Contrary to what might be presented as strength, anger is an emotional display of powerlessness. The core of anger is fear and anger is just the defensive shield. Fear can be like white hot coals and without awareness when someone comes to close, they are very likely to get burned. What are people so fearful of, why so much anger? Ultimately we are afraid of death.. sounds super intense but it’s true. Let’s break that down... We are wired to survive we need shelter, food, sex and a position in the tribe. When our needs are threatened in any capacity we get fearful and bust out our anger defensive shields. We fear dying and we fear that our persona (ego) or how we are perceived in society will be annihilated in a social death. When do you get angry? When things aren’t going the way you planned or the way you wanted? When someone mistreats you? When someone lies to you? In traffic? At co-workers? Family members? Politicians?!!? What are you saying with your anger? You’re declaring that you’re losing power and control in the situation. Sometimes that feeling is righteous and you should be angry. While other times it’s a lack of awareness, an emotional habitual pattern of responding with anger. Meditation grows the space between your thinking and your actions. You have the clarity to evaluate the thought for its relevance. You learn to give up the resistance to the present moment and accept what is in front of you. The resistance to what is happening in the moment is where suffering lives. With practice meditation detaches you from your destructive thinking. You develop that ability to see situations from an aerial view. Seeing situations from a higher perspective can realign your actions to match the intention of your life, to be happy. No more giving your power away unconsciously, leaving you feeling regretful and drained of energy. https://www.instagram.com/p/ByI6ebHgOcJ/?igshid=rfvxszsftqhj
