A Fairy Tale Wedding - Phillip/Raven
raven-rebornâ:
Raven woke up early that morning.
It was a cold winter day in Sharance, and Raven could feel the wind gusting through the cracks in her window shutters. This was her last day living in this house. After over a decade, it was time for her life to change.
Since it was too early to walk over to the nearby mansion, Raven enjoyed a peaceful morning with Rose by her side. The little wooly followed her around, as if she knew that Raven was nervous about something and that she needed to be comforted.
Gaius was still asleep when Raven finally left the house and headed towards Sofiaâs home. The two girls had decided that it would be best for Raven to get ready for the wedding at the mansion, as there would be no risk of soot covering her wedding dress. She was worried that it was still too early to knock on her best friendâs door, but was relieved to find that the girl was just as eager to get the day started as she was.
After they had greeted each other, Sofia led Raven to her bedroom, where she had been keeping their dresses, make-up, and everything else they would need for the wedding. Shara arrived shortly after, and Karina appeared fashionably late, claiming that she had slept in, as usual.
The four girls got ready together. And while Sofia, Karina, and Shara chatted, Raven remained silent, her nerves bubbling up in her throat and preventing her from joining in on the conversations. She allowed Sofia to do her hair and make-up, and watched in silence as Karina painted her nails. Once they were done, Shara threaded a flower through her hair, and they all stared at Raven in awe.
It would not be long now.
Noise.
There just had been so much noise and attention the past several days that it just didnât seem to stop. Phillip woke up groggy and frankly quite the opposite of well rested. He groaned lazily as his alarm clock went off next to him, lazily slamming it the top of it, only finally turning it off after the second attempt.Â
The nonstop commotion and excitement was enjoyable of course, but the evening spent last night perhaps got a little too out of hand. Dirk and Kana meant well, but Phillip (surprisingly being the voice of reason in this little friend group) perhaps let things get a little too out of hand. It was fun donât get him wrong, but perhaps the plan to take it a little bit more easy the night before the wedding might have been the better decision to take.
Nonetheless, the show must go onâ hungover or not!
Despite the ability for the man to perhaps sleep in an hour or two more to rid the overpowering headache of yesterdayâs mistakes, the man knew that wouldnât be like him. To do anything differently than his normal routine just wouldnât be him, and frankly he was more than sure karma would come back to bite him and today really wasnât the day to be running late. So he hauled himself out to bed, 5:30am in the morning as per usual, and made his way to the bathroom.
A groan escaped from the manâs throat as the hot water poured over him, steam filling the room as he basked in the increasing heat. Phillip was truly just exhausted, the attention and the enthusiasm was exciting and appreciated, but the only thought that truly was going to get him through the day was finally, at the end being alone in their now shared house with his new wife. His wife. The man hummed softly to himself in delight at the thought, the gentle melody echoing against the tile walls of the bathroom.
Once his shower was finished, with his bath towel on top of his head, the man ruffled his hair in the towel in an attempt to dry his ginger locks as quickly as he could. Once it was decently dry, the man looked to himself in the mirror. Cyan eyes blinked as he rose an eyebrow, he looked over himself with a critical eye. Maybe it was the upcoming pressure of the day to come; the nervousness, the unbelievably rivating life change, or the perfectionist in him but he just couldnât help his need to try and adjust his still damp hair.
Luckily, Phillip was able to fit the haircut he really so desperately needed in the day before, but he couldnât help wondering if that was really the right choice. The self consciousness settled in for a lingering moment, before the man brushed it off with a huff. This was definitely the last thing he should have to worry about. Plus his hair was going to be slicked back anyway, per his bride to beâs request.Â
The rest of his morning continued on as normal; his stomach couldnât really handle much breakfast, for he simply settled for a cup of coffee. Lillian had offered and offered and offered to take over his farm chores for this morning, yet a part of him just couldnât pass up such a integral part of his morning routine. Plus, watering his plants every morning had become much more therapeutic than many people must have assumed it was.Â
Itâs not that he needed the distraction, but perhaps he wanted to hold on to any sense of normalcy to his day before the influx of eager festivities truly began.Â
While the man remained lost in his thoughts, thinking through the schedule for the day, before a voice snapped him from his thoughts.Â
âI told you I could take care of that for you âȘ.â
With his train of thought derailed, Phillip looked up to see none other than Lillian leaning against the fence to greet him. Her hair was done up and makeup put together neatly. âWell look at you!â The red haired man chimed back in greeting to the young woman, finishing the bit he was working on. âDonât you look just lovely.â He spoke with a bit of a laugh, leaning forward across the fence to hug the girl in greeting. âYouâre so dressed up, got somewhere special to be today?âÂ
Lillianâs lilac eyes rolled in an over dramatic manner in response to her best friendâs words, leaning into the hug wholeheartedly. âOh will you stop.â She chided with a laugh escaping her. âYouâve never been one to hide your nervous ticks very well, and you might be able to fool someone else with all your backhanded teasing, but not me thatâs for sure.â The girl was dressed in casual clothing, a bag hungover shoulder to which Phillip could only assume was her formal dress for later. âHowâre you feeling?â She spoke, interrupting him from his thoughts once again. âI still donât understand why you just didnât stay at the inn in Sharance last night! Donât you think this is a bit of an early morning? Even for you?â
Phillip cocked a smile, knowing full well his attempt to play off or hide any of his emotions simply would lead to him getting called out over and over again. So instead he leaned his back against the fence and sighed openly, taking in the fresh morning air. âI donât know. I guess I should have, but there was something that was just holding me back from just staying there.â His eyes gazed over the coloring of the breaking dawn sky. âThereâs so much change coming up for us both, so much thatâs so new. Plus it just wouldnât feel right going to Sharance first without my family! It just feels more right to go along with everyone.âÂ
Lillian leaned forward against the fence and looked to the man beside her with a sense of understanding, she mused for a moment before nodding. âWell, itâs not just you thatâs got the early morning, your whole family will be right there beside you as you make your own family a little bigger. Everyoneâs getting the horse carriages set up and ready to go, and the last thing we need is a groom thatâs late to his own wedding.â She nudged him playfully while she nodded back toward the manâs farm home. âNow come on, we donât have much time to lose!â
And back he was, looking himself over in the bathroom mirror. Never had he been this most self conscious in his life, even from before when he and Raven started dating. He supposed it was just because he wanted everything to be perfect, and much less for himself than he wanted it to be perfect for her.
âOh quit it,â Lillian teased once again as she leaned against the door way. âYour hair looks great, get over yourself.â
Well he couldnât deny her when she was right and instead looked to the girl and nodded with a smile. She was right, and it was time for him to focus much more on what the day was really was about. That he was getting married.Â
All of a sudden, a loud burst came through his front door that made their pair jump in surprise. âCome on already!â
Dirk and Kana, both barreled through the front door, both looking dressed in their suits and ready to go. The four bantered back and forth, before both the boys spoke of how everyone else in town was ready to go as well. They were all going together, the whole town, to watch their farmer boy get married.
Phillip beamed, nodding enthusiastically and agreeing that they should be on their way. âWell we shouldnât keep anyone waiting now shall we âȘ?â
