. Was he in a never ending story? It seemed like it, but he shook it off. “Tonight’s important, I can’t mess it up!” With that, he grabbed everything he needed and loaded his car. This Halloween could make or break his brother’s rep at school. He cared a lot for his brother and even masked his face so no one would assume he was a loser for having a loser brother. Gabriel didn’t care about much, but his brother made the list.

Helen rolled her eyes as another ‘snot nosed brat’ walked over to receive his Santa hat and present. She didn’t want to spend her day like this, she was better than everyone her, including her mother who dragged her to the school she worked at. The school had a lot of poor kids, so her, being used to the ones around her being dressed up 24/7, didn’t enjoy the company of lower class children being so close. She didn’t like being nice to the one below her. As the kid gets lost in the far crowd, she looks at her phone, 2:04 PM, almost time to go home. She smiled slightly, but it disappeared as another person approached her. By now her head was lowered so she wouldn’t have eye contact. The person was an older woman, dolled up and fancy smelling. When Helen looked over her phone at the woman’s shoes, she gasped and looked up quickly. “Ma’m?” Helen was almost sweating and flushed with embarrassment. The woman sighed and shook her head. “Helen, I don’t know how you’d want anyone to hire you with such low respect. I’d swear you respect those Instagram celebs more than your dream boss. Now, I need a word with you.” Helen had a confused look on her face, barely taking in the words that were spoken so rapidly in that foreign accent. “Y-yes, Ms. Blage?” The woman poked her lip out and folded her arms, then looked into her purse. She rummages through the expensive bag and took a note in hand. She handed it to Helen. “Sell 5 Holiday Baskets by 9:30 PM?” The confused expression returned. “What?” The woman face palmed and gave a long sigh. “I want you to sell 5 of these baskets by 9:30. It’s your first task as my newest employee.” Helen smiled and stood up. “Yes ma’am!” The woman nodded and walked away. Day 1: Sell 5 Holiday baskets before time runs out!

Iris was often found on top of the school building. She’d always make a little puddle of her yellow goo to swim in when stressed. Today something unusual was bothering her, her best friend, Kim. Kim was always the nerdy type who came to school all the time, made amazing grades, never missing a day to succeed. Today was off, mostly because he wasn’t there. He has been sick with the inkling flu. She hated to admit it, but she was pretty lonely and sad without him. She wasn’t well liked among the other inkling girls and boys. She had a bad attitude and refused to speak to anyone other than Kim. She saw herself as above them. When Kim wasn’t there, the inkling kids got to her, she’d snap and get into more trouble than ever. She hated it. The only other time she could let out her anger or stress was in battle. She loved to cover the walls and floors in her lemon color. It was so…satisfying!
