Darling in the franxx the true meaning of their love. Darling in the Franxx is primarily an exploration of a relationship between two characters: Hiro and Zero Two. Their relationship is pure symbolism, illustrating the various aspects of intimate relationships between a couple. The two characters come with simultaneously existing dualities of woman and man, perfection and flaws, kindness and cruelty, strength and weakness.

Throughout the various episodes of Darling in the Franxx we are exposed to various facets of the relationship between Hiro and Zero Two, and one of the most intriguing junctures is during episodes 3 and 4 where we see Hiro grow from being a weakling, who through his own unhealthy perspective decided himself unworthy of Zero Two’s affection to where he begins to take the first steps into becoming a self-respecting alpha male figure worthy of the love of his woman.
