really really cool funerary inscription from roman britain set up for the slave of a man named hardalio by a guild of his fellow-slaves. conservus is not a super commonly-attested word (i see it mostly in comedy and in legal documents) and certainly not in the context of a collegium (so far this is the only mention of one i've found). oftentimes our descriptions of interactions between slaves are colored by the viewpoint of slave-owners, so it's really cool to see something set up for a slave by other slaves.
do bugs get muscle cramps? do fish get tension headaches? how big and complicated does a body have to get before it'll just fuck itself up for no reason?
My brother is the most fascinating person in the world. I just found out he goes to regular poker nights with his buddies and uses real money. I told him this sounded like a great way to lose money and he said “no, I win because I count cards”. I asked him why his friends hadn’t kicked him out yet if he wins all the time and he says only keeps a percentage and divides up the rest among the remaining players, because it wouldn’t be fair to keep it all since technically he’s cheating, and if they all run out of money too fast then the game is over. They use real money and not chits because it’s more exciting that way. Digging further into this I suspect that this is also how he’s discreetly paying back his friends who have bought him food or beer and won’t let him reimburse them directly. I’m bragging right now. I’m so proud of this lawful chaotic little freak
Emoji menus should not close once you've clicked an emoji. I'm typing out an entire pictographic sentence here do not close my beautiful toolbox on my hands I am not even close to done.
Debugging is hell, I hate programming, I hate everything, fuck everything, I hate github, I hate bugfixes, I hate n^100000 other things about making software.
you've gotta be kind to yourself no matter what
this is twice as true in the winter
the world isn't ending and you don't need to kill yourself it's literally december. it's december. and you need to be nice to yourself.
Comic I did not get to finish before my procreate gallery got wiped out. :/
Took progress screenshots thankfully,,, might try to finish it one day but rn I don’t have motivation, so I share the wips for now.
I think what might help the whole "low engagement in fandom spaces driving creatives out because they don't see the point in sharing anything only to get crickets or critics" is not the shaming tone of "look this is how you get nothing, you entitled shits" that tends to be very pervasive, but rather pointing out how actually rewarding it can be to leave nice comments.
I like to leave very long rambling comments on people's fics and that has actually netted me some very real, genuine friendships and we've become cheerleaders for each other. My friend has a D&D Podcast that she doesn't get ANY sort of engagement out of, so I started listening to it at work and livereacting the things I enjoy about it and showing her my investment and it makes her very happy and it makes me happy that she's happy.
Being nice to people... is actually a good enough reason to do things, shockingly enough. You don't have to do it. No one should shame you for not doing it. But it doesn't actually cost anything to make other people happy, especially if they created something that made you happy.

btw you're allowed to enjoy two differing interpretations of the same character and you don't have to justify why you like it to anyone. you can like your evil character to be malicious and serious and you can like depicting them as a silly goober. you can enjoy seeing people draw two characters in all sorts of different contexts and dynamics without having to pick one over the other. you don't have to come up with a complex reason. you don't have to explain yourself to anyone. you can like a character multiple ways without having to justify why it's not problematic or why it's not weird. do what you want. it's fandom, not a testimony before the court.

"why is tumblr how i found out xyz" because you check your social media first thing in the morning instead of like. checking the news. hope that helps
Had a dream I invented something known as Chatter Chess, where you'd assign character names to every piece on your board and roleplay out the whole "battle" - every lost piece involved roleplaying a dramatic death, every strategic move involved trying to roleplay the move without revealing too much about your plan in the process, people would watch matches and once the Queens started dying people were getting REALLY into the drama of it all and once a King was finally cornered, oh man, the crowd went NUTS
This might be one of the nerdiest dreams I've ever had, look at that. Reread that and really think about what my brain did.
