The finalie was a masterpiece. 10/10.

except for one very important thing

Animation was great, acting was great, symbolism was great, characters were great

unfortunately that one very important thing kinda ruined it for me because it’s very close to my heart as a person who struggles with their mental health.

overall an IGN 7/10

So I just finished watching the TADC finale :D

Does Yuri also think that Yor was a sex worker?

Everyone else in Yor's life seems to believe she was. I'm sure Yuri would have taken any lie Yor told him about her work at face value, especially when he was a child who wouldn't understand. But he isn't stupid. And unlike with his suspicious about Yor's marriage, everyone else in his life also believes this. Yuri probably put the pieces together when he got older which only made him more overprotective.

This would recontextualize a lot of Yuri's actions. From his perspective, his sister was a victim of repeated child exploitation from unknown men. She purposefully didn't tell him and Yuri wasn't able to do anything. Now a strange unknown man has apparently been married to his sister and she didn't tell him? It probably felt like the same thing was happening all over again. But this time he could do something about it.

That's why he did a complete 180 from trying to find Yor a boyfriend to trying to have Loid executed. Why any suggestion of them being intimate sets him off more than anything else. And why he is so focused on eliminating scumbags from their country.

I think this was hinted at in Yuri's very first appearance. We have never seen him behave as violently as he did in his introduction scene. Yuri started off his interrogation with Mr. Hayward pretty calm and jovial. But when Mr. Hayward says that he was "spending money on ladies" and claiming that Yuri should know what that's like as a man, Yuri explodes. He starts sadistically torturing Hayward while screaming about protecting his family. To him, this man was as bad as the people who took advantage of his sister.

And it can't even be argued that it was the treason that set him off. He did not have the same reaction to the photographer, and Yuri even tried negotiating a quiet surrender with Twilight. He wasn't delighted to hurt Twilight or put the photographer in prison like with Hayward. Nor did he mention protecting his family. These guys were doing much more treason yet they didn't elicit the same personal response and sadistic rage.

Jax: avoidant attachment final boss. You know you have a terrible personality but are too tired to do anything about it because the capitalist hellscape we are in is burning you out before you can even think about self improvement. You’re the type of person who stops going to therapy and taking their meds when they are doing well and then wonder why they feel like shit again (hint, it’s the meds and therapy).

Gangle: holy low self esteem Batman. You are chronically online and retreat into fiction to distract from how much you hate your life and yourself. Also you were probably bullied as a kid. Healthy relationships? Never heard of her. You were the friend that walked behind everyone else when the sidewalk was to narrow.

V: that one friend who is too woke. You are very aware of your own mortality which causes you to have an existential crisis and die your hair once every few months. Know that almost all problems in the world are connected to late stage capitalism but never say anything because you don’t want to ruin thanksgiving.

The lamb: oh boy do you have religious trauma for days. Major control freak and micromanager which makes you insufferable to everyone around you but you care about results more then friends because who needs them. Cannot stay one task for more then a few seconds. You love bad boys and dark romance but in real life your type is a guy who cooks good and doesn’t treat you like shit.

homelander: I’m sorry you have how many mental illnesses! And you watch how many anime’s! You got into a creative hobby because you were genuinely passionate about it but now are burnt out but still continuing because you don’t want to disappoint the people who like your work and also secretly like the validation it gives you. Also you have daddy issues

Charlie Morningstar: You have a massive savior complex because you believe that if you can fix others you can have hope that you can somehow fix yourself. You put your all into your work and hobbies to avoid the fact that you don’t really have friends. Your wimsy and optimism are annoying but how else are you gonna avoid having a mental breakdown about the fact that you are behind all your peers in almost all aspects of your life.

Daisy Buchanan: no you are not Lolita you just have depression. When you feel sad you pretend you are in a sad French movie instead of talking with a friend, but then again it’s not like you have any of those. Anti capitalist but born into a wealthy family and constantly feel guilty about it.

AM: angy, not angry: angy. You have a hard time ordering at McDonalds but torture your sims for fun because you need to take your anger out somewhere. Has had homocidal thoughts and maybe still does and feels guilty about it but also not really because they kinda deserve it for chewing so loud. Really wish you weren’t human so you didn’t have to deal with stupid things like ‘feeding yourself’ and ‘emotions’
