may 6 - first kiss - @wolfstarmicrofic - 494 words
It started with a truth or drink game in the Gryffindor common room. Some of the upperclassmen had snuck firewhiskey into the castle and drinks were poured.
It was the Marauders’ fourth year at Hogwarts and the party had subsequently turned into their kind of event. An hour in there was a group of tipsy fourteen and fifteen year olds left in the public space. The seventh and sixth years had disappeared, mostly in pairs, or snuck out to other houses’ dormitories.
Marlene McKinnon had asked the question, “Lupin, who was your first kiss?” she grinned at him and winked.
Remus had looked at her and shook his head tiredly, he downed a shot. James had begun to laugh, teasing Remus, pestering him to know why he wouldn’t tell them. Sirius pondered from his spot on the sofa.
Later Sirius retired to their dorm, Remus following close behind. James stuck back to attempt, drunkenly, to ask out Evans again. Peter had opted to watch over him.
Sirius kicked off his socks and fell into the bed, awaiting a chide from Remus about sleeping in his outside clothes, but none came. He sat up and looked to the other boy.
“Why didn’t you answer the question, Moony?” he asked curiously.
Remus paused in his step and turned to Sirius. He raised an eyebrow at him and shook his head.
Sirius stood and walked over to Remus, curiosity peaked, “Who’d you kiss, Moons?” he teased, grinning. Remus turned away from him, unwilling to even respond. Sirius groaned and blew air at the back of Remus’s neck, pouting.
“Stop it,” Remus muttered, hand coming to rub at the back of his neck where goosebumps had formed.
“Come on! You don’t keep secrets from your fellow marauders,” Sirius insisted, voice taking on a bit of a whine, “Why won’t you tell me?”
At last Remus turned to face him, eyes downcast and hand raking through his hair. He sighed and spoke, with a bit of irritation in his tone, “Because I haven’t had it yet, Sirius,” he admitted, embarrassed.
Sirius fell silent, both at the admission and at the way Remus had called him Sirius instead of Padfoot.
Just a sound slipped out of his lips, a half formed word, “Oh…”
Remus scoffed softly under his breath, shaking his head and breathing inconsistently, “Yeah, oh.”
Sirius bit his lip, “Well, we could change that?” he offered, voice less confident than he’d meant it to sound.
Remus turned to him in astonishment. The two half wasted boys stared each other down, eyes weirdly squinty and Sirius blinking about twice as much as normal.
After a moment of silence, Remus shook his head back and forth and his mouth gaped slightly, “W-what?” he finally got out, voice full of pure bewilderment.
At last, Sirius smiled at him and ducked forward. He tilted his head up and pulled Remus’s head downward by his collar to press a kiss to his lips.
