She couldn’t help but chuckle as he admitted she was right, in his own way. But Irene didn’t say anything about it and simply nodded. In fact, the way he looked disheveled, still looked nice on him. At least in her opinion it did. Then again, she didn’t care what he was wearing. He was him. That was all that mattered. But there were things she did like to see him without…
Playing with Linus’ tiny fingers she hummed sweetly to him while Patrick got ready. She herself knew she needed to clean up, but the nurse had told her that she couldn’t get out of bed for another few hours just in case something were to happen. Plus what if her legs wouldn’t hold her now? It had taken a lot to get him out.
When Patrick spoke of his parents coming her eyes narrowed and she shot a glare in his direction. Growling slightly she shifted on the bed and laid Linus in his bed. The babe whined before curling into his blanket. “What do you mean your parents will be here within the hour?” She asked firmly, yet still showing her anger quite well. “We talked about this Patrick. I didn’t want them meeting him until we took him home. I didn’t even let MY parents come up here.” She pushed her blanket back and sat up more in the bed.
Patrick swallowed the lump in his throat as Irene showed just how angry she truly was. His eyes still located on the wall above her head as he spoke again. “They said they were going to come before I had time to tell them they couldn’t. What do you expect me to do? Tell them to not see him for another day?” He tried to make his case sound reasonable, but when his wife’s own family was waiting until the couple left the hospital it didn’t really stick.
“I’ll call your mother now,and tell her to come as well. They can meet them together, look.” He tried again as he reached for his pocket and went about dialing his mother-in-law’s number. He locked eyes with Irene then. “I didn’t mean to make you upset, they wouldn’t take no for an answer, you know that better then anyone. I’ll make it up to you afterwards,I promise.” His words were cut off as soon as Irene’s mother answered, and with quick procession he invited the other half of his family as well. But the answer wasn’t exactly what he was hoping for. Sighing softly for a moment,Patrick turned his gaze back to his wife. “Your mom said she’d be here first thing in the morning.” And with that he slipped his phone back into his pocket and waited for any other bit of anger to leave his wife as well.
