Writing my thesis propsal
I am writing a proposal for a project I am doing on the Eastern coast of the Red Sea -- I am doing a study of Neolithic occupation trying to understand the relations between these coastal people at the end of the last Ice Age with people inland and across the Red Sea. I am trying to understand these pastoral-fishgaherting relationships. How did we first start interacting with the landscape in what they like to call the 'Neolithic' -- a silly perscreptive very determinstic euro-centric terms used to describe this period between 5000-12000 years ago when we see a pattern of humans settling and buidling houses after which this current wave of agricitural life seems to have come. What were the responses to climate disaster change like?
Hi
Hi all,
Odin is back -- maybe as who ever I am is. Odin is dead. Odin is alive. I do not know, but I suppose he is here? Here I am; I do not know under what name.
9 whole years I've been lost. I suppose, I had began a Cartesian journey of self doubt. I had feared the genealogy of all I had known as I knew it, was false. I'd decided to interrogate all I had known to rid myself of anything that would be false.
In the process of knowing what was true, I felt lost. Truth was intangible. Truth was beyond simple text and easy experiment. Truth required surrender, humility, and, perhaps, death -- the surrendering to a chaos. The experimentation with different epistemological devices -- that is, to see the world in every single way. To allow yourself to not know. To move with the waves until you find land and after land, realizing that the ocean itself is a space that one must find their footing in. Learning how to move with the waves -- with the ocean. Allowing ones self to exist in demonic spaces.
Perhaps this was my tying to Yggdrasil. My 9 years of looking at ruins until something clicks. My sacrifice of myself to myself -- death only allowed once I was worthy of my own sacrifice. The stripping of myself bare. The hanging of myself from the tree of life itself by myself with a worldly fibrous rope and my own spear in my flank. Flipping myself upside down. Slave to the cyclicality of time -- as I understand the patterns of movement as I dangled for 9 long years.
I now die -- and I feel worthy of my return.
I understand now -- I understand what I do not.
Rebirth, however, is a painful process. One must nourish themselves with life. One must remember how to walk. How to talk.
And here I am -- alive again, but having died.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I now work as an archeologist -- I am, of course, many things also.
My hope is to document my days here as I recover myself. Thank you all for being here.

Hello, youâve probably by now seen some of the commotion regarding this topic, like the code we posted a few days ago, or even the Morse code we were posting for a while beforehand. If you have, you might, just from the name, realise what this is: a network for deductionists who want to work together and develop their skills.
Now, it should be obvious that we canât just accept everybody into this group, much as we would like to, it simply wouldnât work. Because of this, weâre making it so that only deduction-orientated blogs can join. There are few requirements, but theyâre pretty big ones:
Post deduction. You can post other things, to an extent, but as explained prior, we want it to be about deduction, so itâs very important.
Be active. You need to post semi-regularly, or at least intend to in the near future.
Those are the rules, and itâs best if you follow them when requesting to join. Because of how new this network is, the second rule has been tweaked, so for the first few weeks we are accepting people who have no deduction posts on their blog, but do plan to, and can prove they will do so in the future.
So, how do you join?
You must be following us
Reblog this post
Send an ask to either this blog and express interest, as well as why you should join.
Pretty simple stuff. The group will communicate through an app/website called GroupMe. Inactive members will be kicked out. Membership will last six months, to make sure inactive blogs donât stay at all, because it just ruins the whole idea of this.
There is also a secondary blog ( @thedeductionnetwork ) that members can join if they want. The blog will reblog all posts made by the members of the network, and also post updates on the group.
Finally, the group will do the following:
Help other members writing posts or finding information for posts
Help other members gain publicity
Hopefully collaborate on some posts
Give deductionists a place to talk and generally have more like-minded people around them
So thatâs it. Any questions or thoughts let us know, and if you want to join, please do. We already have a few members, and many people have been sent invitations. The group also isnât limited to Tumblr, so if you have a WordPress blog or a YouTube channel, or anything else, you can still join, because weâre talking on GroupMe.
Thank you all for reading and we hope you join,
-Amateur Deductions
What a time to be alive!
