To Whom It May Concern

     You may or may not have noticed that I haven't posted anything real in a while. Truth is, I have a job. Who would employ a 22-year-old with a Harry Potter blog? A very brave idiot.      Having a job that pays me actual money for doing things is fantastic, but exhausting. Why should you care about this? Because a tired blogger is not a productive blogger. My beloved books and magical obsessions have taken a backseat to slightly more boring things, and instead of putting out lots of sub-par material I've decided to put out... well... nothing.      One of these days I'll finally sort my life out. Until then, bear with me. I'm gloom camping again. As soon as I figure out where the next horcrux is the story will get moving again... but that may take a few chapters.

The Great Rereading

     Rereading a favorite book is like having a long drink at a quiet bar with a friend you haven't seen in several months. While most of the conversation that lasts several fast hours seems to be made up entirely of the old stories you've told hundreds of times, yet never tire of, there are inevitably going to be several new stories to add to the pile. Time changes things.      When I started on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for the second time I found myself wearing that same goofy grin I sported when I started reading it the first time. The first book will probably always be one of my favorites just because it is such a pleasure to read. It's charming and whimsical, and everything seems new again. That said, I am certainly noticing some super clever, and possibly imagined, foreshadowing and symbolism I cannot wait to share with you.      As you may have noticed from my lack of posts, I've once again found myself to be otherwise engaged for the better part of the last few weeks and unable to produce the "quality" content I know you have come to expect. However, things should be slowing down from a sprint to an awkward fast-walk, meaning I should be able to get back onto the semi-regular express. Wish me luck.

The Wizards Won!

     Time to raise a delicious cup of melted frog! If you keep tabs on what the Harry Potter Alliance is up to, you would know that they have just succeed in making those chocolate frogs everyone knows and loves a little bit sweeter.      Recently the organization has triumphed in their "Not in Harry's Name" campaign, and Warner Bros., the studio behind the franchise (for those who dwell beneath rocks), has pledged that all the chocolatey products that bear the young wizard's name will have to meet certain labor standards. In their letter to the alliance the company said:

"By the end of 2015, or sooner when possible, all Harry Potter chocolate products sold at Warner Bros. outlets and through our licensed partners will  be 100-percent Utz or Fairtrade certified. We are working closely with our suppliers and partners to achieve this."

     This means that the farmers who grow the coco that gets turned into tasty, tasty frogs will be treated, as the Fairtrade name suggests, fairly. The HPA began the "Not in Harry's Name" campaign back in 2010 and worked with the organization Walk-Free, an anti-slavery organization, and Harry's creator, J.K. Rowling, to meet its goal.      The Harry Potter Alliance have once again shown the world that they are a force to be reckoned with and can add this particularly *sweet* (I'm the worst) victory to their laundry list of accomplishments. Stories really do have the power to spark change, but it takes an army of awesome witches, wizards, and muggles to put it into fruition. Good job, guys!
