[welcome to track 19!]
welcome to Tokyo, Japan: the hotspot for pop culture! you, a singer and songwriter, wrapped up your tour for your last album six months ago. things got... messy, and you needed a break. but now you're back and ready to finish your next album! what will be the inspiration for this one?
Your phone buzzes at 11:57, and you check your reflection one more time before grabbing your purse and heading out the door. Satoru stands by the car, already in the motion of opening the car door for you. You greet him with a quick hello and a kiss, then thank him and settle into your spot as he walks back around his car to get in the driver seat.
"So, popstar," he begins as he puts the car in drive and pulls out of your driveway. "When do I get the details on this music video?"
You giggle at his urgency. "When we're at the studio."
"What?" Satoru groans. "I have to wait that long?"
"Yes," you nod.
"Ugh." Satoru turns and looks at you over the rims of his sunglasses, quickly winking before returning his gaze to the road. "At least let me hear some other songs too for being so patient and such a good boyfriend?"
You shake your head. "Maybe."
βIβll take it!β Satoru beams like you just handed him a Grammy instead of a vague promise. Then, without missing a beat, he leans over to press a kiss to your cheek.
βSatoru!β you yelp, laughing as you jerk slightly away. βYouβre driving!β
He only shrugs, grinning like heβs the poster boy for recklessness in love. βSo worth it.β
The rest of the drive is filled with his dramatic fake-sulking, complaining about being withheld music video details like heβs been emotionally wronged, and your laughter spilling out the passenger side window. He makes up entire fake songs based on your album titles and insists you give him a songwriting credit for emotional support. By the time you pull up to the studio, Satoru is practically vibrating with excitement. He puts the car in park with exaggerated flourish, and looks at you with the earnestness of someone about to make a life-changing confession. He leans across the console, hands dramatically clasped in his lap.
βBefore we go in," he says, and you watch him lick his lips before going on, "I just want to say that I have been the picture of patience, and I believe this deserves a reward. Maybe in the form of you naming a song after me?"
You arch a brow, fighting a smile. βYou mean the reward is not simply basking in my presence for the afternoon?β
You snort, unbuckling your seatbelt and picking up your bag. βA song named after you, huh? Thatβs a big ask. What would I even call it?β
Satoruβs face grows contemplative. βI mean, something timeless, obviously. It has to be a hit. Maybe My Boyfriend is the Best. That flows off the tongue real well."
You canβt help but laugh, rolling your eyes while you slide your bag over your arm and rest it on your shoulder. βOh, so modest of you. And whatβs track two called - Humble?β
"No, that's already a song." Satoru shakes his head. He hops out of the car, jogging around to your side and opening your door with another exaggerated bow. βTrack two could be called My Gentleman, because I am most definitely yours, and I am, indeed, a gentleman."
You laugh as you take his hand and step out of the car. βAll these ideas and not one called Delusions of Grandeur?β
"The only delusions I have, my love," he says, bringing the back of your hand toward his lips, "are about how Iβm supposed to survive a whole day around you without falling even harder. Which, by the way, is statistically impossible at this point.β
You groan, trying not to grin as he kisses your knuckles with just enough sincerity to make your heart stutter. βYouβre insufferable,β you whisper, but your voice is soft and hopelessly fond.
He straightens, still holding your hand, his eyes shining with all the lightness and mischief youβve come to love. βI know. Itβs my greatest talent. Second only to being your number-one fan.β
You squeeze his hand, letting the affection spill over into a small, exasperated laugh. Heβs looking at you with so much open adoration, itβs almost impossible not to close the space between you. So you donβt resist, and you lean in, catching him by surprise with a kiss thatβs meant to be quick, but lingers just a moment longer than planned. He melts instantly, lips smiling against yours. His free hand comes up to cradle your cheek, thumb brushing lightly over your skin as if he canβt quite believe youβre real. After a moment, you pull away slowly, his breath still warm against your lips. Neither of you says anything. Thereβs just the soft hum of the city around you, the gentle heat of the sun through the clouds, and the closeness that feels like something suspended in honey.
βCome on,β you murmur, your voice low and affectionate as your fingers thread through his. βYouβve waited this long. Letβs get you your reward.β
Inside, the air is cooler, crisp with the faint scent of coffee and worn leather, buzzing softly with the low hum of electronics and muted voices behind glass. The studio feels like a second skin to you by now, a quiet kind of sacred, lined with velvet-draped sound booths and racks of cables you could probably navigate with your eyes closed. But Satoru walks like heβs in a museum of magic, reverent and loud all at once, eyes wide behind his sunglasses as he scans the gold records and photo frames on the wall.
