AN: I’m soooooo sorry! Life got a little complex there for a bit but we’re back on track! Enjoy the chapter guys!
Harry’s POV
“Shopping?” I ask, now deeply confused. We’ve just run away from hers and my security. We’re alone in one of the most busy places in the world and she wants to shop. “What?”
She looks at me with wide eyes, as if I’m the idiot. Then she starts to peruse the shelves, looking through the sweatshirts. Then it hits me. “Never mind, I understand.”
“Took you long enough.” She says with a smirk.
Our security will be looking for us wearing the clothes we’re in. We have to change so at least we’ll be more difficult to spot.
She pulls out a black sweatshirt with a huge Minnie Mouse on it, it’s plain but she’ll blend right in. And even though I’m loathe to have her cover up I understand the necessity. I find a simple long sleeved t and bring it over. She frowns. “What?”
“You can’t wear that over your shirt.”
“I’ll just take off my shirt and put it in your purse.” She opens her mouth as if to argue but then closes it quickly.
“Fine. One last thing we need.” She strolls through the store. “Hats.”
She starts riffling through the ears and I finally put my foot down. “I think wearing those ears will make us more conspicuous.”
“Really?” She asks, hands planted on her hips. “Look around.”
I do and I notice that most people are actually wearing these silly things. She sighs, “but if you’re feeling that insecure, here’s a baseball cap.”
I catch the hastily thrown hat, “Thank you.” And then I notice that it too has ears. “Unbelievable.”
“Alright, let’s check out.” Kennedy is flying through the store it really is too difficult to keep up. The woman is on a mission and I’m just along for the ride.
The store clerk about has a heart attack when she notices the two of us, she just keeps pointing and staring, “You’re..you are-you’re. Oh my god.”
Kennedy smiles, “Hello. We just need these quick things, no need for a bag.”
“You’re not paying.” I reach to grab my wallet.
She holds up a hand, “My country, my bill.” The clerk is still looking mesmerized but takes Kennedy’s cash anyways. “Besides, we probably broke the law running away from my security detail.”
“Great.”
I look up at the clerk who is handing us the merchandise with shaking hands. Kennedy throws on the sweatshirt and pulls her hair into a low bun. If I wasn’t looking for the first lady I probably wouldn’t guess that it was her, “If people come looking for us please tell them that we went to Pirates of the Caribbean.”
She nods mutely. “Thank you we really appreciate it.”
I grab Kennedy’s hand and we walk out of the store the clerk’s belated, “I voted for your dad!” filling our ears.
In our new disguises, I feel invincible, I want to hold her hand, walk arm in arm, do something. But I check myself. We are still in public and we’re both leaving tomorrow. The last thing we need is concrete evidence of a romance following us.
“So I take it we’re not going to Pirates of the Caribbean?”
“You would be correct.” I let the silence drag on for a few minutes.
Finally she breaks, “Please tell me where we’re going.”
I drag her around the park knowing that we’re on borrowed time so we quickly go through the attractions, hitting the ones that I know I want to see, the Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World and the teacups. We have a couple close calls with security but we’ve been lucky.
I can feel them getting closer though, maybe it’s some 6th sense but I just have a bad feeling.
We’re walking through Cinderella’s castle towards the front of the park when Kennedy’s mobile rings. “It’s Anna. Should I answer it?”
I nod, it was fun while it lasted.
“Hello?” We stop with the castle looming large behind us. “Anna? I can’t hear you.”
I look at her confused. “Huh. She hung up.”
“Odd.” We’ve reached a cross roads, either go down the Main Street towards the exit or head over to Fantasyland. “Maybe it’s time to turn in.”
Kennedy glances to the exit with a frown. She isn’t ready to leave yet. And I refuse to be the one to upset her. “Wait.”
“What?” She asks.
“Excuse me, sir?” I approach a young man with his girlfriend. He turns and cocks his head as if he should recognize me, but he can’t remember from where. “Would you take a picture for me please?”
He nods, “Sure man.”
I hand in my phone then pull Kennedy over, “I don’t know if this is a good idea.”
“It is.” I declare.
The man turns back to us. I watch as realization dawns on his face. He’s definitely recognized Kennedy but blessedly just holds up my mobile.
I settle my hand around her waist pulling her close to me. I’m genuinely smiling when she relaxes into me, placing her hand on my chest. On a whim I kiss the top of her head then retrieve my camera. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Miss Randolph, thank you for what you do.”
She blinks sharply, “What?”
“My little boy he wants to be an author, because of your reading initiative and my daughter wants to be a lawyer because that’s what you do. So thank you.” I look over at Kennedy who looks gobsmacked. The man shakes her hand.
Finally she smiles, “Trust me, it’s an honor. Have a good night.”
“It’s good to see you happy too.” He adds and I feel like that his promise to keep our secret. I’m touched and incredibly thankful.
I pull Kennedy along but we start fighting against crowds pouring into the square. “What’s going on?”
“Fireworks.” She responds. “Follow me, I have an idea.”
We break through the crowd in Tomorrowland outside of an attraction called the PeopleMover. “What’s this?”
She smiles, “It might not be showy, it might not be fancy but it’s a classic.” She explains as we step onto an escalator.
“Is it a tram?”
“Even better. It’s the way of the future.” She says in exaggeration.
We sit down in one of the rows on the long trains. There’s commotion near the entrance to the ride. The two of us turn, “Oh no.”
Paul and one of my RPOs is there and they spot us. We’re already in the vehicle so there’s no where to go. Kennedy sighs, “Fucking hell.”
“Miss Randolph,” Paul practically shouts. “Mind if we join you?”
Kennedy huffs and just turns around. Paul and my RPO climb into the row directly behind us. Their door slides shut and the train keeps moving. I glance at Kennedy who has a smirk dying to be a flown blown smile. “What are you smiling about?”
She just shakes her head tightly.
Then I notice that we speed up but behind us our chaperones haven’t.
It’s actually more than one train.
Paul is yelling something angry and incomprehensible while Kennedy turns around and gives a little wave, laughing.
I sit back, amazed. “I don’t know if I should be impressed or fear you.”
“Maybe a little of both.”
The PeopleMover is just that, a tram that is taking us around the Tomorrowland portion of the park, it ducks in and out of the attractions while explaining Walt’s dreams of the future. Kennedy was right, maybe not flashy but definitely a classic.
Eventually Kennedy rests her head against my shoulder, I saddle closer, letting my arm drape around her shoulders once again. It feels comfortable, right. I place a kiss on her forehead.
The tram turns a corner and the castle comes into view just as the fireworks begin. Kennedy gasps full of awe and wonder. I have to admit that I’m moved as well. It’s like something out of a movie.
I glance down and see her face illuminated by the soft blues and reds of the fireworks, her eyes reflecting the sparks. Slowly, I tilt her chin up. I lean down and place a kiss on her lips. It’s chaste, innocent and her head tips back with a sigh.
She leans closer placing a cool hand on my cheek as the ride goes back into a tunnel.
I’m lost in her sweet spell, enjoying the soft, languid press of her lips against mine. She’s soft and warm and in my arms. It’s just about perfect.
I pull back ready to say that when the tram lurches then comes to a stop. “What the-.”
The lights flick on immediately then a robotic comes over the PA system, “We’re currently experiencing difficulties, please remain seated until a ride host comes to assist you.”
“It’s broken.” I say in disbelief. Then look at Kennedy who doesn’t look that surprised. “Don’t tell me you planned this as well.”
She shrugs, “I heard that sometimes it happened with older rides.”
I pull her close to press another kiss on her lips, “God, you’re diabolical and it’s great.”
“I think diabolical may be pushing it.”
I shake my head, “Not at all, own it.”
We sit in comfortable silence until an employee comes around. The young woman looks like she’s been working way too many hours with way too many annoying people, but she perks up when she sees us. “Oh, Miss Randolph! There was a rumor going around that you were here. It’s so good to see you. My mom is a huge fan.”
“Oh, thank you.” Kennedy glances back. “Would you like a picture?”
“Yes!”
The employee unlocks our tram and we get out, Kennedy poses for a quick picture with the woman. She leads us through the “backstage” area of the ride and then to the exit. Kennedy pauses. “If you could unload those two men last I would really appreciate it. We’re trying to enjoy a quiet evening.”
“I completely understand.”
We say our thanks then step back into the public area.
“I think it’s time to call it a night.”
She nods, “You’re right.” She steps closer to me and entwines her hands with mine. “Your room or mine?”
I swallow thickly. Sure, a part of me wanted this to happen, anticipated it happening but now that she’s said it my brain has gone haywire. She’s still staring at me with an expectant gaze. Focus Wales.
“Mine.” I manage to say gruffly.
She smiles then walks away dragging me along by the hand.
The fireworks are still going off behind us as we fight through the crowd. I keep her hand firmly in mine my eyes trained on her. There’s no way I’m losing the First Lady tonight.
You don’t want to lose her ever.
I shake my head, needing to get errant thoughts like that out. There isn’t going to be anything past tonight at least not without a major shift in her life. I just need to enjoy tonight and her for what it is.
On the short journey back to the hotel we keep a respectable distance between the two of us very aware of all the people around us. I do stay close though, wanting to keep potential strangers at a distance.
Once we make it up to our private floor I grab her hand in mine and tug her close.
In my suite it takes all of my self-control to not immediately pull her into my arms. She’s standing in the center of the space, looking slightly uncomfortable, fidgeting with the strap of her bag. I walk over to the bar to grab wine for us.
“I don’t want to drink.” She states, her voice and intention clear.
My heart pounds.
