This angelic quality [of Paulâs face] was not necessarily always reflected in Paulâs behaviour.  Hoffman noted that though in terms of verbal wit he could give as good as he got, Paulâs replies lacked the caustic edge of Johnâs words: âThere was never really any bitterness in Paul.âÂ
Yet it seemed to the photographer that the vicious vitriol John would pour on often undeserving victims was quite evidently to Paulâs pleasure. Â âIn a way Paul wallowed in it, because John always played up to his requirements. Itâs a useful thing to have somebody like that, whoâs capable of putting down people you donât like.â
 - Dezo Hoffman, photographer of little baby beatles
Iâll never get over this little fact, that if Paul didnât like you or youâd really pissed him off or just because, heâd let John slash into you without mercy. Leave John to tear into someone, tear them down with his sharp tongue and cruel wit.
Because Paul was the one who reigned John in when he got like that, he was the one who could calm him down and actually have the authority to tell John enough.
Just another darker aspect of Paul, which I find absolutely fascinating.
Paul is Johnâs plaything.
Not to be overly-sappy/analytical (then again, when isn't being overly-analytical a thing when it comes to McLennon), but I really love the slight difference in size of John and Paul's hands, with John's slightly larger?? "Beautiful hands" comments aside, something about it is so endearing, as it's just one of those many contrasts they happen to have that get to me.
Just imagining little moments where John and Paul were palm-to-palm, or maybe even with fingers laced together... still mirrors of one another, but that subtle difference allowing them to see where one ends and the other begins - despite usually being lost in one another.
Another wonderful contrast â€ïž
I just wanna say your anon who suggested John singing the song I Can't Make You Love Me by george michael thinking Paul didn't love him is SATAN and now i need an angsty fic using that damn song as inspiration. It actually physically hurt me when i heard 'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't, You can't make your heart feel something it won't, I'll close my eyes, then I won't see the love you don't feel when you're holding me...And I will give up this fight". SATAN I TELL YOU, DEMON.
THOSE WORDS, THEY FUCKING KILL ME.Â
âI canât make you love me, if you donât, Paul,â John would say almost matter of fact, gazing across the room to where Paul stood, tall and rigid and beautiful. When John met Paulâs eyes, they were dark, the stare he was receiving back was hard as stone. John had just gotten off the phone with Yoko, they had made up, he was going back, he had too.Â
It felt like oceans were separating him and Paul, and John had to force himself to be okay with that, to even embrace it. Self preservationâ Paul would understand, wouldnât he?
âYou canât make your heart feel somethinâ it wonâtââÂ
âJohnââ
ââcanât, canât feel, for me,â John could hear his voice growing cold, an acidic mood bubbling right below the surface. Johnâs eyes never moved away from Paul, Paulâs body, Paulâs faceâ watching as Paul bit at the inside of his cheeks, visibly swallowed, once, twice; when Paul licked at his lips, as if preparing to speak, John decided no more. He reached up and removed his glasses, eyes squeezing shut as he pinched at the space just between his eyes. John was acquiring a silent migraineâ from not sleeping, from stress, from Yoko, from heartbreak, from the words heâs had to say despite how they tasted like poison and the inside of his body burning in pain, emotional painâ the worse kind.Â
And, and from Paul.Â
John jumped when a hand, a gentle hand, touched his armâ placed itself there as John opened his eyes and looked over at it. A large hand, almost as large as his own, pale with bitten fingernailsâ a masculine hand, dark hair starting at the wrist and making itâs way down the arm, a stark contrast. A boyish hand, with fingers longer than his only by a bit, slender, elegant. Even without his glasses, even with it being slightly blurry, John still could describe this hand in detail, because it was Paulâs, and John knows him so personally.Â
âJohn.â The older man would turn his face up to meet Paulâs, to meet those eyes that bore into him, and he felt grateful without the glasses because if he could see clearly Paulâs gaze would leave John feeling totally stripped naked, vulnerable and shakingâ quivering, weak, desperate. What happened to the raging oceans between them?Â
Paulâs hand gave a light squeeze to Johnâs bicep, but he might as well have squeezed Johnâs heart. âJohn,â Paul sounded so small, so⊠so terrified. John heard the 15 year old Macca again, wanting to speak up and say something, but couldnât. John remembers laughing at him whenever Paul got so worked up like that, teasing the younger for getting so tongue tied, flustered. He couldnât bring himself to laugh now.