As you approach, the studio door swings open, revealing Nanami, your producer, standing at the soundboard with his usual composed, slightly bored expression. His sleeves are rolled up neatly, his glasses perched precisely on his nose. Nanami glances up, nodding at you. He adjusts his tie as he speaks. βYouβre on time today. Impressive.β
"Hello to you too, Nanami," you greet with a grin.
Nanamiβs eyes flicker with a hint of amusement that softens the edges of his chronic stoicism. βI see you brought company.β His gaze shifts to Satoru, taking in the sharp suit, the boyish energy, the clear air of someone who is very used to being the center of attention.
"Satoru Gojo," your boyfriend says which extending his hand to shake Nanami's. The blond stares down at the hand for a moment before taking it in his own, shaking firmly as Satoru continues speaking. "I am her number one fan and am here to see how the magic is made. And, perhaps, add some background vocals? I have been practicing my high notes-"
Nanami releases Satoruβs hand with a flat expression. βLetβs avoid that,β he says dryly, then turns to the soundboard.
"Oh, I like him," Satoru whispers to you - very poorly so, as Nanami hears every word.
Your producer clears his throat pointedly, shooting Satoru a dry look over his shoulder. βIβm thrilled,β he flatly says, adjusting a dial on the soundboard with practiced ease. βNow, if we could return to the actual purpose of todayβs session?β
You flash Nanami a grateful look and give Satoru a warning nudge with your elbow, which only earns you an exaggerated wink and a silent promise to behave for now. You settle into your favorite spot by the console, letting your bag drop to the floor and tucking your legs beneath you as you start pulling up the session files.
βOkay,β you say, your voice carrying a thread of anticipation as you scroll. βSince youβve waited so patiently, Mr. Number One Fan, you get to be the first person outside the team to hear the mastered version.β
Satoru straightens up, as attentive as youβve ever seen him, all bravado melting into something genuine. βIβm honored. Truly. I might cry. Tears of joy, of course."
You hit play, and the room fills with the familiar shimmer of the opening bars of Please Please Please - the instrumental at the beginning, the hint of your humor in the lyrics as you sing. Satoru takes in each lyric, the raw ache and playful apprehension you and Nanami created through the melody that is now blooming into the air between you.
After the final chorus, the music fades out, and you nervously turn to Satoru. You're surprised to see that no, he does not have a look of disgust on his face. No, he's not faking a pitiful smile, and his eardrums are not bleeding, as far as you can tell. Actually, his eyes sparkle with glee, and he looks as though he has witnessed a miracle right here, right before his eyes, and it's not that you just played the final demo of a potential future single.
You hesitate. He seems like he liked it, but he hasn't said anything yet, and the room is awkwardly still aside from the constant buzz of the still-on soundboard. Just as you are about to say something, Satoru breaks into a grin even more wide, so wide itβs almost blinding, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, absolutely beaming at you like youβve just handed him the world, neatly packaged in three minute and six second song.
He breathes out, βHoly shit,β with the unfiltered awe of someone whoβs just found out magic is real and it sounds like your voice hitting those soft high notes. A entire song dedicated to begging him to behave? Satoru cannot believe his luck right now. How he loves being a muse, your muse.
"So, do you like it?" you ask. There's a bit of heat in your cheeks, unsure how to receive his reaction so far.
"Yes! Yes, yes. I love it- sorry. I'm just," Satoru pauses as he finds the right word before continuing, "speechless. Like, for real. Your voice never fails to amaze me."
Immediately, your face turns up in a smile, the praise making your heart race. "Thank you, Toru."
"Were we showing him the other one?" Nanami inquires, and Satoru, although he forgot the other man was there, jumps on this idea without a second thought.
"Another one? Uh, yes. She promised me," he answers. "Right?"
Nanami glances at you, already setting up the next track on the console with smooth efficiency. βYou said there was another you wanted to show him. Theβ¦ suggestively titled one?β
You giggle. "It's not that suggestive, Nanami. You can just say Bed Chem. You don't have to sensor it."
"Wait," Satoru interjects with wide eyes and urgency. "You have a song called Bed Chem?"
"It's more of a demo right now," you shrug.
"Still!" he exclaims. "Can I hear it? Please?"
You glance over at Nanami who raises a brow at you. You nod, and after pressing a few buttons, the beat of the song begins. The song is mostly done, the vocals recorded and most of the music arranged by Nanami done; on the other hand, harmonies and backing vocals are needed, and some areas need reworked. Still, you are excited to show him what you crafted.