I turn back to her smiling ruefully, “Truth be told don’t want to either. But there is one thing we have to do.”
Her brows furrow.
“Call Anna let her know you’re back here and safe.”
“Good point.” She nods, fishing out her mobile, throwing my extra shirt on the couch. “Am I safe though?”
Her eyes sparkle with mischief. I have the distinct feeling that she doesn’t care about being safe right now. “As safe as you want to be.”
“How can you read me so well?” She asks in wonder.
I shrug, knowing there’s no good answer. It’s something that’s bothered me as well. I’ve always been attuned to her, since the beginning. I wish I could say it’s something I have with everyone but it’s never been like this.
She checks in with her people and I do the same, instructing that I shouldn’t be disturbed for the evening.
With that done I look at her, she’s standing near the windows looking out at the wide expanse of the lagoon. “Kennedy?”
She turns so that I can see her profile. God, she’s beautiful. Slowly she removes her mouse ears, letting them fall to the floor. Then she turns fully to me. I’m braced, breathing heavily, anticipating her coming into my arms.
She doesn’t though. Instead she slowly walks away from me towards my bedroom. I remember that our suites are essentially the same so she knows. I watch transfixed as Kennedy, the most beguiling, confusing and beautiful woman I’ve met saunter towards my bedroom. Se pauses at the double French doors and looks over her shoulder at me.
Her smile is one full of erotic promise. It’s confident, sexy and bloody hell, all for me.
I take a deep breath and follow her into the room.
In an effort to give you guys a chapter that I’m happy with and that y’all will enjoy. I won’t be updating tonight. I really did try to make it work but I just can’t get it right tonight.
That being said, 100% Chapter 15 will be posted Friday.
Again, I’m sooooo sorry. Thanks for your patience!
AN: Hello my lovely readers! Thank you for the continuous feedback, it really does make my day...Enjoy the new chapter!
FLOTUS—POV
In the morning I make a concerted effort to go about my day as normal. I pretend that mere hours before Harry didn’t have me pinned to a wall, doing…well I can vividly remember what he did.
The biggest issue is that I want to do it again.
Anna either can’t see something is amiss or I’ve successfully hidden it but I feel like I have a huge sign on my forehead that reads ‘Prince Harry gave me the most spectacular orgasm last night.’
Additionally, I avoid Paul. He’s a hulking shadow behind me at all times today, but I don’t acknowledge him. His presence feels even more overbearing than usual.
He hasn’t had the guts to address what he witnessed in the hall last night. Part of me wants him to just so I have an excuse to rant and rave. Really, I should get the asshole fired.
After the Closing Ceremony I’m waiting for my SUV in a secured area of the amphitheater. Anna is standing next to me putting finishing touches on press releases and social media posts. My hand is itching to pull out my phone. I want to talk to Harry, see if we could meet up sometime this evening.
There’s commotion at the other end of the hall.
Speak of the devil.
Harry emerges with Ed and his security team. He’s dressed in a blue suit, face still flushed with the excitement of the day. Our eyes lock and immediately blush. My stomach knots remembering the feel of his hands, his lips…whoa I’ve got to pull myself together.
Harry unabashedly lets his gaze sweep over my body, a confident perusal. He smiles slowly, predatorially. Shit. I really need to get myself together.
Anna’s discreet voice reaches my ear, “What in ever-loving hell is that about?”
I shake my head, “You don’t want to know.”
“Oh, but I really think I do.” She says just as Harry stops in front of us.
“Miss Randolph.”
“Your Royal Highness.”
We pause for a moment both just taking one another in. Up close I can see the faint signs of fatigue, he has had a busy week, but I also see the excitement in his eyes. He’s doing what he loves, no doubt making the exhaustion worth it.
I very much try not to blush.
Someone coughs near us, maybe Ed.
Harry blinks but then focuses back on me, “Myself and a few others are going into the park this evening. Interested?”
“The park?” I ask stupidly.
“Magic Kingdom. It does feel a bit sacrilege to be this close and not go. Right?”
Before I know it, I’m nodding my head.
“8ish?”
“Sounds good.”
After a quick nap and light dinner at the hotel Anna finally pounces. “Okay, what’s going on? The two of you barely see each other all day but then when you do it’s all stars and hearts. What happened?”
“Nothing.” I insist.
“Bullshit.”
I pause. Then sigh, if I can’t talk to her about it I can’t tell anyone else.
“You have to stay silent until I finish.”
“Understood.”
I take a deep breath then explain what happened last night right up to our hot and heavy session against the door. When I finish I peek up at Anna. She’s staring at me impassively, her calm mask firmly in place.
She nods, “You deserve it. Kennedy, you are only human and he is I would imagine very hard to resist.”
I hold up a finger, “There’s a little more.”
“Oh?”
“Paul kind of, maybe but definitely did catch us.”
“What do you mean by ‘catch us’?” Her words are still slow and calm.
I just wince.
“Oh fuck.”
“My thoughts exactly.” I start pacing. “He hasn’t said anything today…”
“He should be fired. Spying on an intimate moment like that.” Anna goes to reach for her phone.
I look at her panicked, “What are you doing?”
“I’m calling personnel. He’ll be on a plane back to whatever pit he emerged from never to hassle us again.”
“You can’t do that.” She looks at me puzzled. “To get him terminated you’ll have to explain why which would make it back to Jenkins and then get back to my father.”
Which is the worst case scenario, nuclear level disaster. I can only imagine the way that phone call would go and it wouldn’t be fucking pretty.
Anna has a hand pressed thoughtfully to her chin. She taps her chin then frowns, that’s never good. “What?”
“My instinct tells me that Jenkins already knows.”
“Why on earth would you say that?” Then it dawns on me: Paul is loyal to Jenkins so Jenkins definitely knows. Shit. I sigh. “I suppose there’s a silver lining.”
“There is?”
“Jenkins plays the long game. There’s no way he would turn over information like this now. He’ll sit on it for a bit.” I collapse into the armchair. “So I’ll have time to enjoy my life before my father goes ballistic and tries to ground me.”
Anna laughs then apologizes.
I laugh too. It really is absurd. I’m an adult, a representative of the most powerful nation in the world and I’m being policed like a teenager.
“On another note, the Secret Service has briefed and prepared the visit to the park this evening.”
“Good. You’re coming right?” She opens her mouth to protest. “You’re coming.”
And before she can argue there’s a knock on the door followed by the smug visage of Paul appearing. Anna and I exchange disgusted looks. “What?”
“Miss Randolph, I would like to discuss your plans for this evening.”
“What about them?” I absentmindedly scroll through my phone.
“Unfortunately, we cannot approve the plans.”
I raise my brow, “Funny. Because my Chief-of-Staff just told me that the Secret Service approved it.”
“That is correct, but we’ve decided it would be best if you remained in your hotel suite this evening.”
I put my phone down gently even though I want to smash it. The trickle of information he’s passing out like alms is grating on my nerves. “Who is ‘we’?”
“The President’s Chief-of-Staff, Miss.”
Anna and I exchange a look.
I fold my arms over my chest, making my displeasure well known. “But not the President.”
“Correct, Miss. However, the Chief-”
I stand, “In that case. I will be going. Feel free to stay here.” I start to walk to my bedroom.
“Miss Randolph, after what happened last night. It would be best to not ‘tempt fate’ We’re concerned about negative publicity.”
I don’t appreciate his oblique reference to what happened last night. I especially don’t appreciate Jenkins essentially holding me hostage on no authority but his own. I turn to face Paul head on. “Oh, are you planning on spying during an intimate moment again? Is that what you mean?”
“Miss-.”
“Save your apology, I’m sure that’s what you were about to say.” I glare, focusing all my hate and frustration on this pathetic excuse of a human. “Let me repeat myself, ‘Go fuck yourself.’”
And I go into my bedroom I can just barely hear Anna escorting Paul out, sarcasm dripping from her polite words.
Thirty minutes later I re-emerge dressed for a casual evening at the Happies Place on Earth. I grab a pair of highwaisted denim shorts with a band of lace around the hem. I pair it with an orange knit crop-top that has a geometric band around the bottom. On a whim I grab my wedge sneakers.
When I walk back out Anna has quickly changed as well, opting for a crisp pair of linen shorts and blouse instead of her usual suit. “Shall we?”
She nods.
When I step out into the hall I can sense the tension. My security team is looking anywhere but at me. “What’s going on?” The men exchange a glance but don’t offer an explanation. This really can’t be good. I step closer to Mitch, the de facto head of my detail. “Is something wrong?”
“Paul expressed his displeasure with your agenda this evening.” He says stoically.
I roll my eyes, “You still have approval from the Director, right?” He nods, yet hesitates. “I’m sensing a ‘but’.”
“He’s working on subverting that approval.”
I should probably pick my battles, but I’m done. Paul is overreacting. I’ve purported myself appropriately in public the last few days, per my father’s request. What I do in private will not dictate what I’m allowed to do in public. Besides, what could be more wholesome and American than a trip to Disney World?
“Then perhaps we should move quickly.” I suggest.
Mitch blinks, surprised but then his lips quick into a smile. “Yes Miss.”
We meet Harry in the lobby, Ed and Lieutenant Lovell area also waiting for us. Harry stands when he sees me, “You were almost late.”
“Yes, but we’re here now. Mr. Fox. Lieutenant Lovell.” I place a chaste kiss on Harry’s cheek. “Let’s get a move on.”
“In a rush?” He asks suspiciously.
“Maybe I’m just excited.” I counter then flash him a warm smile. “Let’s have fun tonight.”
