Game that initially appears to be one of those short form "guy stuck in a submarine" deals where you spend ten minutes learning how to operate cryptic control panels and then die, except when you reach the "ending" the submarine surfaces and surprise, fucker, you're playing Myst now.

Critically, it must be promoted as though the initial "guy stuck in a submarine" bit is the whole thing, without ever mentioning the other 90% of the game.

Genres of responses to this post:

People who've never heard of the genre of game I'm riffing on and think I'm vagueing, like, Subnautica or some shit

People who have heard of the "stuck in a submarine where you spend ten minutes learning how to operate cryptic control panels and then die" genre, but think Iron Lung is the only one. (It's not, though it did a lot to popularise the form; play Water Womb World, to cite one of my personal favourite pre-Iron Lung examples.)

People who've never played Myst and don't know that operating various valves and levers is like 50% of the franchise's gameplay, thus mechanically justifying the segue.

People who have played Myst but assume I've never played Myst and am thus unaware that it has a submarine maze, as though that's not the other half of the reason the segue works.
