That's what it's all about
"Hokey Pokey" is derived from the Latin "Hoc est Corpus." These words come from the Catholic Mass and the miracle of transubstantiation. Literally they mean "Thus is My Body." Therefore, putting in your left arm, your right arm, etc. culminating with putting your "Whole Self In," relates to how Christ kept nothing back from his followers and how it is Christlike to sacrifice oneself*. Literally - it's what it's all about.
*āA true sacrifice is every work which is done that we may cleave to God in holy fellowship⦠Therefore the whole redeemed city, that is, the congregation and fellowship of the saints, is offered to God as a universal sacrifice⦠This also the Apostle teaches, saying, āPresent your bodies a living sacrifice.āā ā Augustine, City of God, Book X, ch. 6ā7
