recent chapter got me thinking more about ghouls stigmas and their side effects. because I guess it truly depends on how powerful said stigma is... and making a small list of those.

Taiga can see into the future and can basically spam his ability as many time as he can stand it but the drawbacks are it gives him terrible headaches, possibly messes with his memory and makes him crave anomalies for sustenance.

Subaru can read objects and people by touching them but that puts him under great stress and leaves him feeling very weak when he does so

Alan is super endurance/strength but he like turns really violent yet hyper focused on defeating whatever is in his way and its hard to shake him out of it.

Haru's (checks the wiki... gravity control...) makes him very fast but leaves him very brittle.

Luca can make barriers but there seems to be an anomaly that appears when he uses it.

Towa's is linked with his emotional state so it's dangerous when he's upset.

Jiro's is another one with a ton of drawbacks because it's always active, useful in fights but when getting treatment only Yuri is unaffected.

Ritsu's makes him practically like an unbreakable rock, but he can barely move while his stigma is active iirc! It's near the opposite of Haru's.

Romeo's stigma blows up whatever he wants but the extent of the explosion is based on how much he cares about the item. Which isn't bad but it means when he needs a big explosion he needs to give up something he cares about.

I have a lot of thoughts swirling in my head about the latest episode so I'm gonna write them here (This'll focus on the episode as an episode and not the lore stuff :))

As an episode, Deadly in Love made many improvements upon Waves of Love (Though I think Waves of Love is still above Deadly in Love for me, I'm very biased towards all the Rui character spotlights we got in Waves of Love)

The ending where you choose a suitor/contestant, despite ending the same way (your choice being interrupted) was done better!

Instead of it being Jin interrupting during the climax.. for what reason?? Because he was scared to hear MC choose someone that wasn't him?? Or because he didn't want that pressure on her? (could 100% be both too) Elias interrupts at that moment because it's to stop a different ending from happening. His plan only works if it happens in that moment, so it feels more authentic! (And less like Jin being, for lack of a better word, immature as he most of the time is (sorry about the Jin slander 😭 I swear I like him))

To add to this, everyone feels useful. There's not one person I can subtract from this ending that you can still get the same outcome with. Haku located the anomalies within the castle, Alan killed the anomalies, Elias beelined for the Rogue ending, Ritsu used his recorder to prove statements the Masked Guy said in order to exploit them, and Taiga obviously led the way and got 6,666,666,666 points.

This is different from Waves of Love, cause really you could've just had Jin there and any other 5 people and the outcome would've been the same (as long as Jin and his partner won the challenge for the sleeping spot. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe Ed is also essential to this mission to be Jin's partner? We don't really know who out of the two of them had the foresight to win so that they could investigate the area)

Woo, ending does ending things that are good. There's one thing I'll say had me offput about the episode though.

Everything goes too smoothly. We know the Masked Man wanted them to survive to the end and get the True Ending. However. This guy shows NO growth and keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over again. He always says things specifically wrong enough that the ghouls can take advantage of it. Some of which I'm sure were purposeful, some of which were absolutely not. This guy keeps to his plan the entire time and never tries to change up his strategy or even watch closely enough to notice anything that was off and that people were scheming. Like Elias stealing the bug??

Honestly the more I think about the viewpoint I can see why the writers made those decisions and how it ties in without making things too convenient, so nevermind! Now I appreciate the episode a little bit more. I can't even say the Game Master is dumb because if Taiga purposefully throws and Elias catches onto it you're kinda screwed if you don't realize it early, which not knowing your contestant's psychology makes it practically impossible, for all the Game Master knew Taiga was just lazy, plus Taiga's points would've been settled at the end and the Game Master would've won. By the time the Game Master could've known that anything is off (by the time Ritsu mentioned settling the points) it was far too late since it was during the final trial, and they couldn't add a way to get more points.

All this proves is that the Game Master didn't know the ghouls well enough to be a professor or the chancellor I guess!

This is kind of off topic to this post but I see a lot of people that are like "Elias clearly didn't care if MC got hurt during his individual challenge" which I just wanna defend him for a moment because he needed to have her be shocked in order to confirm his theory about Maya's panel order. If he tried to avoid the early panels he would've had to go in blind for the deadlier panels and do some guess work, which likely would've gotten MC killed. 1/3 panels are shock panels on each line, if he didn't reveal the shock panel he would've had to make a 1/2 guess on which one was the shock panel which would decrease his chances of being right.

