Look what came in the mail today! I’m so excited for this year’s HBS Creatin’ Contest!
I was recently challenged by HBS to create a fairy garden. I know enough about fairies to know that they LOVE sweets. So I started off the challenge by creating a little snack bar for when they get tired from all that flying around.
I still have leftover plants though so that means MORE MINI FAIRY GARDENS.
The glass jars and glass canister were purchased from miniatures.com - the sweets were hand-sculpted by me!
This week I worked on the Creatin’ Contest 2016! Here’s a list of things I did:
- cut off front porch.
- made base (from old canvas and pegboard)
- made front steps
- started foundation
For more info go HERE. I’m also posting to my Facebook page, Instagram, and soon my YouTube.
Say hello to the Backyard Bungalow! Though it won't be that for long... As some of you might already know, Hobby Builders Supply (miniatures.com) hosts an annual contest called the Creatin' Contest.
Each year they create a new kit for us to decorate and bash and go crazy with! The Backyard Bungalow is the contest kit this year. It's small enough to be a manageable size, but large enough to still have plenty of options. Oh and guess what?! This year they sent me a kit in exchange to share my progress with you guys!
I’ll share more information soon!

P.S. I’m changing some things for the bazaar. Some of you may have noticed a name change, but that’s just the start! I realized that in order for me to stay excited about my little brand that it had to grow and evolve just as I do.

Changing the orientation of the building helped give my room some height, as well as give me the opportunity to do something fun with the curve of what *used* to be the roof. I added a large window to one side of the building and added one of the kit windows to the roof. I wanted lots of light in here!
The curve is now on the front of the build. I cut what used to be the roof in half and used one half as the lower back wall and the other half as the new roof. I installed windows over the whole front wall to keep the interior open and bright. The roof, back window, and lower back wall are detachable for easy access!
All of the brickwork is made from egg carton bricks. The hardwood floors and wood paneling on the walls is made from dollhouse wood strips. The back cement patio is made from mortar/grout (the kind you use for mosaics).
P.S- Somewhere along the way I lost the doorknob to the back door... Ugh.
YOU GUYSSSSSS. It’s finally over! I can finally share with you what I have been up to! This is my entry for the 2015 Creatin’ Contest! The Candy shop features many assorted handmade candies, as well as some indulgent sweets like macarons and cakes! Here are a few pictures to share my excitement for this project. I will be sharing more detailed images in the coming days/weeks.
Little life update- I recently finished another semester of school, GOT ENGAGED, then my fiancee graduated from college! Life. Has. Been. Crazy! There will be a video for my YouTube channel where I will talk a bit about this build. There may actually be a few videos because I now have a personal channel (DIY, lifestyle, vlogs) AND my good ole’ miniatures one! My A Bohemian Bazaar channel has long been neglected but I hope to bring it back to life in the coming new year.
YOU GUYS! I recently moved and this weekend I came across a box of my miniatures. There were miniatures from old ranges, as well as leftover things from craft shows. I don’t have time this week to photograph and list all of those things separately so I decided to make up some grab bags! These each contain about $20- $30 worth of miniatures (some are worth more), and have at least 8 items in each bag. These grab bags are on sale for $12 each!!! Plus shipping, which is $3- but if you buy more than one grab-bag I’m bundling the shipping cost! You can find these in my Etsy shop, etsy.com/shop/abohemianbazaar , and I am also doing two giveaways- one on my Instagram (@abohemianbazaar) and one on my other blog (http://abohemianbazaar.blogspot.com/).
There are items in these from pretty much all of the ranges I made over the last year or so. Miniatures include cakes, candies, bread, pumpkins, jack o’lanterns, and more! And there are even some wearable items like necklaces, pins, earrings, and charms! I’m doing this to make room for new work, and to also make some extra funds for more materials! Please take advantage of this sale, I only have a limited amount of these babies!
If you want to enter the give-aways, do it quick because they end tomorrow at noon!
There is still one more give-away open! Head over to my facebook page and comment on the designated post to get a chance to win a free grab-bag!

So, besides building my little heart out, I have been playing around with miniature animals! I am going to be applying to the Indie Craft Parade again this year and I would really like to have something new to bring to the show! As you can see, this little raccoon’s body measures about an inch and a half! He is sculpted from polymer clay and furred with a bamboo/silk blend fiber. SUPER SOFT.
HELLO FRIENDS! Have any of you heard of the HBS Creatin’ Contest? Well its basically a dollhouse contest where HBS (Hobby Builders Supply) releases a special kit each year, letting artists go crazy with it! The rules are simple. And the prizes are fantastic! $1,000 looks pretty tempting to me! There is a grand prize, as well as many runner up prizes. If you haven’t guess already- I’m entering! The pictures above are from the kit in dry fit ( I had to make sure I had all the parts and get a good look at the “before”). You won’t see much else of this build because I am keeping it secret until the submission deadline- which is December 16th, 2015. I am, however, going to start another build that I will happily share with all of you as I make it :)
Click here to go to the contest webpage.
Is anyone else going to enter this contest? The kit is listed for $39.99 on miniatures.com , AND if you join their mailing list you get a 15% off! (Which basically makes shipping free) This is a unique inexpensive kit, a fun contest, and you are in the best company! There are tons of people entering, and there are also many bloggers sharing their works in progress! COME HAVE FUN WITH US!
Hey guys! I'm having a little giveaway over on Instagram! All you have to do is follow me and like the image (all on Instagram) to be entered to win these four packets of candy! Everything is handmade by me! Contest ends this Sunday at midnight and winner announced on Monday!