RSCIS is an interesting concept, and I think if you were to give an example that was a real/more well-known religion, it would have been easier to understand. Also, do you use this in deductions? To me it seems a bit over the top, no offence. It must sound like I don't like the post but I assure you that's not the case, it's a very intriguing idea and I'm excited to try it out, I just had a few criticisms, and thought it'd be good to share them. XW
Thank you. I actually thought about using a real religion, but opted for a hypothetical religion instead, as it was more comfortable. So, many apologies if it led to it being a bit more difficult to understand. I think that profiling systems in general are pretty useful in deduction, allowing you to narrow down possibilities. For example you can deduce why your committed(3) muslim friend was late for dinner, or maybe why your non-committed(1) muslim friendâs pantsâs knee area is worn out, these are a bit obvious, but the principle is the same. I use the system a lot, but honestly Iâve only applied it to one religion up to now. I look forward to seeing your results. I agree that itâs a bit over the top, in fact I was reluctant about writing about it, but thought Iâd share it to see otherâs opinions. I value your criticism, youâre always welcome to share your thoughts and Iâm thrilled to see you try it.
RSCIS
As a detective profiling people comes in handy when predicting a subjectâs next move, past moves, acquaintances, how one should approach a subject or simply what topics to discuss with other people. Now, there are lots of profiling systems out there and there, and I by no means am an expert in profiling or profiling systems, but necessity has forced to make one compatible with the environment I dwell in. Iâm not really sure if this would useful to anybody, but I still think its worth writing about, since its something I use. I live in a region where almost everyone I interact with follows pretty much the same religion. Although, they all follow the same religion, they don't actually follow it the same way, there are variations and different interpretations. These interpretations allow us to predict their actions in certain situations, so I devised a system call RSCIS, that allows me to exploit people's behaviour based on their profiles:
Religion Sect Commitment Intolerance Stress
Religion: To explain I will need an example, let"s take on for example Russel. Russel follows a religion called Teapotism. Okay, so obviously the R in RSCIS is, in this case, Teapotism, we use the first letter that is T.
Sects: religions have what you might call sects. Islam for example has Shia and Sunna, and Christianity has Orthodox and Catholics. This is a bit tricky, I donât usually use the sects themselves, but rather the sub-sects, usually each sect has its scholars, each scholar has different philosophies and people follow different scholars, so I usually use the name of a scholar or someone I know who follows a different philosophy. But, unfortunately I don't know much about  Teapotism save for the fact that it has two sects Orbiting Tea Pot and Not-Orbiting Tea Pot. Russel follows the former, so he is a TO.
For the next two aspects we use a scale of 1-3, 1 being the lowest and 3 the highest.Note that we can use numbers like 1.5 and 2.5.
commitment: commitment is as the name implies how committed one is to the teachings of their own religion. Teapotiesm demands that you drink Tea at least 90 times a day, using aquafina water in the process of making tea, and optionally drinking Tea with a fork. Russel does everything to its fullest he drinks over 90 cups of tea in aquafina water and remarkably drinks all that with a fork. Where do you think he is on the scale? Indeed, Russel is a 3. TO3.
intolerance: Letâs be honest, there is no denying that some religious people take things too far. Examples being ISIS or to some extent the KKK. Teapotists interpret the great Tea potâs words in different ways some go far enough to drown anyone who drinks less than 84 tea cups a day, these guys are a 3. Note, that 3s donât nessceraly have to drown people, as they might be in an age and place where that's just not allowed, but if 3s were to take power all hell would break loose. You wonât know a 3 just by seeing him, they might be friendly to you they may even be philanthropists, they are just intolerant towards those who they view as bad. 2s usually think that it is necessary, but they wonât do it. 1.5s thnk its necessary, but don't like it. And 1s are against it. Remember that this varies from one sect to another, a 2 in one sect is a 3 in another. I know that the word "intolerance" isn't accurate, but you get the idea. It is important to note that the number on the intolerance scale doesn't equate to a person being "good" or "bad". Russel doesn't like drowning innocent people in Tea and doesn't support it, in fact he is against it. TO31
Stress: Stress is how one handles stress. For stress we use either A or P, action or prayer. An A will take action under stress, yes they might pray, but it's not as much as they would take action, there is a spectrum, an A would most likely go to a doctor if they're in need of medical attention. In contrast, Ps will resort to prayer and do little action, Ps are more likely to resort to religious alternate medicine. Russel is an A, ergo TO31A
Note that this is only a preliminary version( then again, so is everything I make) and Iâve only tried it on my demography, so feel free to modify it. Also, Iâm not sure if this is obvious, but I can't stress enough how Iâm not talking about any specific religion here, Iâm not discussing then truth value of any religion, and if certain people are "bad or "good" based on their RSCIS profile. Iâm saying is that religion is open to interpretation, (if it was not we wouldn't be seeing all the different variations of the same religion), and these interpretations can be exploited. As always use this with caution and keep an open mind. . Quaere verum!