What shocks me about Elias is how easily he was able to grasp Maya's way of thinking. I do challenges like these with my friends a lot, (death games are fun to roleplay, my one friend hosts them all the time so I understood everything in this episode pretty rapidly due to years of experience lol) and I'm sometimes able to guess what decisions my friends will make on a challenge or a twist they'll use but that's after I've known them personally for years. Elias surpasses me, and that's a scary thought. He's a beast when it comes to psychology and I hope we get to see more of it 👀

You may look hot Elias, but you’re still the sus janitor… 👁️👁️

Okay lots to unpack here cause Taiga has used “Malab” on these past accounts from what we have been shown.

1st time: When MC first encountered Kyklos and Taiga on the train. After he smashed his head on the window (crazy fucker I love him) he used the glass as ammo

2nd time: The second encounter with Kyklos during the Who Killed Robin Act II on the train.

3rd time: When Taiga and Ritsu were together in Romeo’s office. Taiga broke the mermaid statue and maybe he saw a future where Romi would be safer stuck down there versus the apocalypse that was unfolding outside lol😫

4th time: Boom bow this episode right here

Present time. Darkwick said he had to keep it a secret, but when Taiga said he tried to tell someone they didn’t believe him. I’m guessing Romi, old captain, or maybe (it’s a stretch) Mio cause it did say they were friends. Also he said he can tell how far and how long depending on he’s feeling. He used it TWICE in this setting and he said his head was starting to fuck with him. MY POOR BABY😭🥺 Anyways he initially told MC 666 then used Maleb and stated that it changed which HELLO TIME LOOP THEORY confirmed for me. To me this means in a previous timeline it was 666 then used maleb and it changed to 616 this time.

Also since it fucks with his head why he’s always tired, hungry, forgetful his mind is literally a goldfish at times probably a side effect of using it to much? Just think of the SILENT BATTLE this man has been fighting on his own, nobody believing him, previous years of trying to stop bad endings…. *SOBBING* I’m hurting my own heart right now I’m sorry 😭

HELLO MVP OF THE CHAPTER RIGHT HEREEEEEE. When I tell yall in Taiga we trust🗣️🗣️🗣️ People are always like why is he always shooting stuff and laying around blah blah blah. HE HAD A PLAN he always does. This explains why Ritsu could never find him, Taiga was on straight DEMON TIME defeating the guard dogs. He kept his streak until he had over SIX BILLION POINTS. He destroyed the camera so the game master couldn’t see him racking up. Hello if he wanted to he would typa man😻

Also let me note Elias backing up Taiga without even having to communicate about it, I see you👏🏼 Ritsu thank you for always having your audio recording and tripping up the Game master. Alan thank for bashing and whooping all the anomalies butts. Haku… you helped Alan and Sho thanks for cooking you lil green flag husband😹 Everyone did different things to outsmart the game.

I'm pretty sure Taiga also uses his stigma when he was about to fight Towa in the flashback section of part 2 of Who Killed Cock Robin! Which makes sense cause Towa was out for BLOOD, he probably avoided death that way.

A guy that can build a bridge!!! Hi Mio! He's such the guy to jump in to help anyone soo as long as we properly learn about the bridge then we're set for that!

Ofc unless Luca wants to speedrun these tasks as they're written and gets all 😡 at Mio because "We can help MC's curse and save her!"

Poor Kaito who is looking forward to festivities with his buddy just for his buddy to be picked as one of the cowherds. 💀😭 Now you don't get one, I wonder what he'll be doing instead? Maybe going around with Towa instead since Towa's not a cowherd this time!

Then we have Ren, which is such a wildcard to throw in this episode, though I feel like he's gonna take things literally too at the beginning until they get halfway and he's like "this feels way too easy" and then starts overthinking like "Obviously there's gotta be something more, thats how everything works, and we definitely missed it so we're screwed". I'm wondering if his video game knowledge will get him to think outside the box right away?? But who knows, this is why he's a curveball.

We had a lot of lingering questions about this episode last time so I hope this will cover another path at least! I am 100% sticking with my guns about Mio = Bridge Building
