When Hopper first told them Will was missing and Lucas and Dustin were bickering but this was Tammy
oh so he "understands her better than anyone" but even in his deepest imagination he still envisions her in the colours that reflect the costume she had to dress up in to conform to society when he first met her
Wait, so apparently Winona and David aren't in the documentary, and the Duffers said it's because they didn't have time. But there's interview footage of Winona in the Behind the Episode videos on YouTube, so they clearly did interview her. Why wouldn't they include that in the documentary?
boy the sky is falling
I need conformitygate to be real PURELY because I need this scene to mean something
literally
And there's even a spot where they literally cut around it.

Mike reaching out for Will's arm but never touching him, and then in the next shot his hand is on Will's arm.
Like- don't think I don't notice some bullshit when I see it. You will never be able to convince me there wasn't some tomfuckery going on behind the scenes.
tower scene didnt feel like a rejection when i first watched it because i felt the spirit of van scene mike wheeler in that room
“friends? no thanks, best friends” is maybe the most evil line ever written i actually felt gutted 😭
With this context, and the way Broadway works, the writing conversation would have had to taken place in late 2022, or early 2023; season 4 was out and released. This means that as of the earliest 2022 they knew exactly what would be in the finale.
Now flash forward, April 2025 the documentary releases. It's not clear on timeline but know the first play opened late 2023, it was precise timing that they released the documentary when they did. They knew that bleeping out the finale stuff was pointless.
You're telling me 80% of what they wanted in the play was setup for spin off show?
Because if it's the Henry creel cave sequence... That's not 80% of anything. It's done in 5 minutes. And this is one of the lead writers of Stranger things since the beginning.
I want to interject with more context for this ploy:
Everything from Season 3 forward was produced by The Duffers own Upside Down Productions. Which means they definitely can control the edit, the release, the everything surrounding the lead up to the end. I fear this is important info.
Take us back to the documentary: the filming of season 5 concluded in December 2024. Which means immediately after finishing filming, they left for Christmas (if they even did that) and then came back, help produce the Play documentary and then spearhead the post-production of Season 5. At the very least, the early cuts were there but the bleeping seems an easy one to cut, given they weren't resolving anything that the play even mentioned anyway.
Unless it had to do with Brenner and a Tesseract; Matthew Modine posting on Instagram with seemingly a dated set from when 11 was a child, going into her room.
If what early reviews guessed from the first few showings of the play, Brenner was the impressionable sore thumb left out in the show.
Anyway, I'm rambling now but someone let me know if any of this tracks with you?!! 😭😭😭

CRACK theory
You know how the season uses VERY little music in season 5 compared to before, but then uses like 8 songs back to back in the last hour. They're testing songs to wake Mike up. No I didn't count.

honestly when aliens arrive we should start having sex with them as soon as possible. so when they decide to take over a lot of them already have emotional connections/physical offspring and will form a sizeable resistance. not me, i don’t want to, but i know a lot of you would be into that, and i’m telling you it’s okay, you’re actually the last hope for our species.
