Day 6 - Favourite Pairing: Jane Villanueva & Rafael Solano
When you’ve watched enough telenovelas, you know your tropes … you know which pretty middle class/poor girl in gonna end up with which pretty rich boy (or vice versa), that they will have a million obstacles, that many people won ’t want them together, that at some point it’ll seem that they belong with other people … but that they will always have their happy ending.
Despite all the weirdness and poor writing in season 5, the greatest thing about Jafael (and JTV in general), the reason why I loved the show since Chapter One, is that they obviously fit into those roles as telenovela star crossed lovers but they, as individuals, are free from all the negative aspects of telenovelas (machismo, submissive ignorant women, women hating on women just because they’re women, double moral standars, etc, etc.)
With Jafael I feel like we got it all, and more:
Two meet “cutes”:
Three! first kisses:
The greatest fantasy dance:
The hottest first time ever:
Two first “I love you”:
But also, they are the cutest bbfs:
Who were this hot for each other and loving when they weren’t even together:
Who are forever bonded by their baby boy:
Who, technically, vowed to each other long before getting married:
And who, finally, got the most loving, intimate, heartfelt wedding ever:
The passion which with they fought to reconcile their differences, the undeniable chemistry and the way they always gravitated to each other, made it perfectly clear that they belong together, as co-parents, best friends, lovers and partners.
Jane the Virgin is their story, told by their son, about the family she extended to him… this could not have ended in any other way.