He stares down at me, his gaze searching for something. Finally after a beat or two he smiles. “That’s my plan.” And as he walks past me he squeezes my hand.
Instead of taking the monorail we’re escorted into a dark SUV and taken into a back entrance to the park, probably to avoid a crush of people. Oddly our little group is silent as we travel. Part of me is actually engrossed seeing behind the scenes at the park while the other part is very conscious of Harry sitting just feet away.
I wish we were closer, much closer. I glance over at him and he’s watching me, his eyes betraying a host of inappropriate thoughts. Glad to see the feeling is mutual at least.
It’s amazing how seamlessly the staff area of the Magic Kingdom morphs into the park. In one moment we’re surrounded by concrete and headless cartoon characters the next we’re on the Main Street U.S.A. Disney’s Victorian re-creation of Americana.
And there are people everywhere.
Since it’s well past sunset I have to forego my sunglasses. The good news is that people rarely notice famous people in places they aren’t expected. Families don’t come to Magic Kingdom looking for the First Lady or Prince Harry so their minds rarely connect the dots.
I’m praying that holds true tonight.
We melt into the crowds, our security teams forming a tight but what appears as casual barrier around us. With their casual clothes they can almost pass as tourists. Of course if you look hard enough you would notice the ear pieces and the tell-tale bulges of their weapons.
“Where to first?” I ask.
Harry shrugs, “It’s been so long.”
I decide to give him the whirlwind Disney experience. We don’t have much time, but it must be enough to hit the high points. “Cinderella’s castle it is.”
I lead our little group with Harry falling into step beside me. We move with ease, most people not noticing us.
We pause in front of Cinderella castle. I turn to him as he stares up at the picturesque building. “Now, I know you have a real castle but this one is still something special. You have to admit.”
He taps his chin with his finger, thinking and staring at the building. “It’s kind of small.” I punch him in the shoulder. “Ouch!”
I glare at him but see him smirking. Damn man was being facetious. “Seriously, it’s amazing right?”
He nods, then spins around to take in the whole view with the midway behind us. “It really is. I remember this feeling, like there’s no other place like this in the world.”
I agree and we keep walking, taking a left towards Liberty Square, the colonial themed section of the park. Vaguely I can hear our friends chatting behind us.
“Do you think adult Harry will enjoy this as much as little Harry?” I ask.
“Adult Harry is definitely enjoying it so far, company especially.” He pauses then bumps his hip against mine. “We can talk about little Harry later.” He winks and I can’t help but laugh.
I roll my eyes, “You’re lucky I know you’re joking with those cheesy pick-up lines or else it would be very creepy. A turnoff even.”
“I know, I know. But it made you laugh.”
“It did.”
He swings an arm around my shoulder pulling me close so he can speak softly, “And I do love hearing you laugh.”
I let myself relax for a moment, just enjoying his arm around me, the feeling of security and comfort. His muscles gently flex and I resist the urge to huddle closer.
There’s a light cough. And I know it’s Anna’s polite way of censoring us.
Carefully, Harry retrieves his arm. It’s awkward for a moment until Harry exclaims, “Well look who it is!” He’s pointing at everyone’s least favorite attraction, The Hall of Presidents. And there’s a cardboard cutout of my father outside of it. “Let’s take a picture.”
“Harry…” I begin to complain.
“Relax, I don’t want to sit through it, just a quick picture.” I remain firmly planted a few feet away from the cutout, which Harry stands next to.
This causes our security details to separate slightly, limiting how much they can blend in. People start noticing. I can feel the familiar prickle of the stares. Anna looks at me, wondering what the move is. She could intervene but it would attract much more attention.
I step closer and a triumphant smile lights Harry’s face. “Sure, on one condition.”
“Anything.”
“We take a selfie.” I watch as his face goes from triumphant and flirtatious to annoyed.
He shakes his head, “Absolutely not. I hate selfies.”
“Oh, you do?” I lift my hand to my face. “I had no idea.”
Harry sighs, “Fine. You win this round.” I nod confidently then follow Harry as we continue our walk. “Remember though, what goes around comes around.”
Belatedly I realize that Harry is now confidently leading the way through liberty square into the western themed area. “Where are we going? And more importantly how do you know where you’re going?”
Harry doesn’t answer he just smirks.
“Really?”
We keep walking and Harry stays silent. Finally he stops on a bridge and turns to the attraction. “Oh no.” I say adamantly then cross my arms.
“Come on, it was my favorite when I was younger.”
“But I would get wet.” Harry just raises his brow, and I know he wants to make a double entendre. “You know what I meant.”
I can only imagine the photos that could come from that opportunity. Or from people trying to purchase the ride photo.
“It’s just a little water.” He then turns to the rest of the group. “Ed? Anna? Lovell? You win?”
“Hell yeah.” Lovell responds, then looks at Anna. “You can sit with me.”
Ed jumps in then, “I’ll go as well.”
“This is peer pressure.” I declare, but no one seems sympathetic to my cause. I realize that this is a losing battle. I eye the illuminated faux mountain warily, the water rushing over the edge. “Fine.”
Harry lets out an excited yelp, then practically drags me toward the line.
It’s not a long wait, luckily, probably because it’s dark and starting to get just a little chilly. We wait in line, people mostly keeping to themselves instead of bothering us. I’m thankful for it. It makes it much easier to enjoy this time.
When we get towards the front I hear Anna curse. I look toward her panicked, she’s not one to curse in public at least not loud enough for people to hear. Slowly I turn towards her. Harry is trying not to look like he’s paying attention. “Anna, what’s wrong?”
“Paul’s coming.”
“What?”
Anna’s face doesn’t show any emotion, but I know the idea of Paul coming here makes her just as angry as me. “He revoked approval for your outing. He’s going to escort you back to the Resort.”
As soon as she finishes Mitch speaks, “My apologies Miss, but once the ride is over we will be escorting you back to your accommodations.”
Frustration threatens to overwhelm me. It feels like I’m a child, but I think I even had more freedom then. I glance around and notice that Harry, Ed and Parker are all looking at me with pity. Embarrassment washes over me. I despise this.
Most of all I know if I leave now this will be the last time I see Harry for god knows how long. Our goodbye would be in a crowded theme park, no kiss, no hug, probably not even a sincere farewell. I tell myself that what I’m really going to miss is the potential sex later on, but I know that’s not the
My eyes drift shut as I try to think, try to block out all the excess chatter. A very irresponsible idea takes root in my head. Holy shit, if I do this…
Fuck it, I’m an adult, an educated, independent adult who should be able to do this.
Solemnly I nod towards Mitch, “Understood. So my two agents can ride with us and Harry’s will wait for us at the end of the ride.”
No one objects to that plan. I pull out my phone and quickly type a text to Harry, Do you trust me?
I don’t hear his phone go off which must mean it’s on silent. I look over at Harry ignoring the confused looks from everyone else. He’s looking at me, brows furrowed almost glaring. “You’re just going to leave then?”
I sigh dramatically, “I have to. I wish I didn’t, but I really don’t have a choice.” I pause then hold out my hand palm up. “Let me see your phone, I want to make sure you have my number.”
“I know that I have your number, but that’s not-.”
“Let me check.” I interrupt forcefully. Harry pulls his phone out and I notice Anna watching me warily, she knows something is up. I can see my message on the screen, waiting unopened. I pretend to insert my number then return to the phone. “There.”
Harry’s eyes only widen slightly as he reads the message, but we’re moving in line so it goes unnoticed.
My phone vibrates, Of course. What’s going on?
When the ride stops, grab my hand and run. I send it then put my phone back in the bag, trying to look nonchalant.
He reads the message then silently nods. I can’t tell if he’s nervous or excited.
We continue to get closer to the loading station. “So I guess this is goodbye.” I say, with a tone of sadness in my voice.
“I guess.” Harry sticks out his hand. “It was a pleasure working with you Miss Randolph.”
I shake his hand, “Likewise, your royal highness.”
Anna is still eyeing me suspiciously as I organize everyone in the car.
Harry and I sit in the front row and I slide in first. Parker and one of Harry’s RPOs sit a row behind us, leaving one row empty and then Ed and Anna take the second to last while my agents sit in the back row. Before Anna sits down I call her over and slip her my ring with a smile, “I don’t want to lose it.”
“Kennedy, whatever you think-.”
I hold up my hand, “Enjoy the ride, Anna.”
I settle in next to Harry who looks at me I simply smile back. “You wanted to have fun, right?”
He laughs loudly, “I might regret this.”
“Not a chance.”
“You know that the people in the front get the most wet.” He teases.
“Liar.” But my nerves do twist a little as we go up the first short hill.
When we’re reaching the crest, my hands tighten on the lapbar. Harry chuckles, “Don’t tell me you’re going to scream.”
“I’m not going to-.” I inhale sharply as the boat reaches the peak, but finally see it’s just a little drop. “See not going to scream.”
“Sure you weren’t.” Harry just settles back, arms crossed over the back of his head, “This is going to be good.”
As the ride turns from the happy go lucky cartoons to darker I start to get nervous. I remember what the hill looked like from outside, it actually is fairly tall. I bite my lip, knowing that I’m definitely going to scream. We start up the big hill, which is dark at the end due to the lateness of the evening.
I can hear the screams from the car ahead of us and I flinch.
Harry reaches over and squeezes my hand, “It’s going to be fine.”
“I know, I know. I just can’t help it.”
HE nods, “Come on, put your arms up.”
I agree but only because I need to for my plan. “At the last moment I will.”
