Do you think this being the internet means that it's cool to tell people to fuck off and die? how edgy and feminist of you... Intersectional feminist, radical-leaning, future health-care policy writer, interested in your cats : )
Said it before and I’ll say it again: rejecting femininity and holding onto your womanhood will always be more radical than rejecting femininity and claiming that makes you a new gender.
In light of the famous feminine men now identifying as nonbinary rather than just existing as feminine men: rejecting masculinity and holding on to your manhood will always be more radical than claiming that being feminine means you can’t be a man.
At the makeup store I worked at we used to get men coming in w their wives/girlfriends and they would often scoff at everything and one time a guy maybe in his early 50s came in w his family and while his wife & daughter were looking around, he and his son stood near the counter and he was like “don’t you wish you were a boy? Haha!” and when I asked why he replied “then you wouldn’t have to waste time with all this useless stuff!” and then went on to be like ‘lol silly vapid women ur all so vain haha’ for a while. I got sick if it eventually and was like “yeah it is a waste of time, things would be much easier if we didn’t have to worry about makeup or boring stuff like doing our hair and shaving :)))) You should probably tell your wife not to bother anymore :) because it’s such a useless waste of time :)))” and suddenly he looked really concerned and he was like “oh but shaving is for hygiene! And I mean she ENJOYS all this stuff and…she looks nice so…” and babbled for ages about how not shaving is wrong and how he prefers how his wife looks when she puts “effort” into her appearance.
So like…he was all for mocking women for “wasting time on this useless stuff” and having a good ol’ laugh about how silly and vain women are bc it made him feel superior or whatever but panicked at the thought that his wife might not “put effort” into her appearance.
I fucking hate this about men. My father mocks me sometimes for being “vain” but then constantly goes on at me about how I need to go comb my “messy” hair and etc.
men absolutely expect women to “put effort into our appearance”, the part they don’t like is the part where they have to see it. This is also why men like ~natural girls who are still wearing makeup but with natural shades; you have to be beautiful but you can’t let them see that it takes time, effort, energy, money and labour
I just… “Shaving is hygienic!” Yes… because only women contract illnesses when they don’t shave. Men don’t shave and they just amplify their “man-ness”
*rolls eyes into the sun*
Ive said it on a different post and ill say it here again. Men point with one hand and jerk off with the other. They require us to do all these beauty things for them, and then mock us for… doing them. You can’t win. The comment that it’s “vapid” is the cherry on the goddamn cake - they’re the ones who are too shallow to love women for our natural selves.
Bit of a rant, but where do these guys think the phenomenon of female beauty standards came from? For all of history men kept us out of education, careers, finances, legislation, government, anything that wasn’t the home. We were auctioned off from father to husband, for whom the only thing that mattered (apart from the dowry in some cases) was our fuckability.
We were reduced to that - fuckability, beauty, whatever you want to call it - for millennia. We were socialized to conform to men’s ridiculous norms because that was the only way we could afford any kind of social mobility. Women aren’t into beauty stuff because they’re born with a burning inner desire for make-up and smooth armpits - it’s because society has historically reduced them to sexual capital for men.
Tldr; femininity is ultimately just a male fantasy. So it’s rich of them to call us vapid when they’re the ones setting shallow standards and demanding we conform to them, or else.

UK — Airdrie, Scotland. A 50-year-old mother-of-two has been charged with a hate crime after an extremist transgender advocate reported her to police for retweeting a photograph of a green, white and violet women’s suffrage ribbon.
Police Scotland confirmed that Marion Millar, an accountant, business owner and gender-critical feminist campaigner, was arrested. Ms Millar, who has since been released on bail, is accused of posting six tweets in 2019 that run afoul of the Communications Act 2003.
The women’s suffrage ribbon, which was tied to a chain-link fence in front of a tree outside the Glasgow studio where a BBC soap opera is shot, appears to be a central focus of the police investigation.
Women seeking suffrage in the UK used green, white and violet to stand for “Give Women the Vote,” and to represent royalty, freedom, purity and hope.
The complaint is rumored to have been filed by David Paisley, an aged 42, heavily muscled, tattooed actor who stars as Rory Murdoch on the Glasgow soap River City. There is no official confirmation that Mr Paisley filed the complaint.
The complainant purportedly told police that the bow of ribbons shared by Ms Millar represented a hangman’s noose, putting the complainant in fear of his life as a transgender advocate who is also a gay man.
The C-list entertainer tweeted that he has fled his home and is in hiding. He claimed that police have “put my home on rapid response,” and that he is in contact with a local victims and psychological support team.
