For years after 9/11 we were constantly told “NEVER FORGET” and the idea was basically “keep feeling sad and afraid and especially ANGRY forever; don’t let time dull your emotional response like it’s naturally supposed to; continue to justify the injustices by feeling this way all the time.” And the 3000 deaths were constantly pointed to as this huge deal that justified any lengths to go to.
And then Covid hit. And there were several points during the height of the pandemic (because fun fact, according to the actual definitions of a pandemic, *it’s not technically over yet!* ) where we were having a 9/11’s worth of deaths every week or so. And suddenly 3000 deaths were not a big deal at all. Instead of being enough reason to go to war far away and strip us at home of many rights too, they weren’t even enough justification to make people wear a damn piece of fabric over their face.
3000 people died once and now the government can legally wiretap anyone without a warrant, and hold people at Gitmo under suspicion of terrorism (no need for due process)… 3000 people dying every week but we should all still be going out to brunch and concerts and who cares about the disabled and immunocompromised?
Something in me broke. Make all the 9/11 jokes you want.
Another one of the Robots I Find Unreasonably Adorable is Mecha MK.III
He's just sych a cutie to me. He's so bug. so so very bug and cute and adorable. I wish something was actually done with him. he never got to leave his lil tube. but he does look so kawaii in there. I love him sm he was one of the first guys posted in our new ur fav is transmasc blog to show some love and also share this silly headcanon with the world.
He's on my Tomodachi life island and is currently getting a full proper gijinka from us.. He's kinda stupid ugh. so silly. I just wanna pet him and rub my hands on his cheeks and teach him to play games and bully kids on Roblox. He's my son kinda like the Silver Sonic's are my children.
Never doubt our Robot autism if it exists we probably love it to a unreasonable incomprehensible degree.
Also we all know how we are with MK.II but about MK.I we're alot more normal about it but we love it too. Actually Pretty Good Design. Not cute like the others but indeed in it's own special way. very yummy to look at.
personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist
There's always a moment of intense cultural whiplash whenever I realize I'm talking to someone who thinks "legal" and "illegal" are meaningful categories and ascribes innate goodness to following the law. It's like meeting a space alien.
Again, We wanted to request a pack for Johnny Truant from House of Leaves, as we have a fragment that has latched onto this identity but has been struggling to fully form, causing some issues. Any Tier is fine, we only ask for it to be masc leaning.
Also, we've read the book and since you've mentioned not having a full grasp on it, feel free to contact us, we'll try our best to help with anything !
CW: Body horror-adjacent stuff in faceclaim, general disturbing imagery in faceclaim.
Thank you for requesting, sorry about the wait. I'm going to read House of Leaves now, that was extremely cool.
Disclaimer that headmates may not form exactly as described, and this variation should be allowed as part of healthy plurality.
knew this woman who used to be a gay man and when he was a gay man he liked ‘ironically’ referring to himself as she/her and so when he came out as a woman he decided the next logical step was to also switch his pronouns to he/him.
theo van gogh was the one who suggested that his older brother vincent start seriously painting. as soon as theo was gainfully employed he gave vincent around 15% of his own yearly salary for art supplies, lodging, and food. about 2/3rds of vincent's surviving letters were to theo (including vincent's earliest and last letters), all of which were found stored in theo's desk. theo's child, vincent willem, was born on january 31st, 1890, and vincent was so delighted by his nephew that he painted almond blossoms for him. vincent shot himself half a year later on july 29th, 1890. theo's distress at his brother's death worsened his syphilis symptoms and he died half a year after his brother on january 25th, 1891 (four days before vincent willem's first birthday). theo was reburied next to vincent in auvers-sur-oise at the request of theo's wife johanna.
And that love lived on Theo's wife, Johanna, who was the one who pushed for the preservation of Vincent's paintings. Johanna who made sure that her husband's beloved brother would not be forgotten. Johanna who fought tooth and nail so that Theo and Vincent would never be forgotten. Johanna who carried the family legacy, who made sure that the works of Vincent would be kept in her possession. And then Vincent Willem, named for a uncle so loved, carried this legacy and founded the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.
The van Gogh family history is deeply interwoven with love. It was the love of a brother that gave a young man the courage to paint and the resources to do so. It was the love of a woman for her husband and her husband's beloved brother that made that story known. And it was the love of a nephew, who was so deeply loved even if for such a short time, that made it possible for the world to know Vincent van Gogh.
So she actually said that she does not see the appeal in Senshi at all and that the panty shots weren't intended to be horny - she just has a neighbor who looks kind of like him and does laundry in his underwear. Which she finds kind of weird and offputting, and put into his character to be funny.
But that's the thing. She doesn't exaggerate or grotesqueify or alter people's bodies to fit some standard. (Except insofar as she draws different species differently, and those are exquisitely practiced to ensure they have the same diversity of appearances that humans do.) She just presents people exactly as they are, complexities and oddities and all.
It just so happens that when you present people exactly as they are, what you present will be beautiful and alluring to many. Even the things you yourself might find weird and offputting. Honestly I think it's a touching example of how you don't have to see the beauty in everyone for the beauty to be there, simple honesty is enough to let the wonder of people's humanity shine through.
#i think we should put this post next to the interview where she said she doesn't want to eat the food in the series cuz she's a picky eater#and file them both under 'you don't know an artist from their work'#and maybe you don't need to!#maybe all you need to know is that ryoko kui is Good At What She Does#idk I don't like the implication that artists (and women especially?) can only create from personal life and feelings#some people have imagination and craft#kind of a tangent but. there you go.
This pride month I am carefully holding Shard like burger. Because he's my silly emotional support transmasc robot. He is SO cute. Genuinely. So adorable. Deserves everything good in the world.
I'm not kidding he's genuinely adorable to me. The cutest in the whole world!
I think if we're gonna make "redemption" AUs for Metal we need to focus on the existential terror of being created with a specific purpose and knowing nothing else and suddenly being free and expected to choose things in a sea of endless possibilities.
It's terrifying and I want more of it. Sometimes freedom isn't the best thing. It can be distressing. Usually, it is, and it would especially suck in her case.
- the metadow guys (half projecting again but also this is just interesting alright)
I don't want Neo Metal in Sonic 4. I keep seeing people day this but I don't. It needs to he given TIME. You're asking for TOO MUCH.
Neo is cool, yea, I love her, we all know thus, but it's because I love her that I don't want her here. This movie will introduce Metal and we need to let it be about that, let her have her time. Otherwise it'd probably be extremely rushed because of everything that they'd have to shove in. If Neo is to come to the movies I need it to be in a later movie so it really hits.
At least to me Neo only hits the way she does because we already knew Metal before and saw her in her normal form and being nothing but Eggman's enforcer. So seeing her snap and try to take over everything herself hits a lot harder. For Neo to be done right we need just Metal first. We need Metal to be seen as just Eggman's (or whatever they'll go for) weapon first. Because only than will her attempt at being something else, do something for herself, will be satisfying to see.
For Neo to truly shine we need to give Metal time.