At the top of the hill I focus on the castle lit in the distance instead of the darkness below us and the rushing water. When I feel gravity begin to drag us over I throw up my hands as Harry does the same, and I do in fact let out a small scream.
We emerge and I look down, I’m pretty drenched. I’m sure my hair is going to be a mess. I look over at Harry who’s also been splashed, I can see the darker bits of his shirt. He’s smiling like he’s a little kid again. And I can’t help but laugh.
As we make the turn we pass by the pathway which is filled with people standing against the rail. My stomach drops, I know they’re looking for us. Someone in line obviously spotted us, or someone in the station did. They spot us and scream. Harry and I both give a little wave.
He groans, “Well there’s another cover story.”
“At least your hair still looks good.” I remark. Harry nods then reaches out to tuck one of my hairs back but then he stops himself.
“That was close.” He then whispers. “Want to share more of your plan now?”
“Just follow my lead.” Truth is I have no idea whether or not this is going to work.
The car pulls into the station and I notice people have their cameras out. I focus on getting Harry and I out though. I stand casually and Harry does the same. There’s commotion and I realize that the back restraint is stuck, trapping my security.
What a stroke of luck.
“Oh my god!” I exclaim. The rest of the group all stare at me, while the workers are busy with my security. “My ring, it’s gone.” Anna frowns, but I continue. “Please everyone check their rows, I mean while we’re waiting.”
The group does but I shake my head at Harry. As soon as they are all preoccupied, I grab his hand and run.
There’s commotion behind us but I keep moving, dragging Harry along. I’m running as fast I can, weaving in and out of tourists, knowing that the rest of the evening hinges on us putting distance between us and the rest of the group, now.
We blow past Harry’s security who was at the exit and keep moving.
My blood is pumping as I try to think of where to go, really I didn’t think we would get this far.
“Where are we going?” Harry asks as he struggles to stay close.
People turn and frown as we move through the crowds but most people don’t realize its us, they just think we’re annoying tourists.
I spot the little known way to get to Adventureland and we go through the cramped, covered walkway. They would expect us to go as far away from them as we could, so we’re not.
The scenery shifts into the middle-eastern themed, with matching music and deep colors, purples, golds reds. But I’m focused on finding a souvenir shop, which I do.
I pull Harry into the shop and we find a secluded corner. We both lean against the walls breathlessly, he inhales deeply then exhales, “What’s wrong old man?”
He mock glares at me, still huffing and puffing, “You’re unbelievable. Aren’t your security guys like ex-Navy seals?”
“Probably.” I lean back and laugh. “I can’t believe it worked.”
Harry looks around surreptitiously, “Yeah, me either. But now that we’re alone, what’s your plan?”
AN: A bit of a long one today but a good one I think! Enjoy!
Harry’s POV
“Sir, you’re staring.” Ed’s voice is quiet but firm.
I jerk slightly then realize I am in fact staring. I’m staring at her. She arrived about an hour ago and it’s used every ounce of my self-control to not immediately stride over to her. The aquatic stadium was a busy place today, with finals in all of the events.
It meant today was a long day, meeting lots of people. And when Kennedy arrived I got to see just how she would act with the crowd.
She looked beautiful, just like she did this morning. Her hair was pulled back into a low, messy knot, a few wisps framing her face. She looks like spring personified: the yellow dress with the flowers, her sun kissed skin. And her legs, long lean. After this morning I know they’re smooth to the touch as well.
To everyone else though she looks untouchable. I watched as she first arrived. People looked at her with a sort of reverence, respect but all at a distance.
At first, I was afraid she would maintain the distance, put on her old mask of ‘Margaret’. I watched as she slowly brought out her true self. She was laughing and talking with groups of people. She walked with her usual confidence but with a more casual air. It was intoxicating.
Just like I predicted the people responded. Gone were the looks of reverent veneration, replaced with genuine appreciation.
Beyond that she looks happy. And she looks bloody beautiful when she’s happy.
“Harry.” Ed admonishes again.
Slowly I shift my eyes away from her, hopefully no one noticed. “Thanks.”
I focus on the Relay happening in front of me, determined not to keep staring at Kennedy. I can’t fully focus though. I watch but don’t notice much of the outcome. My clapping is half a beat too late.
“I think you could justify going over now.” Ed remarks. He doesn’t have to be specific. I know exactly what and who he’s talking about.
I didn’t tell Ed happened this morning or last night. But the man probably knows more than he lets on. Sometimes he’s too good at his job.
“I’ll make my way over.” I say evenly or at least try to.
I walk over stopping to talk to competitors and families along the way, all the while keeping one eyes on Kennedy.
She’s near one of the starting blocks surrounded by members of the American, British and Estonian teams. Of course I can’t tell what they’re talking about but she has all of the men entranced. They’re all hanging on every word.
I lower my voice, “Those are members of the British team right?”
“Yes. Fergus Hurst and Luke Reeson. I’m not sure where the other members are.”
I nod, knowing that I now have a legitimate reason to approach the group. Our relay had won the gold medal and I have yet to congratulate the team since the medal ceremonies are held later this evening.
Fergus happens to glance up and see me, “Prince Harry!” He exclaims.
Kennedy turns her head and we lock eyes. They’re bright, shining today. She really is happy.
“Mates!” I hold open my arms. “Congratulations!”
We exchange a quick hug. “Well done.”
Fergus smirks, “Thank you. It felt good. Finally win something from those Americans.” His gaze slides over to Kennedy.
She shakes her head with a smile, “Don’t make us challenge you guys to a rematch.”
One of the American swimmers nods then leans close to her, whispering. “They won’t do it. They know it was just a fluke.”
A chorus of ‘ohs’ fills our small circle.
“Maybe Kennedy can be the judge.” Fergus adds, still staring at Kennedy. My neck prickles. I don’t like the way he’s focused on her.
“I would be happy to.” She shrugs. “Of course we would have to keep it open to Estonia as well.”
She gestures to those athletes, “Would you be up for it?”
The four men exchange a look then quickly shake their heads. “We know when to step away.” The man steps forward and clasps Kennedy hands, placing a brief kiss on her knuckles. “It was truly an honor to meet you Miss Randolph.”
Slowly Kennedy turns her hand over and pulls the man close for a kiss on the cheek. “Sincerely, the pleasure was all mine.”
The man is enchanted as he walks away, his skin colored with just the slightest flush. Receiving the full attention of Kennedy is no easy thing. I know first-hand it can be overwhelming.
Now that it’s just Kennedy, the Americans and us Kennedy sighs. “Sorry gentlemen, no rematch.”
“Damn.” Fergus pauses. “We’ve been meaning to ask you something Miss Randolph.”
“Oh?” She turns her head to the GB Relay team.
“Any recommendation for our last two days in beautiful Orlando?”
The question seems casual but I can feel the tension rolling off the American athletes. I know Fergus is a flirt, we’ve run into one another before, but hitting on the First Lady is too far even for him.
She blinks, “Hmm. You know, I would make sure you see Epcot, get a pair of mouse ears.”
It’s a completely appropriate response, but I latch onto the fact that she mentioned Epcot. Was that a veiled reference to last night? God, I really want it to be.
“Standing offer to accompany us.” Fergus continues holding up his hands.
Her mouth parts slightly, no doubt wondering the best way to turn down the offer.
Then Brett Parks, a member of the American team intervenes. He throws a casual arm around her shoulders, “Sorry mate, Miss Randolph already promised to celebrate this evening with our team.”
She pauses for a second probably wondering how appropriate it is for him to have his arm around her. Then I watch as she relaxes and even leans into the veteran. “Yes. I’m sorry.” Then her gaze slides to mine. “I’m sure Prince Harry would be happy to celebrate with you all.”
The guys chuckle, “It would be legendary.”
I nod, “You have my number. Let me know what you guys are getting into this evening.” I say, already knowing that I’ll have some sort of excuse. There’s only one thing on my agenda for tonight and she’s standing there with another man’s arm wrapped around her.
I’m proud enough to admit that I hate the sight, even though I know Parks is a good guy. He was probably acting in her defense but still…she was in my arms hours ago. I want to feel her against mine again.
And I want a minute alone with her now. “How are you enjoying the swimming events?”
Her lips purse slightly, no doubt remembering just what our code stands for. “Immensely. I always loved to swim.”
One of the guys agrees but I stay focused on Kennedy.
I shrug, “I always thought it depended on who was in fact swimming.” I tilt my head to the side. “Right?”
She’s staring at me, smiling now, her eyes sparkling with mischief. I’m sure the same is reflected in my eyes.
Fergus jumps in again, “I don’t think so. Swimming is swimming.”
Kennedy bites her lips, then shakes her head. “I’ll have to disagree with you on that one. It very much depends on just who’s doing the swimming.”
I need to get her alone again. I’m wracking my brain for a way for the two of us to have a private moment.
Ed interrupts then, speaking just slightly louder then he usually does. “Sir, your needed for the interview with the Centennial.”
I nod, knowing that the group has heard Ed’s statement. I also know that I have no interview with that publication scheduled for this afternoon. He’s good. “Of course.” I snap my fingers. “Miss Randolph, isn’t this the joint interview?”
Her eyes widen just slightly, the only thing that betrays her surprise. “Right.” She sighs. “So unfortunately gentlemen, I have to leave you. Team GB, well done today, but don’t get too comfortable at the top of the podium.”
She turns to the Americans and smiles. “Good job guys. I’m so proud of you. Seriously, thank you for the incredible performance.”
All of them smile, another group of people successfully enraptured by her charm. Quickly they pose for a picture before the two of us walk away.
We fall into step with one another, our entourages around us.