A paradox
Say you and I are very close friends and letâs assume weâre both the same age, 18. One day, you accidentally amputate my leg. After amputating my leg you feel the need to redeem yourself, to right your wrong by finding a method to regenerate lost limbs. You promise me that youâll find the method in 42 years, in what you called Day Z. To do so you got into the field of biology and medicine, specialising in limb regeneration techniques. Now back to me. The next day, lets call it Day A, after losing my leg I hopped into my time machine and traveled 42 years to the future, to Day Z, and found 60 year old you. Congratulations, you had just successfully found a way to regenerate limbs. You fix my leg and Iâm off to go. I return back to Day A and tell you that you donât need to become a biologist and that you can go pursue your childhood dream of becoming a galactic assassin. The question now is, who fixed my leg? The moment you knew my leg was fixed Day Z ceased to exist and if Day Z ceased to exist so would my leg, and if my leg ceased to exist Day Z would happen, and if it would happen my leg would grow back, ad infinitum. Meaning that by your not becoming a biologist, no one fixed my leg, and if my leg isnât fixed then youâll still become a biologist. But, by becoming a biologist you would still have fixed my leg, and if my leg is fixed you wonât become a biologist. And it goes on and onâŚ. Odin Verumâs paradox.
Please do be kind enough to point out any fallacies.
The Seanie567 solution to Odin Verumâs paradox:
1)You travel 42 years into the future and get your leg back.
2) This means that in the past 42 years nothing happened to prevent your friend becoming a biologist
3) You travel back to day A and prevent your friend becoming a biologistâŚ
⌠hang on sec, that contradicts premise 2! If 3 were true, that would mean 2 must be false. But 2 HAS TO happen before 3 can occur. Since 2 HAS happened, that means nothing has been done to stop your friend becoming a biologist, in which case, 3 is false, i.e. when you get your leg it is CERTAIN that you did not prevent your friend becoming a biologist.
Simply put, if 2 is true, 3 is necessarily false, in which case by time-travelling into the future you are relinquishing your free will for the next 42 years.Â
You pose an interesting argument, but I donât really think that Iâd necessarily be relinquishing my free will. I believe that the solution is fairly simple. When I returned to day A it didnât really matter, because I actually was in an alternate universe, one where you wonât become a biologist. But, the other you in the previous universe does become a biologist. In other words, I wouldnât have only traveled through time ,but through universes as well. That said, premise 2 should be modified, to do so we must first assign names to the universes, universe X and universe Y (âXâ being the one we started in and âYâ being the one I ended in). We must now add the following words to premise 2, ââŚin universe Xâ. I now live happily with my leg, not violating any laws or logic.
Restating it more clearly, when I return back to day A I will actually have traveled to universe Yâs day A, my actions in universe Y wonât affect universe X, thus I will get to keep my legâŚand my will.
Note that we are assuming the existence of multiple universes, I find the idea much more compelling than one universe.
P.S. I apologise for not replying sooner, I had been quite busy lately.
This all sounds a lot like the Bootstrap paradox, meaning two things:
1 - You didnât *fully* invent it 2 - Nobody knows how to fully solve it
The thing is, to fully understand how a situation like this would play out, at least basic knowledge of time travel would be needed. For example, what happens in the exact same situation, if, for example, time is plastic, and your leg stays rejuvenated but the timeline changes?
I know that we will never know the answer to this, but in order for this to work out fully, in the way you explained, you create something that still makes a paradox, at least I feel it does.
You need to define the parameters of your use of parallel universes; are they all the same? This creates a paradox, almost identical to the Bootstrap (if something repeats itself in a competing loop, who or what started it? How?) and if itâs the opposite, and every parallel universe is different, you create too many possibilities for the paradox/thought experiment to be practical.
Feel free to correct me if Iâm wrong on anything, and thanks for a few minutes of good thinking c;
Youâre right, Iâm guilty of not accurately defining the parameters of the universe. I was using âthe many worlds interpretation(MWI) of quantum mechanicsâ which Max Tegmark calls a level 3 universe( similar to the one featured in the TV show Rick and Morty). In simple terms, The MWI means that for every possible outcome there is a universe. For example, if we were to toss a coin, two universes would branch out, one where the outcome is a tail and the other a head.
