tragedy (t) - beatrice wright, along with her husband stephen meeks, release protest letters to rally protesters into ending the vietnam war. with threatening mail coming in and the draft leaving beatrice to fend for herself, she must fight this tragedy by herself (discontinued)

dps 2: electric boogaloo — incoherent ramblings of what happens at welton academy thirty years on, featuring a very dramatic and bisexual todd anderson, children who aren't close with their vietnam veteran parents, and the revival of the dead poets society (general tw for talk of neil's suicide) (currently rewriting these hcs are really old so you can still read them if you want just know i'll come out with something that makes this story moot lol)

idk the whole "dead poets society is a terrible argument for humanities" thing falls apart the moment you remember that mr keating's class had literally never read poetry before and were never asked how they felt about anything. did you get a phd in english bc you loved making citations for plays only four people remember and writing a 29837487 page paper on a single year of prose and its connection to the political and economic state of england? or did you do it bc when you were ten you picked up a random book in your elementary school library that fundamentally changed your thought process and you loved the characters so much it made your stomach hurt and you collected all of the books in the series well into adulthood bc ten year old you would have loved them?

hey so fun fact! typically, novelizations of movies use early versions of the script as a basis for the prose. when i say early version i mean like. possibly the first draft.

all kleinbaum did (most likely) was translate the script format into prose. she (most likely, again) did not actually write an original word. it would have been tom schulman's doing; this would have been before rewrites and way before peter weir made changes.

i don't know any specific details of it, but from what i know about it, that's probably how it went. i also hate the novelized version, but it's not nancy kleinbaum's fault. she was just doing her job with a shitty script.