“Do you really have plans this evening?” She asks.
“An old friend of mine is coming over for dinner. But you’re more than welcome to come.” I told Lovell that he had to at least have one meal with me while he was here. Unfortunately, it has to be tonight.
“I don’t want to intrude.”
I shrug, “You either come over for dinner or you come over right after. I’m just trying to make the best use of our time.”
“How timesaving of you.”
I chuckle, “I’m just looking for the most efficient way to go swimming again.”
It’s easy to get lost in our report, but I have to remember that we are still in public with plenty of prying eyes and listening ears.
She bites her lip then glances at me, keeping her head straight forward. “How do you feel about skinny dipping?”
Skinny dipping, swimming but without clothes. If she’s speaking literally or within our code I don’t know and I don’t care. I would be in total support of either. A hot flash runs through my body. I can vividly remember the feel of her pressed up against me, only the thin material of her dress separating me from her.
I take a slow breath, making sure my voice is even when I respond. “My favorite type of swimming.” I pause. “Well, beyond the breast stroke that is.”
She gasps and her hand flies to her mouth to cover up the laugh. Paul interjects, “Miss?”
She rolls her eyes, “I’m fine Paul.”
We come to a stop near the exit. “Do you actually have plans with the American athletes?”
“I don’t. I just think Brett very politely saved me from having to turn down Fergus.”
“I knew I always liked him.”
“Jealous?” She asks.
I shrug, choosing to play it cool. “Why would I be jealous of a fling?”
She looks up at me, but I can’t read her. Is she offended? Fine?
For a moment the two of us just stay silent. Then her lips purse. “Good point. Could you send me Fergus’ number then?”
I can’t help but scowl.
A slow, confident smile appears on her face. It’s triumphant and sexy as ever. “That’s what I thought.”
I step closer, wanting her to know that she doesn’t get to win all of our tete-a-tetes. “Don’t pretend that I’m the only one wanting here Kennedy. I had your sweet body pinned against a wall this morning with nothing but a staircase protecting us. And that didn’t stop you from sighing, moaning, wanting.” I pause, letting the image sink in. “I only want more.”
With a quick glance around to ensure there are no prying eyes, I grasp her chin in my hands, forcing her to look up at me. Her eyes have taken on a dreamy quality again. “Tease me sure, I can take it. But don’t push too far. I would hate to deny either of us the pleasure.”
She watches me with hooded eyes, processing my words slowly. Then her tongue peeks out to run over her lips, now glistening. She nods almost imperceptibly, “Understood.”
I brush my thumb over her cheekbone, “Good.”
“I’ll see you tonight.” Then she’s gone.
Once the events for the day are finished it’s late but I still insist that Lovell still come over for dinner and drinks. It’s been too long since I’ve seen him and I refuse to waste this opportunity.
I order steak from room service as well as some beer and whiskey, remembering that those were his favorite. Hopefully that will help the bridge the gap of the last three years.
I’m pacing when there’s a knock on the door. With a deep breath I open it. My old friend is standing there dressed casually again with a slightly nervous look on his face. I see him tense as if to come to attention.
“Parker, mate, come on in.” I interrupt, not wanting any protocol. He flashes an uneasy smile but enters my suite.
I close the door then turn to look at him place his bag on the counter. I can’t help but notice the slight limp I swallow thickly. This could be difficult. “Make yourself at home. The food is on the table.”
He nods but doesn’t move away from the counter.
“Is everything okay?”
He looks over at the food then back at me then winces. Shit, what’s wrong? I panic and am ready to ask again when he speaks.
“I’m a vegetarian.”
“What?” I blurt out.
“I’m a vegetarian now.” He repeats.
“Uh-“
“I know it’s crazy.”
“No, no, not at all.” I assure then approach the room phone my mind racing. “I’ll just order something else.”
“Sorry mate, I don’t mean to put you out.”
“Not a problem.” I look over to the alcohol. “You still drink?”
He glances at me, “Now I’m insulted.” He then chuckles. “Of course I still drink.”
I laugh as well the tension dissipating slightly. “Good.”
“I can still drink you under the table too.” He adds.
I look over to him, standing there with that cocky smirk on his face. He looks exactly has I remember him, short dark hair, tan skin, maybe a little leaner but still Parker.
“You’re staring.”
I let out a sigh of relief, “It’s just really good to see you mate.”
He ducks his head but smiles, “Likewise.” Slowly he walks over to me and we hug tightly. He pats me on the back. “Let’s open that whiskey while we wait on my food.”
We’re catching up, drinking, eating reminiscing. It feels good. Parker and I always got along. I don’t think I realized how big of a void he really left.
“So, what do you think about the Games?”
He sets his bottle down, “I have to say it’s incredible. I had no idea it was going to be this…this…” He’s searching for the right word.
“Big?”
“Good.” He laughs and I just snort.
“Thanks for the confidence.”
“No, no, seriously. Everything has been amazing. I didn’t know there would be so many competitors.”
I nod, “I know. It still surprises me. You should come out for Toronto next year.”
He winces.
“Or not.”
Slowly he puts his bottle down. “This week was a big step for me. Hell, meeting up with you was a big step.”
I stay quiet even though hundreds of questions are rushing through my head.
Parker stares down at his hands, “You’re the first one I’ve seen since the hospital.”
I wait, wondering if he’ll add anything more.
He sighs and rubs one hand over his head, “Look, I don’t have to tell you it’s bloody fucking hard to come back to civilian life and then with everything else.”
“I get it.”
“But do you?” He retorts sharply. Then he sighs. “Sorry, I didn’t want it to be like this.”
“Don’t apologize. You’re entitled to how you feel.” I know how important those words can be.
“Right. But I’m not angry at you. It took me a long time to realize that. It took me a long time to separate it all, the anger, the grief, the hopelessness. At first the anger was easiest and then avoiding it was all easiest.” He look up at me our gazes lock. And I can still see the pain in his eyes but I see so much more of the young soldier I knew. “I’m getting there Wales, I really am.”
I grab his arm and squeeze. “There’s no rush Rex. I’m here for you always.”
He grasps mine as well a ghost of a smile on his lips, “Thank you.”
My comrade and friend pours two healthy shots, “To the 6-6-2.”
“6-6-2.” We knock back the shots. I cough slightly. “Just like old times.”
“Right. Except you have less hair.” He jokes.
“Hey now.”
“And I have less legs.” He adds with a smirk. “I think you got the better deal Wales.”
I laugh along, knowing that it’s part of coping with it all. He’s comfortable in his body that’s important. I get it, other veterans would get it even if civilians wouldn’t.
We relax choosing to bring the alcohol over to the sitting area instead of the table. “Now, you have to tell me what’s going on between you and the fuckin’ First Lady of the United States.”
“Nothing.” Which isn’t technically a lie.
“Bullocks. It’s all over the internet.”
“Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.”
He just shakes his head, “You’re still a shit liar.”
“She’s a beautiful woman.” I say diplomatically.
He just rolls his eyes, “The whole bloody world knows that. That doesn’t answer my question.”
I sip on my beer. “We’re friends.”
“Are you friends or are you friends?”
I stay silent.
“You lucky bastard.” He’s come to his own conclusions and I don’t correct him. It’s not like he would believe me anyways. “Your secret is safe with me.”
“I didn’t doubt it.” I glance down at my watch. “If you stay a little longer you’ll meet her.”
“What?”
“She’s coming over.” I explain. “You’re more than welcome to stay.”
“Really?” He looks awed for a moment.
“Yeah.”
“I would love to meet her. And my mum would go mental.”
I grab another beer, “I’ll warn you though she’s a little different in person then she appears in the press or in public.”
“Oh?”
“Not in a bad way.” I clarify. “Frankly I like her more now that I’ve gotten to know the real her.”
“Interesting.”
Maybe thirty minutes later there’s a knock on the door. Parker blanches. I can’t help but laugh. “Don’t tell me your nervous.” Conveniently I’ve forgotten that I was quite nervous the first time I met her as well.
“She’s the fucking First Lady, mate.”
“And what am I?”
“You’re just Wales to me.”
He has a good point I suppose. I walk over to the door still chuckling to myself. Parker is standing fixing his shirt. He’s lost it I think.
I open the door and immediately glance down. She’s not wearing heels this evening, so her head meets my shoulder. I glance down and notice a fair bit of bare skin. Her white top has thin straps with an open neck and stops a good few inches before her bellybutton. But she’s wearing a long beige skirt to balance it out. She looks comfortable, relaxed, her long hair in loose waves. “Hey.”
I smile, “Hey.”
She looks over my shoulder, “Can I come in?”
“Yeah of course, sorry.” I step to the side and let her walk past me.
I go to introduce Parker to Kennedy and I’m struck with a dilemma. Bloody hell, I don’t know which name to use. Kennedy? Margaret? Miss Randolph? My mouth opens but no sound comes out.
“Uh-.”
Luckily Kennedy steps towards Parker, “Hello, lovely to meet you.” She holds out her hand. I notice that she doesn’t specifically introduce herself by name.
Parker for his part is probably so starstruck he doesn’t notice. His eyes are glazed over gazing at Kennedy like she’s a goddess. Can’t say I blame him. He hasn’t said anything, just stared. Kennedy’s hand is still out there.
Puzzled, she glances back at me. I shrug then cough loudly.
That breaks Parker out of his trance. “Oh, shite.” Then he slaps his hand to his mouth. “Shite, sorry.” He takes a deep breath. “I’ll start over.”
Kennedy smiles warmly. “Not a problem.”
