Today my mom texted to lock up the dogs, as the lawn gnomes were coming soon. I thought she meant, like garden gnomes, a bit weird but my sister has been into gardening recently. But, no. Apparently she meant the lawn people, who mowed the lawn, not gnomes. My mom's text came late, after the lawn people had already left.
So when I came out of my room later for some water, and saw the dogs out and about I thought that the gnomes had arrived. Do I questioned my sister about if the gnomes had arrived, she was confused and said to look outside. I did and saw no gnomes; so I'm confused and said no. She said that the lawn was mowed.
So here I am wondering if this is some sort of racism, or classism, or inside joke I missed on, or a common term I missed?
