people did the same when midnights came out because it wasn't the things that kept them awake at night but it took a while for people to realize it's what kept taylor up and it's her midnights and it's the emotions in the songs that make it relatable and applicable to our own sleepless nights. and now showgirl.. people not wanting to understand that taylor is the showgirl. she wrote and recorded this album while on tour and this is her life during this time

“she’s using internet slang and it’s such a step down lyrically” internet slang is used in cancelled and eldest daughter, which are commenting on the state of the internet today and how people crave being apathetic and judgmental above all else - the word choice is on purpose.

“that’s not what she meant it’s just a bad lyric!” no it’s not. the curtains aren’t just blue. instead of immediately rejecting something that doesn’t make sense to you as “bad” let’s perhaps think WHY it’s being used. i would at least expect fans who respect her talent to TRY to understand what she meant.
