“Do you see anyone else here?” She gestured to the surrounding clearing that was empty except for them and a boar with a collar around its neck.
“Ganju and his gang are the only ones with pets around here, and they all know better than to go over their limit of two per person.”
She turned to look at the so-called “dog,” which seemed to be content sitting next to the blond. “So if it’s not yours, what did you do to make it follow you around?”
“ Eh, aren’t I askin’ ‘coz I don’t have a dog? ” She was talking about a dog earlier…but apparently he is a owner of a swine, now? He is staring in astonishment at the young boar at his feet, who is also staring back at him. Then Shinji lifts his head and stares at the Shiba, instead. His gaze is very beady.
“ I’ve got no idea where this tonkatsu bowl came from; he wasn’t with me when I left Seireitei, how sure are ya that it isn’t another of yer baby bro’s pet? ” Much to his chagrin, when Shinji sidled a few steps away from the pig, the kurobuta stood up as well and ‘buhi, buhi-ed’ his way back to Shinji’s side again, before planting his fuzzy rear end right by his feet. The blond is nonplussed.
“ Wait; so what am I s’posed ‘ta do now with this fella? ”
Kūkaku met his beady stare right back, a touch annoyed, “I already told you he and his gang know better. Not to mention if one of their boars had run off, we'd be able to hear their cries of panic from here.”
She turned to look at the baby boar consideringly for a moment contemplating Shinji’s question before turning back to him with a smirk, “You can make him the new mascot of the fifth! Use him to teach new squad members responsibility.”
“You could turn Aizen’s old room into his pen.”

@thepyrotechnicshiba asked:
“Is this your dog?”
“ Me? ” He pointed to himself, to verify that she was talking to him. “ No, ma’am. Isn’t that your dog? ”
Which is ironic, because the animal in question was a boar.
"Do you see anyone else here?" She gestured to the surrounding clearing that was empty except for them and a boar with a collar around its neck.
"Ganju and his gang are the only ones with pets around here, and they all know better than to go over their limit of two per person."

Kūkaku made her way to the entrance hall upon receiving notice of her guest, via Koganehiko or Shiroganehiko activating the seal on the door, and by the time the Koganehiko and their guest reached the bottom of the stairs, she was seated, appearing as though she could have been seated there for hours beforehand. She sensed that the man Koganehiko was leading down the stairs was lieutenant class. Interesting. Though relations between her and Soul Society had improved, Soul Reapers were not a common visitor.
Koganehiko’s voice boomed out through the door, “Shuuhei Hisagi is here to commission fireworks!”
She grinned as she replied, “Well, let him in then!” This would mark the first firework request she’d had in a long time.
“At once, Kūkaku-dono!”
Koganehiko opened the door to reveal a spiky-haired lieutenant that she had a vague recollection of seeing in the aftermath of Aizen’s departure. She looked him dead in the eye as he entered, a light smirk touching her face as she asked, “So, what do you want fireworks for?”

Byakuya stares at Kūkaku’s entrance longer than he should. Until he goes directly to her residence. Opening the door violently.
“I come here solely to ask permission to let me change your statues just one more time.” His sense of aesthetics was getting louder this time.
Kūkaku had been growing increasingly annoyed with the Kuchiki’s requests. At first, she had planned to smack him upside the head the next time he appeared, but before that happened, a more amusing idea occurred to her.
Hearing Byakuya’s arrival, she moved up the stairs to meet him with a wicked gleam in her eye. “I’d been wondering why you kept asking to change the statues at my house, but I think I’ve figured it out.” She paused for dramatic effect staring directly into Byakuya’s eyes.
“You saw my statues and thought they’d make a great gift for your sister, didn’t you! Unfortunately for you, I’ve seen through your scheme, and if you ever ask to change my statues again, I’ll send her two duplicates! So you’d better come up with a new gift idea.”

“Oh, Kūkaku!~”
“I’ve come to return your—“
Kūkaku was having a drink on her launchpad when she heard Kisuke’s greeting. She flash stepped over in time to see him trail off as he gazed at her new statues.
“What’s the matter Kisuke? Cat got your tongue?”
Kūkaku was well aware that most people found her design choices eccentric. However, that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to make him sweat through his next few replies.
Kūkaku has swapped her entrance statues again.