Satoru is more reactive during this song. He tilts his head during the chorus, head nodding with the rhythm of the music. He smiles at the lyrics, knowing they are, at least loosely, inspired by him. The chorus hits and he chuckles under his breath, tapping a foot along with the music. As the song goes on, your voice dances over the melody, teasing, sultry, and impossible to misinterpret. Every so often, Satoru glances at you, a look of dawning realization and mischief blooming on his face, like heβs seeing every memory that inspired the lyrics flash before his eyes.
The song cuts out, and Satoru doesn't wait this time. Immediately, he's kissing you on the cheek and going on and on about how honored he is to have a song written about him, quoting the line: "Who's the cute guy with the wide blue eyes and the big bad mm? Like". He calls you horny Shakespeare, and Nanami, bless him, audibly groans.
βPlease,β the producer mutters, pinching the bridge of his nose, βdo not encourage her.β
But Satoru is far from done. Heβs practically glowing, all energy and limbs as he throws a hand over his heart like heβs been personally serenaded by divinity itself. βHorny Shakespeare!β he repeats, triumphant. βThatβs you, baby. Thatβs your new genre. Weβre coining that.β
"We?" You laugh.
"Yes, we. I'm gonna be in this music video, too!"
"I haven't even told you the idea for the first one, yet!"

plot: after overhearing their sensei on the phone, nobara and yuuji begin to conspire about who Satoru Gojo was calling sweetie - only to learn he's married?
content: just typical lighthearted jujutsu high kinda things

note: he's so husband
"Sensei!?" Nobara Kugisaki exclaims in disbelief. "He is in a relationship? Are you sure?"
"Positive!" Yuuji Itadori aggressively nods his head up and down in attempt to convince his classmate of what he saw, knowing she is doubting his integrity. "He was on the phone with someone talking about them coming home and called them sweetie. What else could that mean?"
"Um, a lot of things!" Nobara audibly rolled her eyes, sighing loudly and bringing her palm to her forehead in distress. "It could be, like, family. Maybe his mom, or his... sister? Does he have a sister? There is no way that man-child is in a relationship!"
"Sensei is not a man-child! He's very respectable!" Yuuji defends the honor of his teacher. "And I don't think he has a sister..."
"Respectable, my ass," Nobara quips under her breath, though she knows that as much as she may deny it, she respects her superior, Gojo, immensely; in all honesty, she looks up to him more than she'd like to admit to herself. He is obviously strong, titled The Strongest Sorcerer by the entirety of the Jujutsu society for a reason. Kugisaki has learned a lot from him and his untraditional teaching strategies - about both her own talents and about the world of jujutsu. However, his childish personality makes her second-guess trusting the authority, but it is a nice change from the intensity of the career path she has chosen.
To Nobara, Satoru Gojo is like a breath of fresh air from the pressure of her environment that suffocates her day after day. He brightens her days by buying his first-years sweet treats after missions he oversees and cracking lame jokes, teasing his students as he so loves to do. He endures her criticism and teenage attitude, even going as far as sassing her right back. Nonetheless, she keeps this information hidden from the outside world, opting instead for criticizing his immaturity.
"Hey, that's our sensei!" Itadori exclaims in anguish.
"Ugh. Seriously, who would willingly put up with... that?" the girl questions and motions in the direction of the school behind her, an attempt at pointing in their teacher's direction. Her nose is scrunched in scrutiny, her eyebrows furrowed in thought, and she is stuck in a neverending state of disbelief. "Right, Fushiguro?"
Megumi only hums in response, not bothering to articulate his opinion, as, soon enough, he is certain his classmates will learn for themselves who Gojo was talking to.
"Like, literally any person who respects themself would obviously steer very clear from him," she says, motivated by what she interpreted as Megumi agreeing with her. "Like Mr. Nanami!"
Yuuji stares at Nobara, his mind encapsulating him in an impossible mystery he hungers to solve. While there is always the possibility he heard wrong, he is almost one-hundred percent confident he in what he eavesdropped in on and reported back to his classmates. However, maybe he is assuming things and his teacher was just speaking to family - wait, does Gojo even have family? Obviously he has his clan which he is the main representative of, but nothing about parents or siblings has ever been spoken about by the man, nor has he ever mentioned a potential partner. If sensei was a private person with his relationships, then one would think he would not be such an open book all the time about every detail of his life.
"I dunno..." Yuuji contemplates, though he does not get the chance to continue his thoughts. Saving Yuuji from continuing down the spiral he is already racing down headfirst in, Nobara squeals a little before covering Yuuji's mouth with her hand.
"He's on his way over! Don't say a word," she warns.
Yuuji mumbles into her hand. His voice is muffled through her, but a confused what? can sort of be made out from it.