Last year, Mr Paisley, a high-profile trans advocate, insisted that men who obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) have the right to perform medical examinations on female rape victims who request a female forensic team, because GRC holders have “change[d] their legal sex so it aligns with their gender.”
Ms Millar may be sentenced to up to six months in prison if convicted on the hate crime charges.
To honor Ms Millar, artist Birdy Rose illustrated a graphic of a woman shouting defiantly while holding up green, white and purple women’s suffrage ribbons to the sky. The words “Woman: Adult Human Female” are written on the ribbons, and a banner with the words “Women Won’t Wheesht” graces the bottom of the illustration.
Transgender-identifying extremist Joss Prior posted an altered version of the artist’s illustration, in which the fist holding up the ribbon has been modified to an outstretched hand, making it appear that the woman is doing a Nazi salute. “They’re not even subtle about the Nazi symbolism any more [sic],” Mr Prior wrote in the tweet accompanying the altered illustration.
The artist said she is “absolutely fuming” about the altered graphic.
Mr Prior had posted a YouTube video in February titled, “Trans woman in womens [sic] spaces.” The video shows the transgender advocate dancing in a women’s restroom to mock women’s concerns about sharing sex-specific facilities with male individuals: “I was waiting for the toilet and had a dance to show the nefarious interests trans women have for using the womens [sic] toilets,” the video description reads.
After her arrest, Ms Millar briefly locked down her Twitter account, a measure she said was to stave off continued abuse. She has since made the account publicly visible again.
Following complaints from transgender activists, a GoFundMe campaign created to raise funding to cover Ms Millar’s legal expenses was shut down and all donations refunded to Ms Millar’s supporters. The campaign had raised £14k in 3 hours.
“They have taken down my page pic.twitter.com/2ejCZXaxr3 — 'MarionMillar' #WomenWontWheesht (@millar_marion) June 5, 2021
Ms Millar later began accepting donations through Paypal, but the account was locked for suspicious activity, presumably because the account was mass-reported.
& Co, a criminal defense law firm, will organize a crowdfunding for Ms Millar’s legal expenses “in coming weeks,” she announced in a tweet yesterday.
“The past few weeks have been a nightmare for Marion and her family and it seems there is no end in sight,” a For Women Scotland spokeswoman said. “Sadly, in Scotland, it seems both free speech and women’s rights are under attack.”
On Thursday, Ms Millar was subjected to a two-hour interview with law enforcement at a Coatbridge police station. Her supporters held placards and wore shirts with the slogan, “Women won’t wheesht” (‘wheesht’ is Scottish venacular meaning ‘shut up’, ‘be quiet’ or ‘hush’), and tied violet, green and white ribbons to nearby posts. Some wore fake mustaches.
Many are showing support of Ms Millar on social media under the hashtag #WomenWontWheesht, and using an image of women’s suffrage ribbons for an avatar or primary profile picture.
Ms Millar is expected to appear at Glasgow sheriff court next month.
She is not the first person in the UK to face legal prosecution for displaying defiance to gender identity ideology on social media.
Katie Scottow of Hertfordshire, England was convicted of the offense of Persistently Making Use Of A Public Communications Network To Cause Annoyance, Inconvenience, And Anxiety following 2018 tweets in which she used male pronouns to refer to transgender-identifying advocate Stephanie Hayden, and called the advocate a “pig in a wig.” Ms Scottow was fined £1,000 and handed a two-year conditional discharge. She successfully appealed the conviction in December.
The “dude” who wants to let males examine rape victims is offended by a ribbon. Something that if a woman (who hasn’t been trying to escape being a woman) did she would be called a Karen.
I hope the second dude peaks a lot of Scottish women.
Did you know that the “red notifications” show you’re using Shinigami Eyes? I’m going to guess you didn’t know that the creator of Shinigami Eyes is a transgender-identified male rapist who overcame his dysphoria long enough to stick his dick in “trans men” ?
Do you always support programmes created by transgender sexual predators who see you, specifically, as a target?
Look, when I see someone use wording like “transgender-aligned male” to describe trans women, I’m not gonna believe a damn word said. There’s never been any information drudged up on this, and knowing the rancid cancel culture bullshit Tumblr is known for, it would’ve circled around and I would’ve seen it. You lot just hate trans women and wanna find an excuse to ruin their lives.
I hate to break this to you, but we’re not lying. All three major ‘TERF’ blocking extensions were made by predators.