What is Paul playinâ at?
âIâll close my eyes,â John said, barely above a whisper really, despite the fact it was only them two alone in the apartment. Paulâs thumb caressed Johnâs arm through the thin long sleeve, very subtle of course. John couldnât help the quirk at the edge of his lips, because he closed his eyes and then Paul was moving.Â
John dropped his specs in the process of Paul pushing and pulling at John so that he could properly pull the older man into a hug, a hug where their chests met as Paul loosely wrapped his arms about Johnâs neck, and cradled the back of his head with those large, yet slender and pretty hands of his.Â
And for a moment, John didnât move, arms hovering, body rigid. John kept his eyes shut, not daring to peak, because if he couldnât see at all, then he wouldnât see the love Paul didnât have for him, even as the younger held Johnâ clung to him, gentle yet demanding.Â
Paul was the pull, and John was the push.Â
I will give up this fight.Â
So John did, relinquishing with a heavy, stuttering exhale as he placed his arms around Paul, finally answering the demand. John buried his head in the crook of Paulâs neck and just breathed, breathing as if his lungs havenât tasted fresh air in decades. He tried to burn the feeling of Paulâs soft hair tickling at his cheeks and nose, tattoo the memory of Paulâs fingers gently petting and playing with the hairs at the base of his skull, moving up and through the hair, applying just the lightest of pressure while sliding back down.Â
John grasped at Paulâs back, and Paul held him closer now, pressed so close they might as well have been trying to meld into each other.Â
And yet John still had his eyes shut tight, because he didnât want to cry, didnât want to hurt anymore. And because, with his eyes closed, he could imagine feeling the love he had dreamed of Paul having for him, could imagine Paul did love him as he held tight to John and John clung onto Paul.Â
The minutes were crumbling away just at their feet, and yet, John was able to have this one, this one last minute.
@novakflower donât apologize, itâs okay! Lol
Oh I donât actually like angst fics, because I canât handle reading them, it like, physically hurts because I get so sad and I feel for the characters lol but surprisingly, Iâm good at writing angst fics! Itâs very ironic.
Thank you for thinking it was beautiful ( ââżâ )⥠it was a spur-of-the-moment piece of writing, so it probably has some errors and such. Iâm glad you liked it, even if it was sad!
And no, itâs not weird! Itâs not weird at all. If it helps, Paul was wanting to finally confront John about their whole relationship, to talk to Johnâ to tell John that âI do love you, you daft git! I do, I do I do! I love you.â But he couldnât, didnât know how.
John didnât know Paul loved him, but Paul did, Paul always loved John. He didnât mean to hurt John, didnât mean to do whatever he did to hurt himâ to have John think Paul might not love him anymore.
Hopefully the mclennon ficlet Iâm writing will make you happier!

I like how this post went from really sweet things to things that r just so dumb
Also I heard at Georgeâs funeral ringo farted and excused it by saying all things must pass
Imagine if Ringo actually did move to America in 1961. Everything wouldâve been different.
i love this. a lot
These boys, I love these boys to the moon and back, such dorks!
