Hey. Don't support The Crowded Room. I don't care if Tom Holland is involved or not, Dissociative Identity Disorder (otherwise known as Multiple Personality Disorder, although that's an old diagnosis that doesn't even exist anymore) is a highly stigmitised mental disorder that is heavily linked to trauma, and media villianising the disorder is extremely harmful for systems everywhere. Don't give it your attention, don't give it your money. We do not need another Split.

Since Netflix released Monsters Inside: The 24 Faces of Billy Milligan recently, I would like to remind everyone that D.I.D. affects 1-3% of the population (about as common as redheads!) and is caused by severe reoccurring childhood trauma before the ages of 7-9. People with D.I.D. are not any more violent than the average person, and in fact are more likely to be the victims of a violent crime.

Alters are not "monsters", in fact, they are there to help get the body through the day and protect it. Switches are not horrific, terrifying things, in fact, they are barely noticeable, as usually (but not always!), cases of D.I.D. are covert. We really need to stop making media that perpetuates the stigma that people with this disorder are violent criminals when really they are people who were severely traumatized in childhood and are just trying to live their lives like everyone else.