Finally Parker steps forward and shakes her hand, “Miss Randolph, my lady, it’s an honor to meet you. Lieutenant Parker Lovell at your service.” Then he bows.
I roll my eyes. I’ve never seen Parker act like this and he’s met actual royalty before. Kennedy laughs lightly. “Parker, nice to meet you, but really none of that is necessary.”
She glances back towards me, “In fact, call me Kennedy, I insist.”
I can’t help but smile at that. I step closer and quickly brush my hand against hers. “Come sit, how do you feel about whiskey?” Parker just stares. “What?”
“I didn’t think you drank something like whiskey.” He blurts out.
“There’s a lot people don’t know about me.” Kennedy says. “Sorry to disappoint.”
Parker shakes his head still partially in disbelief, “No disappointment at all.”
I shrug as I pour Kennedy a drink, “I told you Rex.”
“So you did.”
“Do I want to know what you two are referring to?” Kennedy asks.
“I just told Rex not to believe everything the press has made you out to be.” I pause. “You’re better in person.”
“Flatterer.” She responds. “Rex?”
Parker nods, “Old military nickname. We all had them.”
Kennedy eyes sparkles, “Oh? Harry what was yours?”
“Wales.” I respond immediately.
“Bullocks! You have to tell her the real one.”
She looks at me obviously intrigued as she crosses one leg over the other. “Come on then.”
I sigh, “It’s really not that special.” Parker just raises his brow, no doubt ready to reveal it on my behalf. I take a little sip of the whiskey. “Houdini.”
Her brows furrow, “What in the world?”
I glare at Parker. This isn’t really what I wanted to discuss this evening. “After the escape artist.”
I explain shortly. Hopefully the two will let it drop. But I can see that Kennedy is intrigued she looks over at Parker silently pleading with her eyes. I know my old friend doesn’t stand a chance.
I lean back, thoroughly unamused at this development. Gesturing to Parker I wave him on. “Well go on then.”
He turns to Kennedy, “I won’t go too in depth, but we got into some sticky situations out there. I think the government decided it was best if most people didn’t know.”
“Well combat is combat. It was dangerous.”
He nods, “Right, but sometimes…it’s hard to explain to a civilian. But the important bit is that Harry here got out of every scrap. Like impossible things. Things no one should have survived, but he always got out. He always…escaped.”
I glance over to Kennedy to see her reaction. Her expression is blank, not necessarily confused but just bland.
Parker leans forward, excited now. “Harry was out on a mission once and the intelligence was faulty. The chopper flies right into enemy fire on two probably three sides. Some of the best pilots in the world couldn’t make it through that but you know who did? Houdini. That’s fucking who.”
Kennedy looks uncomfortable now, her hands clasped on her knees. Her knuckles white.
“Pretty good considering what would happen if they got you.” Parker takes a sip of his drink. “Taliban would have done some nasty shite, right mate?”
I nod absently but I’m still looking at Kennedy, she’s gone white now. Instinctively I reach out, placing my hands over hers. I squeeze, but her hands remain clasped.
Parker glances over then coughs self-consciously. “It’s all good now. We’re all safe. In the long run no worse for the wear…well mostly.”
Kennedy’s eyes have glazed over, lacking focus on anything. Parker looks at me with concern. I focus on Kennedy, wondering just what’s going on in that head of hers.
“Let’s play a game.” I clap my hands. “You up for it Kennedy?”
She blinks rapidly, “Yeah of course.”
I pull out a quarter, “Flip: Sip or Strip.”
A few hours later the three of us are utterly drunk. It turns out Kennedy is rather talented at flipping quarters. While Parker and I are shite at it. At some point Kennedy slipped off her shoes and curled up next to me on the couch. My arm drapes around her shoulders casually.
“So what is going on between the two of you?” Parker slurs.
Kennedy glances up at me and shrugs, “Isn’t that the million-dollar question?”
“You do look like a good couple. Fucken adorable.”
I laugh, “Thanks, I think.”
Parker leans his head back, “Could you imagine? Having the First bleedin Lady as a Princess?”
She snorts then waves her hand dismissively, “That will never happen.”
“I’ll try not to be offended by that, love.” I nudge her.
“Ohhhh.” Parker adds, stirring the pot.
She smiles up at me, drunk but happy. “It’s not you, it’s me.”
“Ouch!”
I just shake my head. Even in my inebriated state I know what she means. The First Lady can’t be married to a foreign Prince, at least not while her dad’s the president. She tips her head back and mouths quick sorry. I shrug and just pull her closer. God, it’s nice to just hold her. I rub my hands up and down her arm, trying not to focus on the way her position forces her breasts into a tempting valley.
“God, kiss her already.”
I blush and Kennedy just looks away sheepishly. “I should probably head back, it’s late.”
I frown at that. So much for making the most of our time together. But then I glance over at Parker; he’s beginning to snore. Yes, the night is well and truly over.
“I’ll walk you back.”
“You don’t-.”
“I’m walking you back.” I insist.
“Damn Prince Charmings.”
“We’re the worst.” I stand up and pull her to her feet. “Easy there.”
She rolls her eyes, “Don’t pretend you’re not drunk too.” She sticks out her tongue in the most adorable manner. “Goodnight Lieutenant, lovely to meet you.”
He just waves absently.
Kennedy and I are both laughing when we step out into the hall. Our security teams nod politely when we emerge. Kennedy sways as she walks down the hall, shoes in hand. “Thank you for escorting me home. You know the walk is so long, and dangerous.”
I nod solemnly, “There’s always these creepy guys in suits and aviators following you.”
She gasps theatrically, “Wait, really?”
I love seeing her like this, relaxed, languid and most importantly happy. We reach her door. Damn I don’t want to leave.
She turns towards me, her back to the closed door. “So, Lieutenant Lovell is nice.”
“He is.” I rock back and forth on my heels, very aware that the secret service is just twenty feet from us and watching.
“Wanna see a trick?” She asks, her eyes sparkling with trouble…and whiskey.
“Of course.”
She leans forward, then waves her hand at her agents who promptly move down the hall until they disappear. “Ta-da.”
“That might be my favorite trick.” I reply.
“Oh, I have better ones.”
Heat rushes through my body at her innuendo. I’m filled with thoughts, dirty, depraved but wonderful thoughts.
I bracket her against the door my hands on either side of her head. I lean down and press my lips to hers. I don’t start slow, no I want her and this first kiss is a symbol of my pent up feelings. I urge her lips to submit to mine wanting everything.
She acquiesces, her tongue tangling with mine. I smirk and go in deeper. She sighs and meets me for every stroke of my tongue with hers. She tastes like whiskey and honeyed caramel. I move forward, pinning her to the door.
Her arms wrap around my shoulders bringing me close. Her body pressed against mine. I can feel her skin seeping through my skin shirt and her pert soft breasts. I moan, pressing forward to her most intimate place just slightly.
I’m rewarded with a gasp.
I pull my lips away from hers, running my tongue over the corner one last time. Her cheeks are tinted pink, her eyes glazed. I run my lips along her jaw before tugging on her ear lobe. Her hips press closer to mine. Slowly I smile then place a hand on her chin forcing her to remain still. “Want to see my trick?”
Her chest rises and falls, but she nods.
I run my hand along her cheek before briefly dipping down to caress her throat. I tighten my hand over so slightly, forcing her head back just for a moment. Her hooded eyes meet mine and I look down. Her chest is thrust out, her body arched, desire personified.
My hand smooths down her skin, noticing the bumps of her collar bone, the pillowing hill of her breast the tautness of her stomach. Those aren’t my destination. No, I have a bigger prize.
Blood is roaring in my ears as I roughly hike up her skirt, moving the layered fabric out of my way.
Forcefully I pull her knee up and out. Then my fingers trace the delicate crease where her thigh meets her hips. I look up at her, locking eyes as I slide two fingers into her center. Her eyes widen on a moan. Fuck yeah.
She’s wet, slick beneath my fingers. I slide closer letting my thumb play with that tight bundle of nerves. She jerks and she tightens around me. “God, you’re wet Kennedy.”
She tips her head back, “Harry…”
Her breathless plea calls to something primal within me and I know I can’t, wouldn’t dream of denying anything that she would ask of me.
“I know, I know.” I pump my fingers in and out of her, twirling her clit. “I’ve got you. Just don’t close your eyes. Look at me. Look at me while I have my fingers in you.”
She gasps whether at my words or actions I don’t know. All I know is that I want her to make that sound again. Her hand pulls my face towards her smashing her lips against mine. Her movements are frantic, rushed. Almost as much as mine.
“Can you take more?” I ask, my voice rough my breath fanning over her face. “Kennedy?”
I stop for a second. She whines, “Please.”
I smile, running my lips around her forehead, “Please what love?”
“I need…” She thrust her hips forward and then back. She does it again, grinding herself on my hand. Bloody hell that’s sexy.
“That’s it, love.” I bite her ear lobe. “Come on my fingers. I want it.”
She arches her back and I thrust in a third finger then put pressure on her sweet spot. She moans. “I’m close.”
“Come on Kennedy.” I feel her tighten around my fingers wishing to god it was my cock instead. She’s close, I swoop down and cover her exclamation with a kiss. Her fingers go rigid against my shoulders.
I feel her relax in my arms. Gently, I place a kiss on her nose, murmuring sweet nothings.
“Ahem.”
I freeze as does Kennedy. Carefully, I turn my shoulders shielding her from the person. Then make sure her skirt is covering her and my hand. Slowly I remove my hand.
Kennedy looks panicked, all traces of pleasure gone.
Then I turn to see who was there. Fuck.
