during lunch break I let it slip that my dream pet is a bearded dragon. turns out my coworker not only has a bearded dragon, she's looking for a new home for it. she offered me a bearded dragon. an exotic lizard. just like that. I said I'm interested but also I'll need to figure out the logistics.
I hate having to explain tomato allergy to people because it sounds fake. “Cooked tomatoes are totally fine but I’m allergic to raw ones”. Not how people think food allergies work. But exactly how tomato allergy works
If people thought about it, the idea of "I'm allerigic to something in the uncooked ingredient, but cooking it denatures the thing and makes it inert" is pretty straightforward. Unfortunately. Too far outside how typical food allergies work.

if youre not in school anymore and are looking for ways to get out of the house more go to the nearest "hip" coffee shop you can that has a bulletin board with flyers on it for local events and attend any and all the ones youre able to ESPECIALLY if they're free. this is the only actionable advice that has worked for me
People really need to take a wider view of this paranoia about age gaps and realise this is how we lose the ability to build communities. You need to be able to realise that people can have things in common with you even if they grew up in a different time/place/culture. You also need to realise you can build communities with people who don’t have obvious things in common with you, that people can have the same goals and needs as you even if in most ways they’re very unlike you. Now, more than ever, we need to be able to work together to have any chance to stand ip against the few who have so, so much more power, money and influence than any of us do individually. We need to form communities that reach across age (and class and race and sexuality and so on…).
School of Dragons getting shut down might have ironically been the best thing to happen to it, because naturally it got picked up by fans who made a functioning emulator almost immediately and, since the game is now in the hands of the people, it's also possible to make your own skins. aka you can now play as your old highschool dragon OCs

I did play the game a little bit as a kid (before the 2nd movie even released I think?), but all I remember is that I was super disappointed that my computer couldn't run it properly. It was so laggy. It's grown a lot since then, and I think it's a much better game now. Also the worldbuilding implications are interesting. It's like this alternate universe where everything is canon and also the dragons never disappeared. Which I like, personally. And also money isn't real. Everything is free lmao. Capitalism is defeated. Kinda weird that Stoick is dead though. He was there last time I visited and now he's the only one who's gone for good. Sadge.
