For @the-connor-murphy-project and anyone else interested, I thought I’d share some details about Connor that were in the DC production of Dear Evan Hansen and were cut when it moved to NYC:

When Connor was little, he loved jokes and had a million different answers to “Why did the chicken cross the road”. One day he said, “Why did the duck cross the road? Because he wanted to prove he wasn’t chicken.”

His behavior began to change in 6th grade - his parents started getting phone calls from his teachers about him being bullied, skipping classes, and going to school smelling like cigarettes.

His parents were advised to put him on antidepressants, and they did until the meds stopped working.

He had a sign on his bedroom door that said “Stay Out - Private Property” and wouldn’t let anyone inside.
