manga recs

yall I have been on a huge manga kick recently which seems to be the case every spring so here are some recommendations based on what I've been reading

• Gachiakuta - society that hates trash throws it all into a "pit" and would rather just get new things rather than trying to fix what's broken. mmc gets framed for murder and thrown into the pit, turns out pit is its own society and the trash is polluting it and causing monsters to manifest out of the trash.

• Gokurakugai - teenage boy and his mentor run a troubleshooting agency, and are trying to get rid of monsters called maga (monsters formed from the dead). The teenage boy is half-maga and uses his powers for good, helping others who would otherwise be hurt by the maga.

• Kagurabachi - son of a murdered swordsmith seeks revenge against those who murdered his father and stole his father's six enchanted blades. The son has a secret 7th enchanted blade that he uses to defeat them.

• Kemono Jihen - I don't even fully know how to explain the plot of this besides a detective recruits a kid with supernatural abilities to join in his occult detective agency to discover more like him and help him find his parents that left him. Those with supernatural abilities are called kemono.

• Tokyo Revengers - think Erased. A former gang member falls into train tracks and is sent back in time to his junior high days to prevent the present-day death of his former girlfriend. In doing so, he realizes her death is connected to others in more ways than one and he attempts to prevent as many as he can.

I have a few more I'm going to save for another post once I read a bit more but those are where I'm at currently. Pls read these.

oh lookie, I have returned!!

I have no idea how long it's been since I've been in this space, but I decided to return for random nonsense and shenanigans because why not! I do indeed still read and I've been reading random fanfic on here as well so I'm just vibing. I had a baby and she just turned a month old as of a couple days ago but I'm still reading! As of last year my reading has gotten more frequent. I've finished 5 books so far this year:

I'm attempting to write a Bad Omens fanfic on Wattpad but that's going so slowly given that I was pregnant and just had The Child and had 0 energy/motivation for literally anything lol. I am however playing more games, especially Life is Strange. Finished all of those last year and had a grand ol' time. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was my favorite of 2024, and currently am enjoying Creatures of Ava. I desperately need the next Final Fantasy VII part for my waifu Tifa pls and thank u.

Just finished my reread of Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor! I'm gonna start Days of Blood and Starlight and realized I had forgotten some things so it was due for a reread!