Megumi rolls his eyes at their antics, well aware of who his teacher was talking to on the phone call Itadori overheard, but not caring enough to confirm it to them. He kind of found it funny, actually. After all, you are the closest thing he has to a mom, raising him from when he was a child alongside Gojo, balancing his childlike mentality with your more maternal and serious one.
"Morning!" Gojo greets his students, chronically late as always.
"About time," Megumi groans.
"Sorry, buddy! Had some things I had to do. Y'know, places to be, people to talk to. But I'm here!" Gojo poses slightly as if to showcase himself to the teens in front of him. His hands are imitating jazz hands to emphasize his arrival.
Gojo pauses, sensing the heavy scrutiny from his students. His smile widens, curiosity twinkling mischievously behind his blindfold.
βOh?β he hums lightly, leaning toward them with playful suspicion coloring his tone. βWhatβs with the faces? Did you all miss me that much? Kugisaki, I knew you secretly liked me!"
Nobara flushes a shade akin to outrage, sputtering indignantly, βYou wish, sensei! Keep dreaming.β
Gojo laughs, carefree and vibrant. βYouβre always so mean to me. Youβre breaking my delicate heart here.β
Megumi rolls his eyes again, but thereβs a barely noticeable upturn at the corner of his lips. He enjoys the familiarity of their banter, even if heβd never admit it aloud.
Yuuji, however, cannot keep silent. His eyes practically sparkle with the burning question. βSensei, who were you talking to on the phone just now?β
Nobara shoots him a glare sharper than daggers, but Yuuji remains unfazed, his gaze intensely fixed on his teacher.
βPhone call?β Gojo tilts his head innocently, playing dumb as effortlessly as he uses his limitless technique. βIβve talked to plenty of people today, Yuuji. Youβll have to be a bit more specific.β
βUh,β Yuuji stammers, suddenly unsure how to phrase it. βYou called someone sweetie-β
Nobara cuts in desperately, βWhich is weird, because we all know youβre single. No one in their right mind would put up with you."
Gojoβs smile softens at the edges, something gentle and private easing into the lines of his face. Itβs subtle enough that they might have missed it, but Megumi sees it clear as day. βOh, that call,β Gojo finally sighs dramatically, lifting his chin proudly. βI suppose it was bound to come out eventually.β
Nobaraβs eyes narrow, and her whole body stiffens, as though bracing herself for some kind of cosmic joke. βBound to come out eventually?β she echoes. βOh my god, youβre actually serious right now?β
Gojo straightens up, his hands dropping to his sides as a rare moment of honesty glimmers behind his usual antics. βDead serious.β
Nobara makes a strangled sound. βNo. Nope. Not buying it. Not until I see her with my own eyes.β
βYouβll get your chance,β Gojo says with a shrug, as if heβs announcing the weather forecast. βSheβs stopping by soon to bring me lunch.β
Yuuji, meanwhile, is positively buzzing. βSheβs coming here? Like, here-here? When? Is she nice? Is she pretty? Do we need to prepare? Nobara, do we need to prepare?!β
βIβm not preparing anything,β she bites out, crossing her arms. βIn fact, Iβm preparing to prove this is all some elaborate prank. Like a cursed illusion or some weird social experiment.β
βYouβre right,β Gojo muses, tapping his chin with mock gravity. βLove is the most cursed thing of all.β
Megumi makes a noise somewhere between a sigh and a groan. βYouβre all being ridiculous.β
Nobara rounds on him again, a gasp escaping her. βYou knew?β
He shrugs, deadpan. βYou didnβt ask.β
Yuujiβs jaw drops. βTraitor!β
Megumi only offers a faint smirk in response, folding his arms in a clear sign that heβs already lost interest in the theatrics of his classmates.
βI canβt believe Fushiguro knew this entire time and didnβt tell us!β Yuuji whines, his tone dramatically wounded.
Gojo places a hand over his heart, feigning deep offense. βFushiguro, how could you betray their trust like that?β
Megumi meets Gojoβs dramatics with a flat stare. βI figured youβd embarrass yourself sooner or later.β
βOuch!β Gojo laughs, clearly unbothered. βYou kids wound me. Why am I being bullied by my own dear students?β
βSensei,β Nobara interrupts sharply, eyes narrowed in challenge, βthereβs still a chance this could all be a cruel prank. Iβll reserve my shock until I meet this mysterious... person of yours.β
As if summoned by Nobaraβs skepticism, footsteps echo softly from around the corner, carrying a warmth and calm that instantly changes the atmosphere around the little group. You appear at the edge of the training grounds, a gentle smile lighting up your face when you spot Gojo. Immediately, he turns toward you, his expression melting into something softer, more tender.
