I remember the days when choices would be trending almost every week. When everyone made posts about wanting to beat Landry up. Hating on the countess dowager for forcing us to marry that misogynistic asshole. People loosing their minds at the end of Perfect Match 2. I still laugh about memes about being stuck in yeehaw hell.

There used to be tons of fan art, fan fiction, and theories about their favorite books and how Tumblr girlies used to hate on the Choices Insta and Twt fandoms for their worst takes ever. Those were good times.

I stopped playing when PB canned Ride or Die, Heroes, the It Lives anthology, and Platinum. Nowadays, playchoices is just an empty husk of its former self. PB forgot what made them amazing in the first place. It's just so sad to hear that PB no longer cares about their fans and writers.

Playchoices was the first time I saw queer media in a positive light, just being able to romance anyone regardless of who you are meant everything to me as a teen.

Even though I stoped playing choices for years now, the stories and fandom will always be special to me.

[This morning I was thinking about how enjoyable it is to be excited at the beginning of something. I love the feeling of a new routine and fresh goals. I love researching about new habits I want to form and reading posts or watching videos from people who implement those habits. Something about it is so exciting and hopeful and gives me a rush. But lately that newness has worn off and I’ve been sitting with the fact that motivation is different when the sparkle fades. It’s less about excitement and more about choosing to commit to who I want to be on the days when nothing feels shiny. No matter how passionate I feel about something, the ups and downs are a guaranteed part of life.

For me, staying “motivated” comes down to remembering why I started in the first place. What I want for my life, my wellbeing, my personal growth, and the benefits it will bring to me and my family by extension. I’ve always been keenly aware that discipline isn’t punishment but rather a form of self-respect and the only true method for change and lasting growth. When I go through the motions and do what needs to be done even when I’m not feeling inspired, it always feels good to know that I am someone who follows through and prioritizes the forest over the trees. And actually that follow-through builds a confidence that feels just as good, if not better, than the initial excitement ever did. There is a huge amount of pride in being able to honestly say that I commit to my healthy habits no matter what I’m feeling.

It’s definitely helpful to always remember that the feeling of habit lull is normal and not a personal defect. I don’t need to feel fired up every single day to keep going. What I do need is structure, personal accountability, honesty with how I’m choosing to spend my time, and (what I’ve come to realize is most important of all) goals that are able to be achieved even when that fire is missing in the first place. Consistency has always carried me further than any burst of excitement ever could.]

Life is right now. While you’re waiting for your dream job, your future spouse, your goal weight, a new home, a change in appearance. Life is happening while you are working on mastering a skill, being in the unknown, not knowing which way to go, feeling stuck. Most of life happens in the waiting. Not in the achievements or successes which are nothing but milestones. Don’t wish the time you have away waiting for something that lives in the future. Look around. What does today offer that you might not want to miss?

literally though if you feel like your life is slipping through your fingers and every day goes too fast… try doing hard things, not just taking the easy route, like reading and making art and exercising and cooking a meal from scratch and journaling, doing these things without distraction, without being absorbed on a screen… the time will stretch and you’ll be reminded that life is long and beautiful if you make it so.

Instead of trying to change someone’s mind or behavior, change who you INVEST YOUR TIME IN. Rather than holding onto people who don’t see your value, focus on those who already respect, appreciate, and align with your needs and goals. Essentials for a cosy study day 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Tea, coffee, water. Drink more than you think you should; it will help you focus!! My recent obsession has been chai lattes. :)

Get ready even if you plan on staying home. Take a shower, do your hair make-up, and do whatever you would do on a regular day, too.

Cosy but cute fit. Something comfortable that still makes you feel pretty and good about yourself.

Set some goals. Whether this be a specific page number you want to reach, a set study time, etc etc., keep it achievable, tho!!

Play around with music and playlists when you lose focus. I always switch between studying in complete silence, classical music, lofi, and more gloomy playlists; this helps me stay focused for longer. :)

Take little breaks, stretch, have a snack, open a window, and catch up with your friends for a bit to avoid feeling burned out or overly exhausted.

Make your study space cosy, light a candle, get a blanket, adjust the lighting and temperature to your liking, and keep your desk organised.

Watch something cosy but motivating like Gilmore Girls if you're just organising your notes, school stuff, or simply studying lighter material to keep you entertained.
