a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.

this is referring specifically to grammatical gender. most russian speakers are used to assuming that words can be of 3 genders (masculine, feminine and neuter) but more advanced linguistics distinguishes 4th (common gender) and some categorizations also consider words that have no gender as a separate group

Okay to expand on what i originally said there's the 4th common gender (общий род). These are nouns like сирота (orphan), ханжа (prude), растяпа (klutz) and the like. These words are always animate, they can describe both men and women and are oftentimes very expressive.

Some researchers also include specific forms of first names and indeclinable surnames in this category (Женя, Саша, Редько, Дейнеко etc)

And then there's the 5th gender aka pluralia tantum (парный род) mostly described by A A Zaliznyak back in 60s. These are words that dont have a singular form. This category is a bit more complicated, it includes words that come in pairs, different substances, periods of time, natural phenomena and some more. E.g ножницы (scissors), дрожжи (yeast), каникулы (holidays), прятки (hide-and-seek)

Theres a lot of debate on whether or not these should be two separate grammatical genders or just one but most linguists prefer not to think about it. This topic is kinda hard to research in russian language and there's definitely more to it (i remember my professor mentioning a guy that came up with more than 10 grammatical genders but i cannot remember his name)

I doubt there's any information on it in english but maybe these will still be useful with help from a translator

So, it happened a few times, I've been receiving emails from, a couple times, a renting company, and more recently a newsletter from a shoe company. And... they both were legit, when I looked for the companies names online, I found the exact same email adresses I was receiving them from. Then I looked more closely and realized one thing: they were sending to someone with my name, but at two email adresses. One was mine, and the second, apparently, was my homonym. There was a difference in the adresses, literally of a point between names. So I know that there is someone, on the other side of the globe, with a different language and culture, who I share my name with and nearly an email adress.
