Iâve literally only gained weight from my eating disorder... and itâs been 4 years

When I say âI hate my bodyâ I donât mean âoh Iâm a little insecure about my bellyâ or âI could lose a few poundsâ I mean I have physically repulsed by it. Itâs horrifying and upsetting to see. I wanna crawl out of my skin.

What my ED-Ana journey looks like:
Iâm making it clear this is not pro, not tips, or what I think is right. I want to show that every ED looks different and this is how I deal with mine. Iâm an 18 year old college student,for reference.
Restricting
My daily restriction consists of no more then 500 calories. Iâm the kind of Ana that choosesïżŒ to eat clean healthy food. I donât eat whatever I want, I donât eat more then 30g of carbs. I eat mostly protein shakes and one, maybe two whole meals. Each meal is under 200 calories. I take a lot of vitamins and I choose to eat something throughout the day. I drink multiple cold brew coffees for energy and to help feel full. I donât ever bing. I allow a âcheatâ day which stays under 500 calories but does not focus on healthy foods. Water is key, I stay away from sugar and soda. I opt for La Croix or tea. Always small meals, avoid lactose, pasta or like items, and fats. No fasting, water diets, or any like dieting tricks.
Exercise
I work out 7 days a week for a minimum of 60-70 minutes and no more then 90. I start with 30-45 minutes of strength training. I focus on one muscle group a day to avoid over training. I then do 30+ minutes of cardio. I switch between running, elliptical, and power incline walking. This also helps avoid injury and over training. Aside from the time, I shoot for 450-500 calories burned each day from exercise. My daily caloric burn usually stays under 2,200. I also like to end the day with a 25-30 minute easy outdoor walk. I fule with a tablespoon of peanut butter and half a protein drink before my workouts to ensure I have enough energy. I try to work out before 11am as well. I always finish my workout with a protein shake to help rebuild my muscles. I also only weigh myself once a week.
My reasoning
As most ED or Anas know, itâs not a life choiceïżŒ to do what I do. Itâs a mental struggle and I am aware the risks. This is why I try to eat good foods and take vitamins to make sure I stay as healthy as I can while doing this. I know recovery is an option and will seek help when needed. I do this not just for the body but because mentally I canât stop. I donât push my ways on others nor promote this life style but I do understand it.
What helps?
Reading other peopleâs stories, watching food YouTube videos, lots of water. I enjoy exercise which helps make it not a chore. I understand itâs an issue and donât deny it, but stay safe. Focus on what I can control like food intake and calorie burn but not on weight fluctuations or measurements. Reward with âcheatâ foods on good days to maintain some positive food mentality. Donât hate all food, just the bad kinds and calories. Lastly, listen to my body and know when Iâm pushing to hard or need a small, whole food snack.