It’s Paul. I’m not entirely sure what he does or who he is but I know Kennedy despises the man. He’s pointedly staring at Kennedy, ignoring me. “Miss Randolph, perhaps you should go inside.”
She nudges me back then glares at Paul. “Paul, go fuck yourself.” Then she places a quick kiss on my cheek. “Goodnight Harry.”
“Goodnight.”
She slips into the room leaving only Paul and I. At least we’re alone until my security reappears. I move to walk around Paul but he steps in my path. I raise my brow. “Something to say?”
“We would advise you to stay away from any members of the Randolph Administration.”
“Oh you would?” I step closer and lower my voice. The fucking coward won’t look me in the eyes at first. “I advise you to not spy on intimate moments between consenting adults. I don’t think that’s a story that needs to get out.”
He’s silent.
“And in the words of Miss Randolph, ‘Fuck you Paul.’” I hit my shoulder against his as I walk away.
Started reading it yesterday. I had seen this story before but it was with michelle obama back then i believe. I LOVE IT!! Was wondering if you will finish it when invictus ends or if you will continue it ?
Thank you so much! Definitely was inspired by the camaraderie between Michelle Obama and Harry, but of course she is happily married.
AN: Happy Friday! Blanket disclaimer for the rest of the chapters that there could be mature content (not saying this one has some) but just keep that in mind. Thank you for all the amazing feedback from the last chapter! You guys rock. -M
FLOTUS POV
I’m sitting at the breakfast bar as the sun rises. I couldn’t sleep last night, at least not well. Every time I closed my eyes the events of last night just kept replaying: our conversation, his laughs, the kiss.
Oh god, the kiss. My stomach flips at the thought.
Unable to sleep I woke up, worked out and and got dressed. When Anna makes her first appearance I’m picking at a fruit parfait. She falters when she sees me, something that only would happen before her first cup of coffee. Usually she’s on her second pot by the time I’m up to have my first cup.
“Good morning Kennedy.” She walks over to the coffee pot. “You’re up early.”
“I know.”
She stares at me warily, “And you’re dressed.”
“I know.” I smooth my hand over the starched material. The light yellow fabric is covered with wildflowers, green, pink, blue. It’s one of my favorite dresses.
“Coffee?”
I shake my head, “Not right now.”
Anna looks at me with wide eyes, “Why don’t we go sit on the couches?”
I let Anna slowly walk me over to the collection of couches. I sink into the soft cushion, conscious to not wrinkle my dress. My eyes drift out towards the windows, the sun makes the surface of the lagoon sparkle with the first boats of the day beginning to make the journey across the water. Anna holds a mug of coffee under my nose. Routinely I grab the cup.
We both sit quietly for a moment, the two of us sipping on our beverages.
“So, how was last night?”
“Last night?” I ask innocently then drink again. “It was fine.”
“Just fine?”
“Really, it was fine.” I insist. I know that I could tell Anna anything and everything but not right now. I don’t need to overthink this, it was just one kiss. Well two kisses, but they were so short.
“Okay.” She stands. “I’m going to look through my press packet for this morning, right over here. If you want to talk…”
“Okay.” I interrupt, then continue to sip on my coffee. Slowly I can start to feel myself wake up and with it more and more conscious thoughts from last night. I can hear Anna typing away just a few feet from me, but vivid thoughts from last night still overcome me.
I jump when my phone beeps. Café downstairs in an hour.
So we’re definitely still having coffee. I’m dreading the moment when I have to tell Anna and my secret service that we’re meeting Harry for breakfast. I’m about to call out to Anna when I hear her curse.
“What?” I ask.
Anna walks back over to the couches, her iPad in hand. She sits across from me and reads, “Prince Harry looked at @FLOTUS all night, whispering, giggling. Definitely a romance happening there.”
“What’s that from?”
“A tweet, complete with a picture of you and Harry in a monorail, you in his arms.” Anna shows me the IPad.
I look at the photo, knowing the precise moment it was taken. Then I glance down at the retweets and favorites. This picture is going to be all over the place.
Anna wrenches the IPad back. “Then there’s this one: ‘Spotted Harry & FLOTUS last night, all over each other.’ And that user attaches a photo of the two of you in the lobby, embracing.”
I bite my lip, rumors are one thing, but pictures are always worse. And those pictures tell one specific type of narrative. I’m not struck with the usual dread. No, this morning I’m looking at the way Harry’s looking at me in those pictures. And I want to kiss him again.
“You’re not angry.” Anna says flatly. She puts the device down. “What the hell happened last night?”
“He organized a private monorail ride.” I say, hopefully keeping a straight face.
“How private?”
“Completely, no officers or anything.”
“Wow.” Anna leans back. She purses her lips.
“What?”
“Honestly that sounds kind of boring.”
I throw a pillow at her. “We talked.”
“Those pictures don’t look like two people who were just ‘talking’ for an hour.” She glares at me, not falling for any of my bullshit. “What else happened?”
I can feel myself blushing.
Anna’s eyes go wide. “Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.” She stands, speaking purposefully. “You had sex with Prince Harry.”
“No!” I stand too, holding out my hand to stop her. “We didn’t sleep together.”
“Oh.” She sounds disappointed.
“We kissed though.”
“Really?” I nod. She screams. “Oh my god you kissed Prince Harry!”
Her excitement is infectious. “I kissed Harry. Oh my god. Holy shit, holy fucking shit I kissed Harry.” I collapse back onto the couch. “Shit. I’m in trouble.”
“Probably.” She pauses, then adds thoughtfully. “I would imagine he’s a decent kisser.”
“It wasn’t that long of a kiss.”
“Then kiss him again.”
“May I remind you that as my Chief-of-Staff you should be discouraging me from this.”
“Where is it in my job description that I have to tell you not to hook up with attractive, wealthy gingers?”
“When the man in question happens to be a prince, I think it applies.” I sigh. “The West Wing isn’t going to like this.”
“No, they won’t. I can handle them though and the public, that actually is my job.” She begins typing on her phone. “You’re going to meet him right now, aren’t you?”
I nod. No point in lying. My whereabouts are rarely kept hidden, especially from her.
“Promise me you’ll think about what you want from this, then conduct yourself in public accordingly.”
“Fair enough.” Now just to decide what I actually want from here.
I make my way down to the café without incident, struck by a massive sense of déjà vu. It was only a few days ago that I was meeting Harry in another restaurant in the same hotel.
Unfortunately, the walk hasn’t enlightened me any. I don’t know how I feel about the kiss beyond the bundle of nerves twisting in my stomach. From excitement? From dread? I wish I had a fucking user manual sometime.
Fortunately, when I arrive at the delicate Victorian themed café Harry isn’t there. I have a few more precious moments to think.
The dumbfounded waiter leads me to a table near the windows scattered around are a few other couples. It makes sense I suppose this environment doesn’t really scream family friendly.
I order a coffee and water while I wait. Thinking, trying to decide what to do. I was tipsy last night when we kissed and revealed too much to be sure. However, I’m not sure if I’m to the point where I regret anything.
I sigh. Then get angry. It was one f-ing kiss, a good kiss, but not something to be worried about. I’ve been kissed plenty of times before. I’ve been kissed more thoroughly before. I’ve been kissed by more attractive men. I’ve been kissed by more interest-
I frown. That must be the problem. I’m just intrigued. Which means the best course is to just play it cool. A fling.
A fling with a prince. A fling with a prince and the daughter of the leader of the free world…no big deal.
“Kennedy?” His voice breaks me out of my reverie. I glance up then flinch. He’s much closer than I expected. “You looked like you were in your own little world.”
I chuckle lightly, yeah something like that.
I stand and get a better look at him this morning. His eyes are soft today, maybe still hazy with sleep. Of course he’s wearing one of his Invictus polos and a pair of jeans. I’m starting to doubt that he’s packed anything else.
Instinctively we both lean forward for a kiss on the cheek. I can smell his cologne, dark, comfortable this morning. It feels intimate.
He leans back and squeezes my hands, “You look great.”
I blush then look down. “We should sit.”
He agrees and we both sit. “How did you sleep?”
The question is innocuous enough, but I contemplate on whether or not to tell the truth. I decide for a half truth, “Restless a little.”
The waiter returns for our orders.
I can feel his eyes on mine throughout the whole process. His gaze is like a weight, palpable and not necessarily unwelcome. When the waiter leaves I glance at him. He’s staring at me, not in a penetrating way but in a thoughtful way, as if he’s trying to remember something. A slight smile on his face makes me want to know just what he’s thinking.
I try to stare back, but end up looking away. “You have to stop looking at me like that.”
“Make me.” He says laughing lightly. The man is basically a five-year-old trapped in an adult body, a very handsome adult body. “I’m just thinking about that kiss.”
Immediately I scan the area around us looking for prying eyes or ear. I lean forward and hiss, “You can’t say that word.”
“What word?” He replies innocently.
I roll my eyes, “Don’t be obtuse.”
He chuckles, “Fine. We’ll refer to it as swimming.”
The code word isn’t a bad idea. I nod my head.
“Good. I was just thinking about how much I enjoyed swimming with you last night.”
Never have I word the swimming used in such a loaded sense. Each syllable was laced with innuendo. How in the world does he manage that?
I sigh, and decide to feign detachment. “If this is how you act after one ki-” Harry raises a brow in warning. “..after one swim I can’t imagine…” I trail off dramatically.
“You’re right.” His smile drops slightly and he nods solemnly. When he looks back up his eyes have lost that sleepy element. Now they burn slightly, they’re darker and deeper. “Did you imagine what I would be like after more? Is that why you slept so restlessly?”
