One thing I really hope changes about the Live Action is Zoro's characterisation. Dont get me wrong, OPLA!Zoro is great, but he's WAY too Cool Guy at the moment.

One of the best things about Zoro is how from a distance he SEEMS like a typical anime Cool Guy but then as you go forward you realize that, no, he's an insane weirdo who shares a braincell with Luffy, specifically. And they lost said braincell somewhere in Shells Town.

He will SOMETIMES borrow Nami's, but she charges too much for him to be able to afford it often...

it actually pisses me off when western anime fans just ignore Japanese creators' own visions of characters that don't fit into the gender binary or express gender identity different from what one might expect from their design like you never see that shit happen with western queer characters but when it's a Japanese creator suddenly it's okay to just aggressively argue that characters can't be trans because Japan (as if trans and queer people don't exist there in a variety of identities and expressions) it's honestly coming off as lowkey racist to try and simplify the diverse characters created by Japanese authors so that you can either ignore the diversity or squeeze the characters into neat little boxes that westerners feel comfortable with or dare suggest Japanese creators are incapable of making characters that aren't supposed to be cis or straight on purpose

Japanese creator: *makes characters with no gendered terms and ambiguous gender identity on purpose that works within their language and culture and narrative*

western anime chuds: actually this character the the gender I want them to be based on whether they have boobs or not

ANOTHER one of my fave luffy n zoro tropes is when zoro is hesitant to do something and luffy is like “but…..” / just gives him a look (puppy eyes) and suddenly it’s “actually now that I’m thinking about it”. u look up the definition of whipped and there’s a picture of zoro underneath it