Whenever Kūkaku moved, she always set up a warning Kidō on the property boundary. When the boundary was crossed, the Kidō would alert her, Ganju, Koganehiko, and Shiroganehiko to the visitors. After it rang, Koganehiko and Shiroganehiko would go to the entrance to do their shtick once the visitors approached. If they decided to take the guest to meet with her, another alert would be sent her way when they opened the door.
Though this time, she recognized one of the guests’ spiritual pressure after the first warning, so she moved to her greeting chamber before she received the second alert. A few minutes after she sat down, Koganehiko and Shiroganehiko let Tessai and his two kids in.
She let out a snort after Ururu got her brother to bow before returning her attention to the man kneeling before her.
“Always so formal, Tessai.” Then in a swift motion, she got to her feet and pulled Tessai up into a one-armed hug. “No apologies necessary.” After all, it’s not like I couldn’t have paid them a visit.
She lingered in the hug for a few moments before she pulled back to look at the two young adults behind him.
“So—" She smirked. “you two ready for the grand tour of the Shiba household.”
“—“ The big man’s eyes widened behind his spectacles as he was rather comically manhandled into a standing embrace by the considerably smaller woman.
“Hell yeah,” affirmed Jinta. This lady just tackled Tessai, one-armed? He watched as her chest squashed against him, threatening to bust out of her top. Yeah, he was liking her vibe already. “I was born ready. From what I’ve seen so far, this place is whack. Massive statues outside, and the whole thing is underground!”
“We have a whole thing underground too,” Ururu reminded him snidely. He could be such an embarrassment… But their hostess seemed good-humored and generous, and she was curious. She turned back to Kūkaku and nodded her polite assent. “We would be grateful. Is it a coincidence that it’s underground? Or is building spaces like this a shared interest?”
“Well, I’m glad you appreciate my style. Come on, follow me!” Kūkaku turned to her right and started moving towards the door before answering Ururu’s question.
“Actually, it’s for practical reasons. I like having my space, but building anything with too many levels above ground will draw unwanted attention. My cannon has the potential of becoming a military target, and this way, I don’t need to worry about damaging my house if I need to kick somebodies ass. Not to mention needing a small amount of space above ground makes it easier to move.”
Opening the side door, she turned to look back at the group with a bemused expression. “I imagine it’s the same for your underground training room. After all, can you imagine having that space above ground? Instead of a candy store, you’d have to pretend you run a gymnasium or an ice rink.”
the shiba family
The Hōgyoku has been eying this thing for months.
Actually - perhaps a bit longer, given how often the daemon's passed by the structure. And with increasing frequency, in fact. This time was less incognito than times prior, however, as the vessel chosen by the Hōgyoku's sentience was far less stealthy than the others he'd used to slip by. It was the opposite type of cadaver, in fact. As made evident by the long, muscular tail that was balanced on the opposite end of whatever it was clinging to the towering cannon above the Shiba complex.
Whatever it was that had drawn the Hōgyoku here was evidently keeping his attention. The way he'd wrapped the entirety of the wyvern's great, agile mass was no less than certainly impressive, given the density of the creature's construction, that is. But not to worry. He wasn't so heavy that he might topple a tower of Shiba's quality so easily, simply by perching on it. Why was he doing this, anyway? Something had drawn him to not only stare directly down the barrel of the cannon, but to open the wyvern's jaws in order to bite the brim of the barrel, as if attempting to tear at least a wyvern, mouth-sized piece off of it.
Kūkaku had been enjoying a quiet day with both Ganju’s gang and the fullbringers out of the house when she sensed an unfamiliar presence appear outside. She darted up the stairs to hear Koganehiko shouting, “A creature has landed on the cannon!”
Making her way through the door, she immediately recognized the so-called “creature” that had landed on her cannon. Though they had never met, the descriptions she’d gotten from Kisuke left her with no doubt of who this was.
As the Hōgyoku opened his jaw, she flash stepped over to the cannon, so she was perched on the brim, looking directly up into the wyvern’s mouth as she shouted, “Hey Asshole! Get off my canon! If you want a chew toy, get Urahara to make one for you!”
