growing up queer in the south is hard to explain unless you’ve done it. it’s a middle ground between rebellion against outdated mindsets and the intense love you find in your community. it’s taken me too long to say that i love the south. i love southerners, i love their tenacity, and i love back porches on a summer sunday afternoon with sweet tea, where everyone’s welcome.

so thank you to alex claremont-diaz for reminding me to never forget that being queer in the south is something to be prideful of and joyful about. this one’s for the patron saint of bisexual southerners; love is indomitable.

I swear if freaking Miguel Ramos appears on my screen in RWRB 2 I’m going to actually be throwing physical tomatoes. He wasn’t in the freaking book for a reason and we do NOT want him to come back. I’m also still bitter we never got Rafael Luna in the movie because I’m actually imagining the most HANDSOME man imaginable. The directors genuinely just replaced one Mexican character for another and didn’t think we wouldn’t notice (this isn’t Casey McQuinstons fault though she can do no wrong my little queer icon). They got rid of a plot line and I’m still bitter years later. 💔

When the RWRB sequel comes out, I NEED flashbacks. Specifically to when Alex used to sneak into Junes room to see Henry’s picture in the magazine. Like yes I know June isn’t in the movie but I NEED THE MAGAZINE SCENE. It’s such an important part of the plot to me (and I also have so many editing ideas) CASEY PLS THE CHILDREN YEARN TO SEE THE MAGAZINE SCENE ON THEIR SCREENS.

I stand by the fact that I want to know more about Liam. This poor boy was just making out with his best friend, probably assuming that they were on the same page while said best friend though “oh yea this is just some normal bro stuff” AND THEN CALLS HIM YEARS LATER ASKING IF IT WAS GAY. YES ALEX YOU KISSING A GUY WAS GAY. OH MY GOD.