We are only concerned with two timelines, those of universe X and Y, the other timelines are irrelevant as they have no direct practical consequence. To illustrate the timelines that weâve created I drew this simple illustration:
Red is for universe Yâs timeline(Now that I think of it should be closer to universe Xâs)
Blue is for universe Xâs timeline.
Green is for other possible universesâ timelines.
âAâ is for day A.
âZâ is for day ZÂ
A Bootstrap implies that we are going around in circles not knowing where we started and ended, but as shown below, this is not the case, our steps are very clear and arenât looping back into each other. We started at AX( universe Xâs day A), the day I took my time machine to ZX. During my time in ZX you regenerated my leg and I was set to go to A. Hereâs the ciritical part, as soon as I arrived at A, universe Y branched out, this is due to the butterfly effect( analogous to how a flutter of a butterflyâs wings might escalate, in time, to form a tornado), since the first moment of my arrival, my first breath, the instance I occupied space I forced the universe to branch out leading to two timelines, where Y cannot directly affect X.
Youâre right about the fact that we might never know the right answer, but it still is a fun thought experiment and mental exercise. Youâre welcome, I always love discussing ideas and sharing points of view. I might be wrong so please point out where I missed up.
An interesting counter, however I have to say that to me, this still doesnât complete/work out.
You were right in saying that it wasnât the Bootstrap paradox, I was wrong and confused it with the Grandfather paradox (wherein of you travel back in time and kill your grandfather, itâs impossible for you to have been born, which means nobody killed your grandfather, which means you were born, meaningâŚ).
That, itself, means nothing, I was just pointing it out. The original paradox bears similarities, but your solution is a different matter, conveniently summarised in one question:
Where are âyouâ in universe Y?
More simply, whilst there is a universe for every different timeline, you could, for example, die during the amputation, or maybe your hair is just a different colour (meaning the paradox occurs in another universe, making it into some form of Bootstrap)?
How, using only logic and reason, do you ensure a Bootstrap-scenario doesnât occur?
As for my location universe Y, it depends on which "me" you're referring to, the "me" that originated from X and arrived at Y?Or do you mean a "me" that's in universe Y to begin with?
If it's the former, I should have finished my adventure arriving back at A (note that A has become branching point, with one branch leading to universe X and another Y) a moment after the past me (the one who just lost his leg) took off to ZX, the present me (the one who just repaired his leg) should have arrived back at A.
If it's the latter, it can be inferred from the previous paragraph above, that another me won't exist, as the passage of time has changed. If my (me being the one who ended up in Y) lifetime were to be in a film, it would have to follow the following steps each time you watch the film.
AX => ZX => AY => Y timeline.
Other timelines have no influence on mine, thus they are none of my concern. I don't see it being practical to care if another universe had a me who didn't survive the amputation or if it had no concept of cause and effect or if didn't work on the MWI, it simply doesn't matter. Yes, another universe could have created some paradox on itself, be it a Bootstrap or otherwise, and if we take the MWI as it is (anything that can happen will happen), then it might be inevitable for a paradox to occur somewhere and somewhen. If that is the case, then I don't knew what will happen, maybe the universe closes up on itself, or somehow prevents a paradox from happening, it simply doesn't practically matter. I can't ensure a paradox not happening and don't care as long as it doesn't affect my universe(s).
I hope this clears it up, and apologise in advance if I have misinterpreted your argument.

You pose an interesting argument, but I don't really think that I'd necessarily be relinquishing my free will. I believe that the solution is fairly simple. When I returned to day A it didn't really matter, because I actually was in an alternate universe, one where you won't become a biologist. But, the other you in the previous universe does become a biologist. In other words, I wouldn't have only traveled through time ,but through universes as well. That said, premise 2 should be modified, to do so we must first assign names to the universes, universe X and universe Y ("X" being the one we started in and "Y" being the one I ended in). We must now add the following words to premise 2, "...in universe X". I now live happily with my leg, not violating any laws or logic.
Restating it more clearly, when I return back to day A I will actually have traveled to universe Y's day A, my actions in universe Y won't affect universe X, thus I will get to keep my leg...and my will.
Note that we are assuming the existence of multiple universes, I find the idea much more compelling than one universe.
P.S. I apologise for not replying sooner, I had been quite busy lately.

11 Questions Tag!
I was tagged by the wonderful @kkaotikkaeb, thank you! áŚ( ͥ° ÍĘ ÍĄÂ°)á¤
The rules for this tag are as follows:
Rules: Always give the rules. Answer the questions, then make up 11 questions of your own for 11 other people to answer. Tag them and link them to this post.Â
And the questions I was given to answer are:
1. Which would you choose: earth, water or fire?
HmmnâŚwater, I guess.