But I think itâs rather fascinating, how in a weird way, of course it made sense Ringo and George would be closest, as opposed to how John and Paul were closest. Of course they were all close and were basically like family, but, I dunno, their fun lil facts seem to correlate with my observation.Â
Anyway, funny how even here it points out how uniquely close John and Paul wereâ John calling Paul his estranged fiance [and while John claims he didnât like Paulâs music, he did, he was just a right tosser when he felt hurt] and Paul, well, of course Paul got jealous whenever someone tried, or managed too, get close to John. John was his, in a way, and Paul was Johnâs.Â
ANYWAY Iâm livid John basically thought there was a problem with almost every aspect about himselfâ parts that I and so many absolutely fucking ADORE. His nose is beautiful, like a Roman/Greek statue. His voice is so unique, I love it, the Beatles wouldnât be the Beatles without his voiceâ so slosh to that! And also, whoever that reporter who called him fat can absolutely meet me in the ring to throw some fisticuffs. John was never fat, he was a young lively man! He was pretty healthy at that time of his lifeâ a little baby fat never hurt anyone, we all have itâ Paul still has some of his baby fat! Fuck that reporter, seriously. John was so insecure, so vulnerable.Â
You know, I really hope Paul or the other Beatles truly were there for him during those times, or if they knew about those insecurities, tried to be there for him in some way. I think I remember hearing Paul did certain things to sort of comfort John whenever he had to read certain things in public [was it that BBC recording?] because Johnâs dyslexia would make it difficult for him [though I doubt he knew it at that time]
And omg, itâs just, so cute how Paulâs voice was cracking while he was singing/performing in front of John for the first time because he was so nervous! Literally, like a boy asking his crush out or trying to talk to them, thatâs what it reminds me of. A boy trying to talk to, ask out, or impress their person of interest.
Also, now Iâm curious about the size/width of the Beatles dicks and I feel so much shame about that.
About Johnâs insecurity and Paul reassuring him, last december ( 2019), there was a good Paul interview and he mentioned this:
âPaul McCartney: I mean, John Lennon was not that secure in himself. I remember John saying to me once: âwhat are people going to think of me when Iâm dead? I wonder if they will like meâ and I said: âNow, just you stop, listen to me. People are going to go crazy, people love you and they are going to love you more.â Obviously, thatâs turned out to be the case. However, I had to reassure him and say: âYouâre great. You may not think it, you may worry youâve not done enoughâ, I said, âBut believe me, you have.â ____________________________
Personally, i feel like this sort of thing happened a lot more than Paul let us know, Paul reassuring him, telling him he was worthy, that he deserved to be loved and have peopleâs admiration.Â
Augh, yes, this got me right in the feels.
And youâre probably right, considering thereâs a lot Paul has probably downplayed or just straight up omitted in regards to his and Johnâs relationship and dynamic.
I really do hope there was a lot of times, like that, comforting and reassurance, soft and vulnerable.
If you thought that testosterone was immune to Beatlemania... you are totally wrong
Just take a look at these guys:
where are boys like these today?
7 February 1964 - The Beatles landed at the JFK Airport of New York The beginning of the âBritish invasionâ !!!
I've gotten some mclennon hate recently and it's sorta getting to me and making me start to doubt mclennon (I know it sounds horrible) but do you have anything reassuring for me? I just feel like I need some help right now
oh honey, whenever you doubt just go to your friend Marco so that he can kindly remind you that:
1.Paul revealed that John Lennonâs âJealous Guyâ is about him. (Paul McCartney - Playgirl, February 1985)
2.Paul admitted that there are things about John Lennon he wouldnât tell unless both Yoko Ono and Cynthia Lennon were dead. (Hunter Davies, âoff-the-recordâ telephone conversation with Paul, May 3, 1981)

4.John used to call Paul âbabyâ, âloveâ âbunnyâ.
5.They were the most important person in each other life.
6.John was jealous of Paulâs girlfriends.
7.Paul was jealous of Stuart. (Paul McCartney in The Anthology)
8.When John took lsd by mistake, Paul brought him home and took lsd too cause he wanted to be with John in misery and fear. (George Martin - With a Little Help from My Friends: The Making of Sgt. Pepper)Â
9.They did many secret holidays just the two of them.
10.During the Beatles tours John always slept with Paul in one room, while George and Ringo slept in another. (Gary Jamesâ Interview With The Beatlesâ Road Manager Bob Bonis)
11.John wrote âIf I fellâ for Paul.
12.Paul wrote âHere there and everywhereâ for John.
13.John always compared his relationship with Paul to a marriage and sex.
14.John always used to describe Paul as handsome and cute.
15.Paul used to take photos of John when he was asleep. The next person who will do this will be Yoko Ono, Johnâs wife.