I’m at a loss for words, my mouth dry. This is a side I haven’t seen. This isn’t flirtatious teasing, no this is seduction. And I’m ill-prepared.
His fingers gently brush again mine, soft but full of purpose, promise. A trail of goosebumps is left in its wake.
Then suddenly he leans back in his chair, resting his elbow comfortably on the back. “But something tells me that you’re about to tell me that last night won’t happen again.”
He sounds confident, but I can pick up a bit of disappointment in his eyes. A fission of pleasure works its way through me. He has no idea. And I do love being contrary to him. “You’re wrong.”
“What?”
“I’m not opposed to it happening again.” I lean back as well, folding my hands above my crossed legs.
“Really?” He asks suspiciously.
“But I have some ground rules.”
He frowns and rolls his eyes, looking much more like a disgruntled child than a handsome prince. “There’s always rules.”
I can’t help but laugh. “So you don’t even want to hear them?”
“Now I didn’t say that.”
Just then the waiter returns with the pastries we ordered for breakfast we both murmur our thanks. I take a bite or two and sip my coffee.
Harry sighs impatiently.
“I can’t, won’t do long term.”
Again, he frowns. “I remember why.”
“So that goes hand in hand with no public displays.”
He pauses for a moment, thinking it over. His fork carefully breaking through the fluffy pastry. Part of me wants him to say no, to demand a change of the rules. But I know that it wouldn’t matter. I really do only have so many options and I’m willing to be only so reckless.
“Someone showed me twitter this morning. You know that our attempts at discretion only get us so far, people assume.”
I nod, it’s a logical thing to point out. “Fair, but all I’m asking is no smoking gun.”
He opens his mouth then abruptly closes it. The smirk tugging at his lips makes me want to know just what he’s thinking. “What were you about to say?”
“I had the fleeting thought to say…” He stops again, his shoulders shaking with the effort of suppressed laughter. “I could show you a smoking gun.” He leers and sends a wink.
It’s just not what I was expecting. The cheesy pick up line coupled with the delivery…I hold my napkin to my mouth to muffle my laughter. Harry’s looking on as well, shoulders still shaking. Eventually we both calm down.
“Sorry, for the record you asked. My filter actually worked for once.” I smile at the ‘for once’ addition.
He sets his cup down, all business once again. “Today’s the second to last day of the games. And you say there’s no chance for long term. So what you’re proposing is a-”
“A fling. Yes.” I look at him unflinchingly. Yes, I’m propositioning a prince but I’m still the First Lady. I’m going to be confident about it.
“So quickies in hotel rooms?” He doesn’t sound too pleased by the idea.
Frankly, neither am I.
I put out a steadying hand. “I’m just saying whatever happens, happens. I’ve really enjoyed myself the past few days and you are a part of that.” I shrug. “Let’s just have fun, relax.”
He looks at me thoughtfully. “Basically you’re not guaranteeing anything.”
“Pretty much.”
I can tell he’s not totally sold on the idea. I just wish I knew why. Is it because I want casual? Or because I’m not saying ‘let’s go do it in a closet’? While he’s thinking I realize that I just need him to realize why this sounds perfect to me.
I lean forward, “Two days. Nothing planned, nothing contrived, just us. You can’t tell me that it doesn’t sound amazing. We’ll be hiding the biggest secret right under the world’s nose.”
He looks away out towards the windows. The resort is starting to become a little more populated, the sleepy tourists beginning their day. Harry’s thinking but I see the moment he decides. He licks his lips just barely then smiles. He can’t resist the opportunity.
“Okay.”
“Great.” I smile, satisfied with myself.
“On one condition.” I scowl. “Would you expect anything else?”
I huff. “No. What’s the condition?”
“For the next two days, just be yourself Kennedy. Don’t put on the character.”
“Harry…” I say warningly. “That’s not fair.”
“Watch the people be charmed by you not her, just like I was.”
“I don’t see how that would affect anything between the two of us.”
“I disagree.” He leans back again, looking annoyingly calm. “Kennedy, she’s the one I want to kiss again.” I look frantically around when he says that. “Not Margaret Randolph.”
It’s two days, only two days. Yeah and it was only two kisses. Now look where I am: actually contemplating this scheme. Maybe the promise of Harry was the motivation I needed. Or maybe it’s the surreal world of Disney. But I’m actually considering this.
“What do I get out of this?”
“Me.” He responds. I raise my brow at the hubris. “Sorry, joke. Seriously, you get me but without hampering you for something more. I’m not a fling kind of guy, Kennedy. But I’ll make an exception.”
I try not dwell on the fact that he’s making this exception for me.
“So?” He asks.
I take one last fortifying breath. Then I brace myself. “Fine. Yes, deal.”
“You’re sure?”
“Positive.”
He smiles fully now. “Great. Come on.” He stands abruptly then holds his hand out. I look pointedly at his hand then at the restaurant. He drops his hand. “Oh, right. Follow me.”
I stand slowly, then walk slightly in front of him. “Where are we going?”
He jerks his head to the side once we leave the confines of the restaurant. We’re still in the resort though and surrounded by our security guards. Harry quickens his pace until he’s leading me, towards the exit I think, maybe.
Quickly we’re moving through the halls, I’m struggling to keep up in my heels. I’m tempted to ask him to stop once we step outside.
But he stops first as we round a corner and he jerks me towards me. We’re in an alcove, partially hidden by a large palm tree and the curved wall. My back hits the cool stucco. I look up at Harry in confusion. “What the-”
And his lips are on mine again. I’m not prepared and the effect is tremendous. I have no preparation no place to ground myself so I’m lost in him. I’m lost in the way that his lips press against mine soft and gentle at first. Then he shifts, a shift I can feel like there’s an electric line from him to me.
I part my mouth opening to him, needing him to be closer. He smirks, growling slightly. His hands tightening on my waist to pull me closer.
We’re pressed against one another. I can feel every hard inch of him. I revel in it, finally melding my tongue with his. Harry’s lips pull and press with mine, as if they want to know every secret. Goddamn, if I don’t want to show them all of it.
Instinctively, my leg bends, placing my heel flat on the wall. It has the effect of pressing me closer in the most intimate of ways.
Harry pulls back slightly. He looks at me, eyes hooded. We both just watch one another. I run my tongue over my lips slowly, daring him to kiss me again. Harry bites his lip in response, his eyes shifting close just every slightly.
His hand finds purchase on the wall next to my hand, his palm slapping the concrete flat. He’s caged me in against the dull noises of the resort.
As we hold each other’s gaze his other hand leaves my waist. I pout slightly. Harry nips gently at my lip.
Then I feel his hand on my knee, rubbing slow, large circles. His hand isn’t soft, but the calluses feel as if they mark my skin, each rough patch marring the smooth expanse of my leg. It’s jarring, leaving every nerve at attention.
His voice is low and rough as he continues to rub my lower thigh. “I’ve wanted to do this since you wore those shorts last night.” He squeezes roughly and I inhale sharply, never more aware of that space. Then he moves higher. I can feel his hand disappear under the soft material of my dress and slip. “And then I see you in those heels today…” He groans softly. “I’m so fucking glad you said yes.”
“Me too.” I say breathlessly, enjoying each caress on my thigh.
Finally I pull him back to me, tired of talking when there are much better options. This kiss is just slightly more desperate than the last. His lips are more forceful, pushing and caressing. I match his passion, mingling my tongue with his.
I lose myself in the moment, focusing on the sensations, his lips, his chest and his hand resting so comfortably on my thigh. It’s been ages since I’ve felt this spark, this hunger. Not a part of me wants to deny it.
Good Mickey Morning Montogmery family!
Harry and I pull apart abruptly. I wince as my head slams into the stucco.
All the way from Ohhhklahoma, Ready to have a magical day? The all too cheery tour guide continues.
Harry looks down at me with a smirk. I roll my eyes, but stay silent. As we wait for the group to keep walking the rest of my senses come back. I can now hear the dull sounds of people, families, employees, and even the occasional seagull. The sweet aroma from the kitchen floats out to greet us as well. And the sticky heat begins to collect on my skin.
Carefully I look around. The alcove was private enough, but I can only imagine how much our protection saw. Slowly I pull my leg down, Harry frowns playfully.
Finally the group passes.
I exhale I breath I wasn’t aware I was holding.
Harry steps back. We both look at one another for a moment. Until finally we both smile. “Two days.”
“Two days.” I echo.
Then he smiles, “Two whole days.”
I shake my head, “Come on Charming. We have work to do.” We walk out of our hiding spot. Immediately our protection appears. Shit. I will away any embarrassment. Surely these men have seen worst, right?
I do notice that none of them are looking at me. They’re all glaring at Harry who looks supremely uncomfortable. I have to admit, I’m kind of enjoying it.
“Miss Randolph.” And now it’s ruined it. Paul has appeared once again. He’s wearing another ill-fitting suit with a rather large tie. “Your Royal Highness.”
“Do you need something Paul?” I ask tersely.
“You weren’t on schedule.” Paul glances at Harry then back at me. “May I suggest you return to your room before attending your first engagement.”
His tone doesn’t sound very suggestion like and I can only imagine what I look like now. Self-consciously I touch my lips, hoping to pick up any smudges of lipstick.
I look over at Harry who’s smirking at me, no doubt satisfied with his attempt to muff my appearance. With a self-satisfied smile I rub at my chin pointedly. There’s a large red mark there. He blinks then wipes at it quickly.
“Until later, your royal highness.” I do a mock curtsey, still high from the effects of that kiss.