2. What are the first and the last songs that you listened to as for today?
If Iâm being really technical, the first song I listened to today was New York by Alicia Keys (as thatâs what song I had set on my alarm), but the first song I fully listened to today was Descending by Ben Kling and right now I am listening to In the Mood by Glenn Miller.
3. Would you rather explore the deep ocean or the infinite space?
Iâd definitely rather explore infinite space as Iâm thalassophobic, so being in the deep ocean would quite honestly be a nightmare for me. But even if I didnât have a fear of the ocean I would still pick space because??? itâs s p a ce??
4. Which language/s would you want to learn?
Iâd really like to relearn French!
5. Favourite pokĂŠmon/s?
So I havenât played Pokemon in a whileâŚso hyped for sun/moon though omg, but I remember that these ones were some of my favourites:
Chandelure, Aegislash, Garchomp, Gliscor, Banette, Reuniclus, Eelektross, Carnivine, Skarmory and Crobat (yeah crobat is not that great but don t ju d g e okâŚi was l ik e..10).Â
6. You just won a HUUUGE amount of money. How would you spend it?
Well, Iâd probably save majority of it and then, honestly, Iâd spend the remainder on things I like/buy gifts for other people.Â
7. What was the first book you ever read?
I donât really remember what the first book I ever read was, but oddly, I distinctly remember what the first library book I borrowed in primary school was. It was called âThe Cassowaryâs Eggâ lmao.Â
8. North, South, East or West?
South?
9. What would you want to eat right now?
Itâs 7:13pm at the time of writing; I re a l l y want to eat a nice, hot, steamy bowl of macaroni with cheese. ;_;
10. A song that comforts you.
Whenever Iâve had a bad day I like to listen to Show you How by the Killers. It calms me down I guess? Which is a bit odd, considering the style of the song, but yeahâŚ
11. Swords or guns?
OhâŚummmâŚswords?
Iâll be tagging @spokenlikeamadman, @dammitcarriage, @carryonmywaywardskynet, @somuchstufftodo, @sherlock-isbored, @thebakerstreetblogger, @crowleythecat, @neverdoingmuch, @shepherdessinthetardis, @memecannot, @terrafoanime.Â
You donât have to do it if you donât want to, of course. Â And if I havenât tagged you but youâd like to do it, please go ahead! :)Â
Here are your questions ( ͥ° ÍĘ ÍĄÂ°) :

2. Favorite strange history fact?
Ezio Auditore was a good friend of Leonardo Da Vinci.
3. What are you most proud of?
The embracement of my own madness. If average people call those who think differently, who think and behave in a way average peopleâs mediocre unambitious mindâs donât understand as mad, then I am mad and proud about coming in  terms with my own madness.
4. Do you prefer rain or snow?
Rain, itâs far more relaxing.
5. 3rd most important person in your life?
This is a tough oneâŚâŚStrange as this might seem, Batman is the 3rd most important person,in my life. Though fictional, the concept of Batman had a huge influence on my personal development. He was an idol to me, a person bent on both mental and physical perfection. DCâs worldâs greatest detective.
6. If you have any scars, how did you get them?
I have 2 scars. The first would be slightly tearing the menisci in both knees. How? Foolishly lifting too much weights. Fortunately, there is a chance they might heal on their own. The other one is a blue ink dot above one of my knuckles. A friend stabbed me with a pen. The pen mustâve reached the dermis leaving me with a pale blue dot. Funny that every time I look at I recall Carl Sagan.
7. Are you superstitious?
I find no reason to be.
8. If you could have any job for one day, which one would it be?
Becoming Batman, DCâs universeâs greatest detective.
9. What is the most impactful documentary youâve seen?
Cosmos?
10. What is something youâve always wanted to do but havenât?
Visit CERN.
11. Why havenât you done it?
Lack of financial resources.
My turn to ask the questions.
1- What book would you consider a must-have for everybody?
2- Would you rather visit the past or the future, and why?
3-Who would you consider your greatest idol to be?
4- Powerful quote?
5-An idea you've always wanted to discuss?
6-Have you ever doubted your sanity?
7-How good are your drawing skills, and if theyâre good enough can you provide us with a drawing of yours?
8-Top three goals?
9-If you could visit another planet what would it be, and why?
10-If you could change something in the world, what would it be?
11-How many languages do you speak?