βAh, there she is,β Gojo says warmly, voice gentle enough to silence even Nobaraβs pointed skepticism. He steps toward you, effortlessly accepting the lunch bag you hold out for him. Leaning down, he presses a swift, tender kiss to your forehead. βThanks, sweetie.β
You smile up at him, affection etched delicately into your features as your fingers brush gently against his cheek. βYouβre welcome. Figured youβd forget to eat if I didnβt.β
Gojo hums appreciatively, his smile wide and unguarded. βWhat would I ever do without you?β
βProbably starve,β you joke lightly, your eyes sparkling as your laughter mingles easily with his.

Behind you both, Yuuji is barely containing his excitement, practically bouncing on his heels as he elbows Nobara repeatedly. βDid you see that? They- she- he- β
βYeah, Itadori, I have eyes,β Nobara mutters, though she sounds far less sharp than usual, her disbelief rapidly dissolving into fascination.
Beside her, Megumi exhales through his nose, quiet but not dismissive. Thereβs a flicker of something softer in his eyes as they land on you. βI thought you were in Kyoto for an assignment.β
You nod, easy and calm. βI was, but I finished ahead of schedule. Surprise!β
Yuuji perks up, practically bouncing with interest. βWait, what do you do exactly? Are you a sorcerer? I've never seen you around before...β
βNot exactly. Iβm a jujutsu researcher,β you reply, tone steady but warm. βMy focus is on understanding the emotional roots of curses. I was reviewing formation patterns at the archive in Kyoto and trying to trace how grief, fear, and trauma shape the energy that creates them.β
The courtyard falls quiet, the usual chaos of their group hushed by the weight of your words.
Nobaraβs jaw drops, caught between awe and disbelief. βWait. You study the psychology of curses?β
You nod again, offering a small, knowing smile. βWe focus so much on exorcising curses that sometimes we forget to ask why they form in the first place. Not just where or how, but what kind of pain shapes them. What grief, what fear, what unresolved emotion manifests into something as malignant as a cursed spirit.β
Gojo, still chewing a mouthful of whatever you packed for him, raises a finger and adds with a mouthful, βSheβs brilliant. Like, scary brilliant. Makes even me look like a loser.β
βYou are a loser,β Megumi mutters under his breath, though thereβs no heat behind it.
βBut wait,β Yuuji says, eyes wide and burning with curiosity. βSo youβre like, a curse therapist?β
You laugh, the sound light and unguarded. βIn a way, I guess you could say that. I study how peopleβs emotional states affect the strength and shape of the curses they attract, or even create. Sometimes I work with sorcerers whoβve formed semi-conscious cursed techniques tied to past trauma. If we can untangle the memory, the technique stabilizes.β
βThatβs insane,β Nobara says, her disbelief now tinged with respect. βI didnβt even know that was possible.β
βItβs still experimental,β you admit, brushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear. βBut I think itβs worth trying. If we can find a way to understand the why, maybe fewer people will need to suffer through the what.β
Gojo watches you with a quiet sort of reverence, one hand still resting lightly on your back, grounding you there beside him. βTold you,β he murmurs. βWay out of my league.β
You shoot him a sideways glance. βYou're the one who never did your homework.β
He gasps in mock offense. βBetrayed in front of my students? Iβm wounded.β
βYouβll survive,β you reply sweetly, already used to his dramatics.
Yuuji, visibly starstruck, nudges Nobara again. βSheβs likeβ¦ cool and smart and nice. What the hell?β
βI know,β Nobara whispers back, still staring at you. βI was expecting, like, a cursed puppet or something. Not this.β
You laugh again, this time unable to help it. βYouβre all very sweet. But really, Iβm just trying to help where I can. My work takes me to a lot of places, but I always try to stop by when Iβm back in Tokyo.β
βShe also makes the best miso soup on Earth,β Gojo says proudly, lifting the thermos you packed like itβs a sacred relic. βAnd she listens to me complain about Nanami, which is honestly more than anyone should have to do.β
Nobara doesnβt respond immediately. Her arms are still crossed, but her posture has softened, her expression unreadable in a way that means her mind is sprinting miles ahead. βSheβs way too good for him,β she mutters at last.
Gojo catches it instantly. βHey! I heard that, Kugisaki!β
She glares at him. βYou were meant to, sensei. Ugh! I still donβt get it,β How does someone like you end up with... him?β
You laugh aloud. "I ask myself that everyday."
Gojo groans, wrapping one of his long arms around your shoulders and pulling you tight against his side. "Hey! Rude. I met her the first day here at Jujutsu High and was immediately head over heels!"
You snort softly at the exaggeration, but Gojo only beams harder, chin tilted with theatrical pride.
