Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have now left the hospital and have headed home. A new picture released of the couple with their newborn was released. The name of the Prince will be revealed tomorrow.

The name of the baby prince has been announced

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia decided to name their first born “Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil”. The little prince will be known as “Prince Alexander, Duke of Södermanland”.

Alexander [”defending men”, Greek]

Erik [ei “ever, always” and ríkr “ruler”, Old Norse (Germanic), Scandinavian form of Eric], named after Erik Hellqvist, Alexander’s maternal grandfather; Some swedish royals named Erik: e.g. Prince Erik, Duke of Västmanland (*1889), Eric, Duke of Södermanland (* 1282) and King Erik IX of Sweden (* c. 1155)   

Hubertus [PRONOUNCED: huy-BER-təs, Latinized form of Hubert, “bright heart”], named after his paternal grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf, whose full name is Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus.

Bertil [Scandinavian form of the german Berthold, “bright ruler”], named after Prince Bertil (*1912), Duke of  Halland (the beloved “uncle” of Prince Carl Philip, Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine). He was the paternal uncle of King Carl XVI and died in 1997.    

Södermanland is on the south eastern coast of Sweden. It borders Östergötland, Närke, Västmanland and Uppland. Södermanland has about 1,200,000 inhabitants [in 2009]. Source. Wikipedia.

11 April, 2016 | Prince Daniel talks about what he and Crown Princess Victoria have been doing in the past months, the biggest change that came with Prince Oscar’s birth, the reaction of Princess Estelle on her brother’s birth and who Prince Oscar looks more like.

The Prince also said he was definitely taking his paternity leave.

I think Oscar is a combination of both of us [Crown Princess Victoria and him]. But I hope that there will be more and more of mom on him to come. Estelle is very proud of being a big sister, she and Oscar are very similar to each other.

A new video in which Crown Princess Victoria tells how the Crown Princess Couple Foundation, by recognizing good initiative, can help to give children a positive future.

On April 11-13 Prince Daniel will make his first official visit abroad without Crown Princess Victoria. He’ll visit Berlin and Munich in Germany. On the first day he’ll open an exhibition about Swedish Children books. The other days he’ll take part in workshops about entrepreneurship.

Today, Prince Daniel and inspirers of Prince Daniel’s Fellowship were in Norrköping to talk entrepreneurship with young people from Kungsgård School and Campus Norrköping. The Prince gave a lecture and in the afternoon he joined for round-table conversations with students.

Prince Daniel’s Fellowship and entrepreneurship program aims to inspire young people to become entrepreneurs and to support a number of companies through mentoring.

Crown Princess Victoria will officially return back to work on June 1. She will join her father for a council meeting at the Royal Palace. 

Note that the Crown Princess has already undertaken her first official engagement after the birth of Oscar as she attended a seminar a couple of days ago. Victoria will also join in the birthday festivities of her father on April 30 and she is also expected to participate in the State Visit from Chile to Sweden on May 10-12.

The Crown Princess family has spent the weekend on Öland. Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle were spotted golfing while Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Oscar cheered from the sideline.

Sofia & Carl Philip have moved to Crown Princess Victoria’s old apartment at Drottningholm Palace due to security concerns. The court spokesperson would not give a reason, only saying that security would be easier at Drottningholm Palace.
