The Polavoid

#polavoid Instant photography is the artist's photography. Expired film carries ghosts from the past that are visible around the edges, sometimes more than the subject themselves. Fresh batches of instant photography have mistakes built into them, because we are messy humans that make mistakes, we are artists who can never and don't want to get our brush strokes JUST RIGHT. The light that leaks through, our spirits that demand to be seen, our flaws are what make us less than plastic perfect and more malleable clay artists with something to say. The question has been asked; " is photography art?" Not always. But almost all instant photos are like paintings, their voices heard through the cracks in emulsion magic. There is a movement happening, and artists whose primary medium is instant photography are making the world a more beautiful place to live in while the rest of the world sleeps. Does this sound like you? Be part of The Polavoid. Have you always wanted to be an artist, but can't take a photo or paint a picture that isn't painful to look at? That's ok! Brian Henry of @birdclaws has a collection of photography that I could swear is haunted. To say art is haunted means not only that it has spirit, but that… the other-worldly nature makes you feel like you are witnessing a secret world that you are privileged to see.