Wesley (‘Laurelai’) Bailey, the creator of Shinigami Eyes, has been accused of sexually harassing and raping multiple young women and girls, including a 14-year-old. He has a rich history of harassing women and girls online, and he once doxxed a 16-year-old girl.
Dennis (’Allison’) Woolbert, the creator of TERF Tracker, is a convicted felon who repeatedly raped his 15-year-old stepdaughter.
Ashton (’Aimee’) Challenor runs Terfblocker on Twitter. His father, David Challenor, used to assist Ashton in running Terfblocker before being put in prison for kidnapping, torturing, and raping a 10-year-old girl. Ashton is in an intimate relationship with Nathaniel Knight, a man who writes pornographic fiction about children.
Don’t forget that while Mary Daly wanted to keep her advanced Feminist classes women-only, she offered to tutor interested male students on the subject on her own time, free of charge. This still wasn’t good enough for them. They didn’t want to learn about feminism, they wanted to intrude on women.
being 25 is like: im dying. im living my best life. im a failure. my life hasnt started. everything interesting has already happened to me. im achieving my dreams. im cutting my hair with kitchen scissors. im starting a skincare routine. im a corporate professional. im a sellout. im out of groceries. i have too many groceries. i am never going to be successful. i am going to win a hugo award before im 30. im crazy. im boring. i need to finish this essay. i need to finish this story. i need to start a newsletter. i need to start tweeting more. i need to stop tweeting. i need to ghost all my friends. i need to tell my friends i love them. i need to find a new apartment. i need to take out the trash. i am the trash that needs to be taken out.
do you ever just think about how literally no opressed group has ever complained about their oppressors not fucking them? like can you imagine if the civil rights movement consisted of a group of people going "these nazis won't fuck me >:("? people with real problems don't do that.
Hey gyns, I wanna tell you about the one thing that basically destroyed my dysphoria and gave me so much confidence in myself, my body, and my womanhood: doing difficult manual labor with other women.
In high school and the first part of college, i was very dysphoric and thought I was non-binary because I thought I “wasn’t like other girls” because I didn’t fit in with misogynistic stereotypes. I couldn’t escape libdem ideas and always felt claustrophobic. Classic. I also was severely depressed and had an eating disorder that landed my in the hospital and almost got me removed from university. I had no self confidence and felt disconnected from other women.
Then, right after college I landed a job on a wilderness trail crew with the US Forest Service. By some stroke of luck I ended up on a four-woman crew. They were some of the most amazing, strong and hard working women I’ve met.
We spent the days using crosscut saws to remove fallen logs from the trails (think old-timey logger two-person saws), chopped smaller logs with axes, moved huge boulders with our bodies, and hiked 10-12 miles a day carrying about 60 pounds of gear each. It was amazing. Over one summer we cleared about 300 miles of trail, just the four of us.
It was an awakening for me. While I’d done manual labor growing up, it was always in the presence of men. With men, they insinuated I wasn’t as strong, tried to do my work for me, or showed off, etc. With my crew of awesome ladies, the environment was so different. We were strong, yes, but we met difficult tasks with effective communication and creative use of our body mechanics, instead of “brute strength.” There was no derision, no judgement, no mind games that there would have been if men were present.
Throughout the summer I stopped thinking of myself as non-binary. I stopped feeling shame in being a woman, and began to feel connected with my body for the first time in years. I started believing in myself again.
Doing manual labor with women honestly changed/saved my life, and I encourage all women to find a similar experience. I understand not everyone physically can do physical labor, but I guess my message is this: regardless of what the task is, do hard things with women. Learn, cultivate skills, work, and work hard with other women. It will teach you, fulfill you, and truly empower you. Seek out opportunities to complete your work away from men and you will flourish.
1) Congratulations, OP. I’m proud of you for finding healthy ways to cope with your dysphoria and embrace who you are.
2) The cure to internalized misogyny is women. Spending time with other women. Talking to other women. Sharing with other women. Befriending other women. Finding solidarity and camaraderie with other women. Realizing you’re not alone. Getting away from the influence of men and realizing their perceptions are not universal.
3) This is why both conservatives and trans activists want to eradicate female-only spaces. If women talk, alone and away from the watchful eyes of men, they realize they have quite a lot in common, which leads to the veil lifting. Healing. Solidarity. Organization. Class consciousness. Feminism. And men can’t have that.
why is it so hard for people to understand that 1. more women in government means better general outcomes for women and 2. the first statement can coexist with individual women in power doing fucked up right-wing shit that is worth criticising
CNN said “individuals with a cervix are now recommended to start cervical cancer screenings at 25”. A woman points out the dangers of the wording and how it’s promoting femicide. TRA then calls her a disgusting terf.
