An update on my V.R. goggles theory from Young Justice Season 3.
Now I am more sure than ever that these goggles are going to be used for some sort of mass mind control due to the fact that we know Granny Goodness is behind them.
For my evidence to support this theory we need to go back a decade ago when DC Comics was in the middle of the event “Final Crisis”. One of the more noteworthy aspects of that event was that there was a “Dark Side Club” that brainwashed teenage superheroes into fighting each other for the love and affection of Granny Goodness.
Granny and later the second Clock King would use drugs, mantras, and other methods to brainwash these teen heroes. I remember loving the series at the time for not just the Mind Control but also because we were seeing a lot of characters that I had never really read much of before (Like Aquagirl II)
There were some really great brainwashing scenes and mantras like “Freedom is slavery” and “granny loves me”
Along with the more mindless mind control there was a lot of mind control that compelled the heroes to “love” Granny and do things they would not normally do for her. Like Misfit (above) who was always a happy go lucky characters became a brutal combatant for Granny.
“Granny loves me” the mantra was used to deepen the brainwashing.
Eventually Miss Martian goes undercover to the Dark Side Club and saves everyone.
I’m going to guess that it’s going to go a little different in Young Justice. I think we are going to eventually find out that the mind control tech that we saw from Mad Hatter in this weeks episodes is also being used in the V.R. goggles with the end result being an army of obedient meta human teenagers for Granny Goodness and the light.
