me: i’m fine

I can’t believe people talk so much shit about dragon age 2 when it was made in only 16 months which is not even remotely close to the average time needed to make a video game of this scale, especially one that’s the continuation of a massively critically acclaimed, deep lore, fantasy game. Despite that, it manages to create actually morally grey situations that are debated by fans more than events in any other dragon age game, many fan favourite complex characters who defy stereotypes and reflect the themes of the story, a more relatable protagonist not a savior of the universe who you really feel for and can easily connect to despite being very different depending on your choices, gameplay that is fun and not nearly as useless as people make it out to be, a story that works well on its own and is still relevant today by having refuges of war, conflicts between historically opposing groups, the morality of choosing a side and the tragedy of trying your best while the world and specifically your home crumbles down around you no matter what you do because in the end you cannot change the world. And while I don’t love the binary option of good, funny and direct personality or rivalry vs friendship romance I like the first because once you establish a basic personality the banter adapts to that which makes Hawke less flat and more defined (also your personality can change between acts aka how real life happens) and i can appreciate the second for defying the video game formula of “if I click on enough of the stuff you like you’ll fall in love with me”. Also while the maps and the design for Kirkwall are mostly dreadful, Kirkwall still manages to be a city with character that through its smaller story sets up Inquisition pretty damn well.

simultaneously adorable and terrifying. All that mass and power….

There might be hope for our oceans, thanks to one clumsy moment in a coral tank.
It typically takes coral 25 to 75 years to reach sexual maturity. With a new coral fragmentation method, it takes just 3.

Somebody finally put this into words
This is the most real and relatable thing… Wow.
Tumblr, this isn’t healthy. At best it leads to confusion about boundaries; at worst it leads to abuse.
“I like being by myself and am comfortable in my own company. If you want to spend time with me, spending time with you has to feel better than being by myself. I won’t spend time with you if it makes me feel worse than being by myself.”
What is unhealthy about this? How could it ‘lead to confusion about boundaries/ abuse’? I find it very healthy, and in fact, it’s setting excellent boundaries: “If being with you makes me feel worse than not being with you, then I choose feeling better and not being with you.”
Here’s a funny thing. This isn’t the first person I’ve seen reacting negatively to a post where someone points out that there’s nothing wrong with being alone / actively choosing to be alone / not chasing relationships just because ‘you gotta’ or ‘everyone else is having one.’ I can’t find the other post right now, but it was advising people to become more comfortable with doing things by themselves, when not in a relationship (going to the restaurant, to the theater, etc). And in comes some twit, with ‘hurr durr, an asocial serial-killer wrote this.’
[inert GIF of someone flipping the bird here]
I’ve noticed that a hell of a lot of people feel actively threatened by the existence of highly introverted people, who don’t have problems with being alone and who might actually prefer that state of being. Even when all we’re doing is existing and minding our own lives, with little to no fuss.
I don’t know how to put this more clearly than the fact that there’s absolutely nothing healthy about someone going against their own nature, just because ‘society says so-and-so.’ And this can range from getting involved in a relationship one isn’t actually interested in, just because people are pressuring one for being ‘lonely’, all the way to having unwanted children, just because ‘everyone else is doing it’, instead of any genuine desire to be a parent.
Never go against your own nature, no matter what your culture, society, religion, family or any outside force would say. Be daringly you.
You’ve rescued me again, Doctor Ziegler! for lovely @glassrunner
Things I like about this decal on a restaurant window: -the insane orange waiter -that he’s carrying his plates in the air like a strongman -the couple looks like this isn’t the first time he’s done this, but it’s easier to just let it happen at this point. -the sign says PASTA as if he’s screaming it like a frankenstein -but he’s holding a plate of an entire chicken and a plate of wine glasses -there’s three wine glasses -one’s for him.
This makes me laugh to the point of tears every time I see it
