What are the scarves i see on a lot of rangers for? It seems like an unnecessary accessory
Hi! Yeah I thought so too as I started out as a ranger, but they really are pretty useful. They can double as a quick mask for smoke until you can get to the small cotton filter mask we use, as well as an impromptu bandage, something to keep cool with if you find water, or to use to keep your neck warm, because your neck lets off the most heat. It has a lot of uses, and on top of it, Rangers are often given a shawl that can double as a bigger warmer scarf, or a small blanket. These are often in camouflage colors if you are doing a mission that need more stealth, or in ranger colors, often with your base’s insignia on it so you can continue ranger duties on windy and cold days while still being easy to spot if a civilian needs your aid.

Hi there I was wondering if you could give me any tips on how I could start my own path to becoming a Pokemon researcher. Throughout my journey I've discovered that battling isn't for me and I'd much rather just learn about pokemon and make friends with them.
Sure thing!
It can be a little difficult, but there are definitely ways to put yourself out there! I lucked out a little bit; Professor Rowan actually came to the Veilstone Gym looking for someone who could help a Chimchar evolve by providing a Fighting-type sparring partner. Since I grew up with a Growlithe in the house and was used to Fire-type Pokémon as well, I was brought down to the lab, and, well, the rest is history!
The usual approach is to return to school to get a certificate in whichever field of research you are interested in. This obviously is a great way to start, and gives you a lot of knowledge before beginning that part of your life. However, most people don’t have that much time or don’t live close to a good school, and so it’s not always feasible.
What I would suggest is volunteering to start on this path. Rangers often have programs for a range of tasks, and most research labs could always use an extra pair of hands- I just helped interview some potential new interns. Demonstrating interest is a great way to show teams what you’re made of.
Best of luck!

Rangers often work hand in hand with various researchers and their assistants.Because a lot of our creed is to protect nature and the pokemon who live in it, we have a lot of biologists and researchers checking out the local habitats and monitoring water levels, plant growth, populations, and other such things, while we help by capturing pokemon for health checks, or helping escort the researchers to their locations, some of which are in hard to get to areas.
You can also check in with nature preserves. We have Rangers stationed there, and the staff is always looking for more researchers to keep tabs on the local populations.
If you head to one of our Ranger regions, you will likely end up in Fall City, and can ask Base Leader Joel or his assistant about getting in touch with the local researchers and can quickly get assigned. Of if you end up in Almia, its not that far to the Union, where our researchers often do most of their work.
Unfortunately, Oblivia, while providing opportunities with unexplored areas, is still short staffed on rangers to help out, so its for more experienced researchers.
Ranger school’s test of courage! Shadows of Almia was my first Pokemon ranger game, and this part along with graduation really got me pumped for the rest!

How do sanitation workers keep from crushing Pokemon in dumpster? Especially ones like Trubbish
Hey Anon!So I had a poke around the Urban Rangers’ Base for this one, and it turns out they have some sort of training partnership with the sanitation workers there. See, both parties are pretty friendly with a city’s local Trubbish (or Garbodor, or Grimer…basically anything else that’s living in the trash), since they tend to be permanent residents there. I mean, a safe habitat, a steady food source, what’s not to like? So most of the time, all they need to do is call the trash Pokémon out while they clear up, and then they can tootle back in again when it’s all cleaned up. Apparently, even new inhabitants are led out by fellow Pokémon during this process, so no-one gets left behindIn some areas where this partnership isn’t as strong, garbage teams will often bring a ghost-type with them, because interestingly enough, they can read life signatures in a trash heap. They used to use sniffer Pokémon like Growlithe, but in a pile of waste, there’s a whole lotta smell going on, and it wasn’t as foolproof as it is nowadays