βIβm serious!β he insists, tightening his hold around you. βI saw her standing in the courtyard, reading some dusty journal on cursed energy theory, and I thought: wow. Thatβs the woman whoβs gonna bully me for the rest of my life.β
βAnd you were right,β you reply, patting his chest with mock sympathy. βI havenβt stopped since.β
Yuuji gasps like heβs watching a romance drama unfold in real time. βWait, so you were classmates? You trained together?β
Gojo nods, clearly pleased with the attention. βWe were in the same year. Dr Iieri, Mr. Geto, her, and me. Absolute dream team.β
Nobaraβs brows furrow. βSo youβve known each other this whole time and just- what? Never told anyone?β
"I mean, our wedding was pretty big. Megumi was the ring bearer," Satoru points out.
You bite back a laugh, glancing sideways at your husband as you elbow him gently. βSatoru.β
βWhat?β he says, all faux innocence, lips twitching. βIt was a beautiful ceremony. Cherry blossoms. Champagne. Nanami even cried.β
βNanami did not cry,β you correct with a soft snort.
βHe definitely teared up,β Gojo insists. βAsk Shoko. She made him hold the bouquet while we took photos.β
βHold on, back up,β Nobara interrupts, voice high with disbelief. βYouβre telling me youβre married to Gojo Satoru, and none of us knew?β
You lift a shoulder, casual. βWe didnβt exactly hide it.β
βYes you did!β Yuuji cries. βYouβre literally hiding a whole spouse! Thatβs the definition of hiding!β
Gojo shrugs unrepentantly. βIn my defense, I thought it would be obvious. Iβm charming, sheβs brilliant. It was fate.β
Megumi lets out a long-suffering sigh, clearly done with all of this. βYouβre all loud. Can we go back to training now?β
βNo,β Nobara says sharply, still stuck on the revelation. βI need at least ten minutes to mentally recover from the image of Gojo Satoru saying I do.β
Gojo grins. βYou shouldβve heard my vows. Very moving. I cried."
βAnd I,β you interject sweetly, βvery nearly walked out.β
Gojo gasps in offense, hand to his chest like youβve run him through with a cursed tool. βYou didnβt!β
βI did,β you confirm, turning to Nobara and Yuuji with a stage whisper. βHe quoted Titanic.β
βI said, βYou jump, I jump,β and meant it from the depths of my soul,β Gojo defends, now fully spiraling into theatrical despair. βAnd I ended it with βEven death cannot stop true love.β Thatβs The Princess Bride, by the way. Which I also cried during.β
"I did too!" Yuuji agrees. "And then I was punched in the face..."
βYouβre dramatic,β you correct, eyes warm despite the dry tone.
βBut it worked, didnβt it?β he grins, leaning into you. βStill locked in for life, baby.β
Yuuji clutches his face. βThis is too much. My heart canβt take it.β
Nobara makes a strangled noise. βI need to lie down.β
Megumi exhales deeply, rubbing his temples like heβs already aged five years. βIβm begging you both to stop.β
But Yuujiβs nearly vibrating with excitement. βSo youβre likeβ¦ my teacher-in-law? Do I call you sensei, too? Or like... Gojo-senseiβs-sensei?β
βPlease donβt,β you say quickly, laughing. βJust my name is fine. And get used to seeing me - I'm going to be around more frequently."
Yuuji gasps. βWait, more frequently? Like, youβre gonna be here-here? Not just like, dropping off lunch but actually around?β
You nod, amused at his enthusiasm. βIβve been asked to consult more closely with Jujutsu Highβs faculty. Thereβs been increased interest in integrating psychological research into sorcerer support programs.β
βWhich means,β Gojo cuts in, waggling his brows behind his blindfold, βyou get the pleasure of my company every single day.β
βOh no,β Nobara groans. βThereβs going to be two of them now.β
βIβm not like him,β you promise, hand lifting in a mock oath. βIβm only insufferable on weekends.β
βThatβs a lie,β Gojo snickers, leaning close. βShe once made Nanami take a feelings quiz. You shouldβve seen the look on his face when it told him he was a βsensitive hedgehog with trust issues.ββ
βHe needed to hear it,β you say matter-of-factly. "Most accurate test ever made."
Megumi, whoβs been suspiciously quiet through all of this, finally speaks again. βYouβre really staying here for good?β
You nod, meeting his gaze with quiet warmth. βFor now. My homeβs here. Always has been.β
And Megumi, though he doesnβt say it, feels that truth land somewhere deep. Because this is where you raised him, quietly, without fanfare, next to a man who taught him power, while you taught him peace. Your presence means stability, means comfort, means late-night tea in the kitchen when the weight of legacy bears down too heavy. It means help with homework he doesn't fully grasp, movie nights on a random Thursday, and random notes tucked into his backpack wishing him good luck for the day.
