For those living in the Southern Hemisphere ::
There's a particular ache in the not-yet: in having kept faith through the fallow dark, tended the flame through the long Winter, and still seeing no green break the surface. One begins to wonder whether anything is happening at all, whether the tending has been for nothing.
Yet late Winter holds a gentler truth :: life stirs long before it shows. Beneath the untouched soil, the seed has already cracked and the root has already turned toward its work. The tantric traditions name this first movement spanda: the subtle pulse of stirring life, the first vibration of what's becoming, and it arrives well before anything is visible above the ground.
What this season asks isn't the forcing of the green, for it's the faith that keeps tending the stir one cannot yet see. Dharma quickens the way all life does: invisibly first, faithfully tended, and then, almost suddenly, unmistakably alive. The stir beneath is real, even now, even before it shows.