16. In 1980, during Johnâs last interview, he admitted that âPaul was the first love of my life, Yoko the second.â
17.When Yoko became Johnâs girlfriend Paul was dead jealous. He sent a postcard faking the signature with the quote âyou and your jap tart think youâre hot shitâ. (Francie Schwart- Body Count)
18.When John and Yoko moved for some months in Paulâs house, he couldnât stand hearing them having sex. Upset, he often left to go to gay bars.( Body Count - 1972)
19.When John and Paul split up, John told him that âhe didnât want to hold his hand anymoreâ, and Paul left Abbey Road crying. (Â Luck and Circumstance: A Coming of Age in Hollywood, New York, and Points Beyond - 2011)
20.People who worked at Abbey Road called Paul âJohnâs princessâ. (Yoko ono in âJohn Lennon - The Lifeâ by Phlip Normanâ)
21.John had a photo of him and Paul in his room. (image)
22. Paul had a gigantic photo of him and John in his studio. (image)
23.During the 70s they talked to each other through songs like an old married couple who went through a divorce.
24. In 1980 John wrote many unfinished love songs and put them together in a tape for Paul.
25.âHey Judeâ is about Julian, but unconsciously is about John.
26..âOh!darlingâ is about Paul crying and wanting to die âcause John left him.
27.In his interviews Paul canât stop saying that he slept with John many times. When a journalist asked him what he would do with John if he came back for a day, he answered âI would spend it in bed with himâ. (Paul McCartney answers questions for Q magazine, 1998)
Are you reassured now honey?
John and Paul during the recording of Iâll Follow The Sun in 1964.
J: Iâm playing, baby! Donât stop me now.
P: Oh, noâŠ
J: Iâm not looking at you, am I?
P: You WERE! I know!
J: Well⊠I can laugh.
P:Â I know I canât stop laughing when youâve got tears(?) in your eyes.
J: Well, Iâm laughing over here.
P: I know, but I can see __(?) and everything.
I love how Paul sayâs âYou WERE!â lol
Can anyone please tell me where I could download this/find it on youtube? I adore it to bits
HE CALLED âBABYâ đđđđđđ
nudge nudge
Okay . I seriously canât stop looking now.
I am like almost sure thatâs somethingâs actually happening there.
This interview was to promote Paulâs book âMany Years From Nowâ. Just before this they were talking about The Beatles break up and the bandâs money issues and Allan Klein. At this point in the interview Paul is asked if his relationship with John was always âspikyâ. He says that it wasnât that they loved each other and he still does.Â
Parkinson:Â (..) Was it always a spiky relationship? I mean you say you loved him and that love comes through in the book, did he love you?
Paul: Yeah, I think he did actually. (Joking around) Weâll check, excuse me for a moment⊠John, come on baby, did ya⊠? Yes!. No, I think he did, yeah. It wasnât actually a spiky relationship at all. It was very warm, very close and very loving, I think, of all The Beatles. We used to say, I think we were amongst the first men to come out openly, âcause remember you know, it was quite strange in those days and it was a long time ago. Homosexuality was still sort of largely illegal. We used to say I love him on interviews and interviewers would get slightly taken aback you know, a man saying he loves him. But I think, quite generally, I think we really did and I still do.. Um.. but the business thing came right in the middle of it and the lawyers came along with the business thing. And I talked to John many years later because itâs great saving grace that we did put our relationship back together. Thank God for that because I donât know what Iâd do now with him gone if we hadnât. I think I would be sort of wracked with all sorts of guilt. But, we did and chatting to him one of the first things he said to me when we met after the break up and things calmed down, he said âDo they try to put you against me like they put me against you? Do they do that?â and I said my God if they do. And he said itâs good, good to know because theyâre always trying to pin me against you..
EXCusE mE !??? @mclennonwasreal
He basically admitted it⊠I meanâŠ
âIt was very warm, very close and very loving, I think, of all The Beatles. Wait, lemme just show you again⊠âI think we were amongst the first men to come out openly, âcause remember you know, it was quite strange in those days and it was a long time ago. Homosexuality was still sort of largely illegal.â