He looks away before the emotion shows, muttering a soft, βOkay.β
Yuuji, meanwhile, is still vibrating. βWait! If youβre staying, does that mean you can help with training? Like, could you give me a mental strength seminar or something? I'm sure I have so much trauma I havenβt unpacked yet.β
βYouβve been possessed by the king of curses,β Nobara says flatly. βOf course you have trauma.β
βBut think about it!β Yuuji flails his arms. βWe could have like, therapy class! Emotional dodgeball or something!β
βDodgeball is very much physical,β Megumi sighs.
βItβs metaphorical if you cry afterward,β Yuuji defends.
Gojo barks a laugh. βYouβre going to love working with them. Theyβre so fun!β
βI think I already do,β you say softly, casting a glance over the students who, despite their wildness and noise, hold pieces of both your hearts.
Gojo slips an arm around your waist, his voice quiet but genuine now. βI'm glad youβre back.β
You lean into him. βMe too.β
Thereβs a pause. A warm, golden kind of stillness, broken only by Yuuji whispering to Nobara, βDo you think they have a pet? Like a cursed dog or something? What would its name be? Lovebug?β
Gojo hears, of course.
βActually,β he grins, βwe have a cat. Her nameβs Mochi. Sheβs a menace.β
βShe likes Megumi best,β you add.
βSheβs a traitor,β Gojo pouts. βI feed her and everything.β
βLove recognizes restraint,β Megumi deadpans.
"And what do you know about love, Megumi?" your husband raises a brow at the raven-haired boy in front of you.
βAlright,β Nobara interrupts, rubbing her temples. βEveryone shut up. Iβve had enough wholesomeness and plot twists for one morning.β
Yuuji bounces beside her. βBut isnβt it kinda awesome? Senseiβs married! Like, legally! He probably has paperwork and a joint bank account!β
βWhy is that the part that excites you?β Nobara hisses.
"It's so domestic!" Yuuji responds.
Gojo beams, flinging a dramatic arm toward the sky like heβs in a musical. βThatβs right, Itadori! Domestic bliss, baby! I do the grocery shopping, she yells at me for forgetting the soy sauce, and then we make up over dumplings.β
βYou forgot it three weeks in a row,β you mutter under your breath.
βTragedy builds character,β Gojo counters.
You sigh softly, pinching the bridge of your nose as Gojo continues rambling about how he once bravely fought off a βsoy sauce demonβ in aisle five. His voice crescendos with theatrical flair, hands painting invisible chaos in the air while the students blink at him, caught somewhere between horror and secondhand embarrassment.
β...and there I was, soy-sauce-less, surrounded by expired tofu, when-β
βThatβs enough, Satoru.β
Your voice cuts cleanly through the chaos. It's soft, but unmistakably firm, and it lands like a pin drop in the middle of a warzone. Immediately, Gojo freezes mid-rant, one arm still half-raised in a reenactment of his imaginary grocery duel. His mouth opens, then shuts. Then opens again like he might try to wriggle his way out with charm-
βNope,β you say before he can even begin. βDonβt try the puppy eyes. You know what you did.β
Gojo deflates with a whine, turning his head to pout in your direction like an overgrown toddler caught red-handed. βBut baby-β
You give him the look. βSatoru Gojo.β
He sags further at the use of his full name. Then, sheepishly, he says, β...Iβll go write soy sauce on the list.β
βThatβs what I thought.β
You say it with a small, satisfied smile and turn your attention back to the students as if nothing out of the ordinary just happened - like you didnβt just put the strongest sorcerer in the world in time-out using nothing but tone, context clues, and a glare.
The silence that follows is deafening.
Nobara blinks once. Twice.
And then slowly, so softly itβs barely audible, she mutters, β...Oh my god. I love her! Theyβre perfect for each other.β
Yuuji turns to her like sheβs just cracked a cosmic code. βRight! I told you!β
Megumi simply exhales, muttering something that sounds a lot like finally, before walking toward the training field.
Gojo lingers beside you, head bowed just enough to rest his chin lightly on your shoulder with a dramatic little sigh. βDo you still love me even though Iβm a soy-sauce-forsaking disappointment?β
You glance at him, then tilt your head so your cheek brushes against his. βMore than anything.β
βEven more than Mochi?β
You pretend to think. βWell. Mochi doesnβt forget condiments.β
Gojo gasps in betrayal. βEt tu, sweetheart?β
You just pat his cheek. βGo join the others before I make you run laps.β
βI knew this marriage came with fine print,β he mumbles as he trudges after his students.