Obsessed with the men coming out as women because they “feel like it on the inside,” who then proceed to write essays proving they’ve never felt empathy for a woman once in their lives
Replacing the legal concept of sex with gender would actually be a disaster for everyone who relies on civil rights that depend on the existence of sex discrimination. Like there are major lawsuits over the definitions of less important things. Like there is a huge ongoing legal fight over the definition of milk in the US and we are all just supposed to shrug our shoulders and assume replacing sex w gender won’t impact women’s and gay rights :/ people are really underreacting to this....there are ways to enshrine civil rights for gender non conforming and trans people, which absolutely must be done, without a major legal precedent that will affect women and gay people’s lives for generations
This week on This Podcast Will Kill You the episode is about HPV and opens with a woman talking about her HPV and cervical cancer diagnosis. When a mass was found, necessitating a hysterectomy, her male surgeon wanted to delay the surgery for YEARS, not because the cancer was no biggie, but because he thought she might want more children - especially a son. She already had two daughters - aged 4 and 10 - and he still thought that it was best to hold off on surgically removing her cancer so that she could have a son.
When we talk about son preference, we say that son preference affects more than just how daughters are treated and birth rate, but how son preference leaks into other aspects of women’s lives. And here’s an example. This woman had to fight for a week to get her doctor to remove her CANCER because HE thought it best she keep her ability to birth a son.
what truly baffles me is that trans/nb “inclusive” language is not actually inclusive at all. people all over the world would recognize my body as female despite me having had a hysterectomy and no longer having a uterus because sexual dimorphism is coherent enough that we all know damn well what “female” means to most people, even if you think it’s a transphobic definition.
you know what kind of language DOESN’T include me? “people who menstruate” or “people with a uterus.”
y'all claim that “terfs” are the ones who don’t account for infertile women, for women who’ve had hysterectomies, for premenstrual girls, for menopausal women, for intersex women. y'all say “terfs” reduce people to their genitals. but the reality is that isolating bodily functions and organs as defining characteristics of a cohesive group of people: 1) actually results in exclusion, 2) actually reduces people to their genitals, and 3) obscures misogyny by pretending issues affecting the female body “affect people of all genders.”
I’m not telling you to change your pronouns or the way you conceive your individual body. I’m telling you to look at the larger picture and realize that misogyny is a societal problem and that it has targeted the female body, and oppression will not come to an end if we cannot name it.
bringing this back because I’ve been thinking about how it’s particularly tone-deaf and cruel to discuss the needs of female bodies using this kind of language.
let’s go through some examples of females who may not menstruate/have a uterus/have ovaries/etc:
- a premenstrual girl. not included in “people with periods.” may not currently need, say, access to bathrooms that have sanitary pads. most absolutely needs comprehensive education on her body and how menstruation works for when the time comes.
- a woman with PCOS who’s stopped menstruating. not included in “people with periods.” still in absolute need of research on her female-specific condition because doctors still don’t know what exactly causes it or how to effectively treat it.
- a woman who had an oophorectomy because she had ovarian cancer. not included in “people with ovaries” or “people who produce more estrogen than testosterone.” would maybe still have her ovaries if her male doctor had believed her when she first started to feel pain and her cancer had been treated early on. still has the same hormonal needs as other females and needs to be on HRT.
- a woman who became infertile after having a clandestine abortion. not included in “people who can get pregnant.” would have possibly not become pregnant if she’d had access to education and contraceptives and if we didn’t live in a world where men raping women was commonplace. could have had a safe abortion if women were granted full autonomy over their bodies.
- a girl who was the victim of fgm. not included in “people with a clitoris.” would not have been the victim of fgm if men did not specifically seek to control and punish female bodies.
Abigail Disney has no control or input on the operations of the corporation, she is a Disney heiress and, in that respect, nothing else. She puts her money towards philanthropy, especially women’s movements around the globe and peace organizations like Peace is Loud and the Global Fund for Women. She is a documentary filmmaker who explores these themes as well.
There are problematic family investments she earns money from that, legally, she cannot divest from. Instead, she donates these profits to charities that counter to those investments.
“I have literally sat in a room with the people [at Disney] who pour your soda, and the people who clean your room and scrape gum off the sidewalks, who have told me, “I have to ration my insulin.” I have sat with them, and I have felt a kind of rage that I don’t even know how to describe to you.”
This woman, with no control over where the wealth she was born to comes from, looked around and said “well, this isn’t fair” and advocates to fucking fix that shit.