You watch the ridiculous, brilliant, utterly impossible man you married go, and then you turn back to Nobara, whoβs still standing frozen, arms crossed and expression unreadable. Your eyes meet. Thereβs a beat of silence.
Then, wryly, you ask, βStill not convinced?β
Nobaraβs lips twitch upward. βNo. I am. He needs someone who keeps him in line.β
You grin. βAnd I enjoy doing it.β
With a final nod, she starts after the boys, shaking her head under her breath. βHonestly... you're iconic. I have a feeling we'll get along.β
"I think so too," you agree with a smile.
And just like that, the world resets itself. Students return to their training, chatter rises, curses await, but this time, thereβs a new undercurrent to the routine chaos. It's a quiet kind of awe, a shared glance between students, a barely concealed grin here and there. Theyβve seen behind the curtain now. The man theyβd thought was an untouchable, untamable force of nature had someone who could rein him in with a single look. Someone who didnβt just handle their sensei, but matched him - even loved him with an ease that defied expectation.
As the students scatter across the training grounds, wooden swords clashing and laughter echoing under the sky, you settle on a bench at the edge of the field, a journal in your lap, pen tapping idly at the margin. Not taking notes yet, just watching. Gojo glances back once from where heβs guiding Yuuji through a sloppy stance, flashing you a wink so quick you mightβve missed it if you hadnβt been waiting for it. You roll your eyes affectionately and return the gesture with a two-fingered salute. He beams like he did when you were teenagers, with the same goofy grin and sparkle in his eye.
Beside him, Yuuji watches the exchange with starry-eyed awe. βThat was so smooth,β he whispers to Megumi.
Megumi doesn't look up. βIt was not.β
Nobara sighs beside them, hands on her hips. Dreamily, she says, βI hope someone loves me enough one day to yell at me over soy sauce.β
Yuuji raises a finger. βUm... you yell at us over soy sauce.β
βThatβs different!β she huffs.
βIs it?β
Gojo laughs loud enough to interrupt the bickering, and you lean back, letting the sun kiss your skin, the page in your journal still blank but your heart full.
This is what home looks like: curse-worn and imperfect, loud and ridiculous, stubborn and strange.
You wouldnβt trade it for anything.

The inside of the Met hums with energy, the kind of buzz that comes from glittering people in glittering outfits, chatter mixing with the heavy beats from the DJ booth. You're sitting beside a mix of famous faces you've worked with before, but nobody you are particularly close to. You make mindless small-talk, but really, your thoughts are still spinning from the night. The Met Gala feels surreal, the red carpet a blur of flashing lights and hidden smiles.
And then, as if summoned by some unseen force, a sleek black drink with a dark, mysterious vibe slides across the table toward you. You raise an eyebrow, leaning forward. The bartender doesn't say much, just a quick, almost dismissive murmur.
"For the lady," he says. "Enjoy." No name. No explanation.
You eye the drink with suspicion, but it's pretty clear it's an espresso martini. It's dark and sleek, with a light, foamy layer on top and three coffee beans garnishing it. Itβs your favorite.
Your heart skips a beat before you pick it up. From Dove or Utahime, maybe? Someone else? It doesnβt matter. You take a sip, the bitter-sweet flavor cutting through the noise around you, the caffeine tingling at the edges of your senses.
You look up, searching around still to see if anyone is looking over at you, trying to guage their reaction to the drink. You skim through the fancy dresses, the black ties, the tuxedos, looking for whoever sent you this drink. And then your eyes meet another pair.
Satoru. Of course.
You donβt notice him until you feel his presence. Itβs like gravity, the way he seems to move through the room, pulling everything in his wake. His steps are casual, but the moment he nears, the air between you sharpens, almost crackling. He's approaching you quickly, and before you know it, he places a hand on the back of your chair, looking down at you with that signature, cocky grin of his.
"How's the drink?" he asks, voice smooth, almost too smooth.
You almost choke on your sip. "Uh, good," you manage, your mind racing. "Howβd you know I liked espresso martinis?"
He shrugs with that infuriating nonchalance of his. "Iβve got my ways." The smugness lingers in his tone, and you know itβs more than just a coincidence. Heβs involved in this somehow.
Maneater begins to play through the speakers, its steady bassline cutting through the chatter and clinking glasses, and suddenly, you feel the room shift. The beat pulses in your chest, familiar and infectious, and for a second, it feels like the world slows down.
βYou like this song, donβt you?β Satoruβs voice cuts through the music, smooth and teasing, pulling you out of your thoughts.
You laugh, the sound slipping past your lips before you can stop it. βItβs Maneater, Satoru. Who doesnβt like this song?β
He raises an eyebrow, leaning in just a little closer. "Fair point."
